I want to know Jesus intimately, friend to friend. I

want to share great love with him. I want to go

where he goes and do what he does.

I notice the people themselves, keenly,

lovingly. Then I listen to what they say.

Then I watch how they are acting.

I simply get involved in the event, at whateverpoint I feel drawn into it. I act in it, a part of the

event - holding the light, fixing the hayrack,helping with the animals.

I go along with one of the persons in the event,letting the event be a dynamic background.

We talk with and listen to each other.

Jesus had to be human. Jesus had to become like us forGod’s salvation to be possible.Everything he did would notmatter if he was not human likeus. The Gospels tell us that he isindeed a human person,

ultimately faced with options.



Jesus had to be human.It is clear that he chose the life

with God, the Father, as his centerbecause he was able to chooseeverything but the life of sin.

Thus, Jesus is a perfect humanbeing.



Jesus is the Son of God Jesus is divine. To get a clearerpicture of God the Father, we canlook to Jesus who is the image ofthe Father. In fact, everything that Jesus says and does makes astatement about God.

Thus, we need to not only follow,

but to witness Jesus Christ or toput him on.



What would i do? My life is a credible standard by which you can orient your lives tobecause I remained faithful in loving and obeying God, who knows

what will make us full & ultimately satisfied.



What drives me? What motivates Jesus to preach the Good News(heal the sick, forgive sinners, perform miracles)?

It’s his love that

motivated him todo everything he

did.

What does it mean to love one another?



BE CHARITABLE AT ALL TIMES AND IN ALLCIRCUMSTANCES. Jesus, the Lord, willed His disciples tobe known by their love. No Catholic should fan the flames

of dissension by rumor-mongering and by inflammatorystatements. Let all be kind in disposition, respectful inspeech and prudent in action.

Oftentimes, you will hear him talkabout God’s Kingdom and how we should

make it happen in the here and now.

Not a place!It’s the heart of

Jesus’ teaching.



KINGDOM OF GODis both a present and future reality.

Although we always imagine it to be aplace, it is more than that. It is a

condition that is present today and acondition we must also work for (the

Kingdom is a gift and a task).



This Kingdom wasinaugurated on earth

by Jesus Christ.He reveals the characteristicsand demands of the kingdomthrough his words, his actionsand his own person(Redemptoris Missio 14).

He proclaimed it using hiswords, which manifestthemselves in miraculous signs.

These words and works ofJesus give us a glimpse of whatthe Kingdom really is and howthe Kingdom of God is like.



IMMINENTIt is already happening; breaking through Jesus

Christ. Since it is already happening (the Kingdom isat hand). We are being called to have a change ofheart/transformation/metanoia to allow God to reallyreign in our lives. (cf. Mk. 1:15, Mk. 12:28, Lk 4:21)



NEW RULE OF GOD This ‘rule’ concerns a restoration of the relationshipbetween God and human beings and the relationship

among peoples as well. It grows gradually as people slowlylearn how to love, forgive and serve one another. The goalof the Kingdom is for communion among human beings –with one another and with God (Redemptoris Missio 15).

IN THE WORLD



NEW RULE OF GOD This ‘rule’ is similar to the ‘new covenant’ that Jesus

established. This is not a new covenant in a sense thatJesus changed the old covenant. Rather, he provides uswith a correct understanding of the covenant made by Godwith his people. (cf. Mt. 5)

IN THE WORLD



HERE BUT NOTJesus saw the fulfillment of God’s Kingdom but it is

still not yet fulfilled. Thus, there is a need to alwayspray, “Thy Kingdom come. Your will be done on earthas it is in heaven.”

YET FULLY



A GIFT YET A TASK The Kingdom of God will still come from

God but it needs human cooperation aswell. Our role is to acknowledge the giftand respond to it actively.



FOR ALLEveryone is called to enter the Kingdom (CCC 543). The Kingdom of God is not equal to the Church. The

Church helps build God’s Kingdom but Christ’smessage of God’s reign is not limited to the Church. Itis for all – not just for the Jews but also for theGentiles.



ADDRESSED TO THE POOR

The kingdom belongs to the poor and lowly, which

means those who have accepted it with humblehearts (CCC 544). Jesus’ association with the poortells us how he addressed God’s Kingdom to thepoor, the anawim, those who are dependent on God.

KINGDOMOFGODThe state of human living when

we realize God’s sovereignty over man.

Simplified: God is king. When He is king, love,

peace and justice prevails.

reality. Jesus knows and believes that it can befulfilled in the here and now.

will lead us to the right path for there are many

seemingly “good” things that eventually may lead

We join Jesus in the living condition thateverything in the world is gift from God.

A life of frugality and powerlessness, freely

embraced, brings tremendous safety andgreat authority.

We live the life of love and service but in

great meekness and humility just like Jesus.

His will is the best for me.”

God sets the values for me and decides for

what will truly make me happy.

This makes me grow in great humility in front of

God. Once humble, no temptation will make me miss

the mark. I’m able to think, act and love like Jesus.

to recognize that the mechanisms of disorder

among people are lubricated by wealth.

We live the life convinced that we are the

center of our world.

Growing into pride - a conviction that I can

Ignatius asks us to imagine Christ calling people

Satan is tempting people to desire riches, which leads

to honors, which often leads to an overweening pride,

the gateway to a gamut of sinful behavior.
