What is Academic Dishonesty?
Academic honesty is:
• Cheating in any form.
• Submitting the same academic paper in different courses.
• Working with another student on an assignment that you should be doing alone.
• Doing another students work.
Being Academically Honest?
You become academically honest by:
• Making a commitment to understand and to practice honesty.
• Reviewing your school’s guidelines for academic honesty.
• Asking questions when in doubt.
• Being truthful in all matters.
• Doing your work, and only your work.
What is Plagiarism?
Plagiarism is:
• Using the work of another person without that person’s permission.
• Presenting the work of another person as though it were your own.
• Neglecting to give credit to your sources.
• Presenting your own work as if it were newly created—self-plagiarism

Avoiding Plagiarism
You avoid plagiarism by:
• Giving credit to your source in the form of a citation in the body of your paper.
• Giving credit to your source in a full reference list at the end of your paper.
• Never presenting someone else’s work as your own.
• Never self-plagiarize by using your own previous work without giving credit.
