Dear Friends, I thoroughly enjoy studying God’s Word. No matter how many times I read a passage of scripture, God always seems to show me something new in the scriptures. Perhaps even more than enjoying studying the Bible, I love to teach God’s Word and to discover with other people what it means to receive “the living Word” of God in our hearts and lives. That’s why I am so excited about beginning our Basic Bible 101 class on Monday/Tuesday, January 8-9. I call the class “Everything You’ve Always Wanted to Know About the Bible but Were Afraid to Ask.” That may be an ambitious goal, but you get the idea. This class will be for anyone and everyone. If you’ve never opened a Bible before, come! If you’ve been a student of the Bible all of your life, come! If you revere God’s Word but have questions, come! If you want to learn more about how the Bible came to be, who wrote the Bible, what is actually in the Bible, come! If you want to enjoy fellowship with friends and neighbors as we read God’s Word, come!
I will have plenty planned for us to do and to talk about on Monday nights and Tuesday mornings. I also want to respond to your questions and thoughts about the Bible, so don’t be shy. This is your chance to find out what you’ve always wondered about the Bible. If you have to miss on Monday night or Tuesday morning and can come to the other class, feel free. We will cover the same material. We will meet in the Fellowship Hall. Bring your Bible and some paper to make notes. What a great way to begin a new year — reading and talking about God’s Word with God’s people! Happy New Year!
In Christ,

In that service the church shall confirm them in their baptismal identity. They are commissioned for full participation in the mission and governance of the church, and are welcomed by the congregation."
