Open ALPCDesk

Click on the ALPCDesk symbol or select HYDAC/ALPCDesk via Windows Start and the program menu.

Enter your user initials and then confirm with OK.

From the start screen, you can start a new sample analysis, show measurement results and change program settings.

Sample analysis

Start ALPCDesk

Start the sample analysis by pressing the Icons or by using the menu bar File -> Analyse samples.

Then the "Measurement" window below will open up.




Preparing the sample analysis

Prepare the sample analysis for an entire pallet or individual samples.

After starting the ALPCs, the dome cover may have dropped slightly due to the lack of a compressed air supply.

Check the position of the dome cover prior to taking samples. If the dome cover is

not in the correct position, actuate the key and then

in order to bring the dome cover into initial position.

Status bar: Here the current process step is shown.

1. In order to enter the file name, please click on "Select..." .

2. PRN Filename = The same file name is entered into this field automatically.

3. Select the automatic or manual operating mode

4. Apply a tick to all required items ("active" column) from the pallet equipped with the samples to be analysed.

5. By clicking on +/-, all items are activated or deactivated.

6. You can import sample IDs and pallet items from csv files using the “Import rack data” key.

7. Enter the sample IDs (maximum 15 characters (max. 11 symbols; min. 1 number); if less than 15 characters are entered, spaces are automatically added at the front of the ID; the last character must be a number).




8. The button "Clear" (delete) serves to delete all ID fields for the samples.

9. If you click on "Fill" and "Check IDs", consecutive IDs are automatically added into the empty fields and then all IDs are checked for redundant spaces and the maximum length of 15 characters.

10. Click on the "Start measurement" button.

Note: During the first measurement after switching on the ALPC, it may be necessary, if a measurement has been started (automatic or manual) and the cover block is in "closed" position, to end the measurement and to restart at Point 1.

Stop sample analysis

After completing the sample analysis, the window shown below is shown.

Notes can be entered and saved.

If this window is shown, all test data is stored in the APD and PRN files. By clicking on OK, you can return to the measuring window.




A sample ID marked in green indicates a completed measurement; the marking in orange shows bottles which have not been recorded, and the blue marking means: measurement is being carried out - bottle under the dome.

If bottles are present during the measuring cycle which have not been recorded, you will be asked by the program - after measurement has been completed and you have added your notes - whether the non-recorded bottles should be automatically compiled and the results stored in a new file (filename_2nd).

Show measurement results

Click on "File" and select the menu item "Display results" (show results). After this, the window shown below for opening files appears.

Select the required file name for indication of the measuring results.




1.) Select the "List" or "Graph" tabs.

On selection of "List", the data is shown in tabular form:

4.) The ISO classes are shown in the bold print 4μm, 6μm and 14μm columns.

5.) In the columns 4μm to 50μm, the particle numbers (downscaled to 1ml test volume) and the appropriate deviation of the last two runs are shown in percent.

6.) Select between the standards ISO 4406:1987 or 4406:1999 and between cumulative and differential particle counts.




If a line with measuring values or deviations is highlighted in red, this means that the results lie outside the range.

Change program settings

By clicking on the Setup button, the Setup window shown below is opened up, on which there are five tabs.

Standard

Here you can select between ISO 4406:1987 and ISO 4406:1999. This selection has an effect on the display during analysis, the PRN file format, the channel settings and the rinsing settings.




Channel settings

The permitted deviation for each channel can be entered on the channel tab. If no entry can be made, the deviation is not inspected.

Rinsing settings

On the "Rinsing settings" tab, the required cleanliness class can be selected which is to be achieved during the progression of the rinsing process.

Here the maximum number of the rinsing runs and rinsing times for each run can be selected.




The rinsing process is stopped as soon as the specified cleanliness class has been achieved.

If the specified cleanliness class has not been achieved, a window opens in which the rinsing process can be restarted or the sample analysis stopped.

System info

Data from the ALPCs and Service information is shown on the "System info" tab.

Other

On the "Other" tab, you can select the serial connection to the ALPC control system.

I/O window

If a system error occurs, the information is shown in the I/O window which you will require during contact with the Hydac Service department..

In the Step list, information about the process progression of an "active" bottle are shown.

If the steps are marked blue, this means: Process step completed

If the steps are marked red, this means: Current process step

I/O window

With the "Restart Robot“ button, the measuring routine is continued in automatic mode after opening the front door of the safety cage.

With the "Reset Robot“ button, the robot is reset to its initial condition.

With the "Pause analysis“ button, the measurement is interrupted after the first step and the measurement routine is set in the standby status. By clicking on this button again, the measurement is continued.

Using the “Move dome upward” button, the dome is moved into the defined upper position. If the compressed air supply has been switched off, the dome may drop slightly. The position switch then recognizes that the dome is not located in the correct position for starting the measurement.
