WHAT TYPE OF LEARNER ARE YOU?

My main learning style is being linguistic. I usually like to read books and do other things as well. Verbal-linguistic intelligence (along with logical-mathematical intelligence) is often associated with doing well in school. You have the ability to use words effectively for reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Many poets have been described to have some of verbal-linguistic intelligence. I also use words to explain complicated subjects when I am trying to learn. Mostly, I just ask questions. I also try to engage in by asking questions, and letting the answers sink in, so I can understand them better. These things help me understand and remember what I learn in school. Linguistic or not, I’m just going to keep on following what I’m doing.

STUDYING NO-NOS

Here are some No-No’s that apply to me...that I use the most often:

1.    Working in your Bed

While it may be comfortable, your bed can also sooth you to sleep instead of study. Sit at a desk in your room instead of on your bed.  Don’t study on your bed late at night, as you will be tempted to fall asleep.

2.    Eating

Eating too much food during studying can disrupt retention of material.  It can also take too much time away.  You may want to snack lightly during studying, but not eat enormous meals.  Keep a small bag of snacks by your study area.  You won’t have to leave the area just to pick up food when you get hungry.

STUDYING NO-NOS Here are some No-No’s that apply to me...that I use the most often:

3.   Multi-Tasking

Many people are able to multi-task, meaning they can do several different things at once.  This can be good for daily tasks.  When it comes to studying, you may not retain as much material as if you were to focus purely on one task.  Before a big exam, drop everything else for at least 24 hours and focus purely on the studying.  When it is complete, you can return to your multi-tasking.

4.    Outside Stress

It is inevitable to allow outside problems into your study world.  They exist and cannot be turned off light electricity.  There is no perfect way out of eliminating outside stress to a study area.  The best advice we can give you is to find a location that eliminates all superficial stress enough that will allow you even a few hours to focus on writing, studying, reviewing.

STUDYING NO-NOS 5.   Last Minute Cramming

While many people swear by the cramming method, it is ultimately terrible at long term knowledge retention and can cause undue stress.  Study for days up until the test.  Or, if you do prefer cramming, try cramming two nights prior to the exam so that the final night will not consist of stress. Make it a night for review instead.

These are all the no-no’s that apply to me. The ones I use the most are listed in the beginning, then the least  at the end. I can improve these habits, but it will take some time .

STUDYING YES-YES’S

These topics have  listed below are all of the studying yes-yes’s one needs to use during a period of studying. Many include obvious topics, but some may be not what you are thinking of… Take responsibility for yourself = One must realize that

order to succeed , one must make decisions about one’s important things, time, and resources.

Center yourself around your values and principles= Don't let friends and group members tell you what one considers significant.

Put first things first = Check on the importance ( goals ) you have set for yourself, and don't let people, or other comforts, distract you from your goals.

Discover your key productivity periods and places= Find areas where you can be the most focused and creative. Line up these study challenges for the most hardest, to the least.

donate your best work to a class, everyone can benefit off it. Your class grade can also be a reminder to check up on you performance.

First understand others, then attempt to be understood= When you have an question for a teacher, imagine yourself in the teacher’s place. Ask yourself how you can make the best outcome of the situation.

DEVELOPING A SCEDULE My usual day is waking up after an 8 hour sleep, eating

breakfast for about 10 minutes, rushing to school, then staying there for about 6 hours, obviously taking breaks for lunch. after the 6 hour time period of school, I study for about 1 hour at home, then work and play sports for about...10 minutes. I usually spend about 2 hours chilling and playing on my SNES and Wii. I socialize with friends for a bit too as well. After all that, I spend 15 minutes eating dinner, play a bit more Wii, then I go to bed for 8 hours and the cycle starts again. .

EFFECTIVE STUDY HABITS The results that were shown on my quiz meant that I am not

really good at my study habits . I need to improve my habits more by have more TIME MANAGEMENT!!! I might also need to pay attention more when the teacher is teaching stuff, and not let my mind wander away . If I do those things, I might be able to build out from there! I need to be more effective when I’m studying, as well as organizing and reviewing my notes more often. The main thing is, however, just to pay attention and not to get distracted. If I manage to do that, I’ll be able to build a good foundation to start from .

MIND MAPPING

Mind Mapping is a simple technique for drawing information in diagrams, instead of writing it in sentences. The diagrams always take the same basic format of a tree, with a single starting point in the middle that branches out, and divides again and again. The tree is made up of words or short sentences connected by lines. The lines that connect the words are part of the meaning. Some uses for mind maps are for education, essays, evaluation, exam revision, and, brainstorming ideas for school projects and/ or recreational uses.

REFLECTION What I learned in this unit about myself was that I am not

really organized. I need to utilize my time more often, as well as be a bit more organized and functional. I might also need to be more focused, so I can pay attention!! I also learned from myself that I am linguistically gifted . I’m sort of smart . These qualities may make it easier for me to get on track and STOP LETTING MY MIND WANDER OFF !!!
