The Power of the Purse is the signature fundraising event of the All iance Against Family Violence & Sexual Assault. It is a celebration of the power dedicated people and organizations have to change lives.

The Alliance Against Family Violence and Sexual Assault strengthens our community through prevention, education and crisis intervention services.

Confronting domestic violence and sexual assault is difficult – especially for those who are experiencing it. For families who must flee dangerous situations, the All iance Against Family Violence & Sexual Assault is a safe haven providing counseling, safety, and crisis intervention to help end the cycle of violence. I was recently asked what our community might look like without the All iance Against Family Violence & Sexual Assault. Try to imagine the rape victim sitting in a trauma center alone without a counselor to help her through an unimaginable ordeal, or the children who would continue to be sexually assaulted because they have no safe haven to turn to. Try to imagine women and children suffering from domestic violence and having no critical services available.

Power of the Purse is your opportunity to help these victims.

This unique “Girls Night Out” event features a shopping extravaganza, a fabulous home tour and an opportunity to catch up with other women over drinks and light hors d’oeuvres. Last year over 300 people attended our Power of the Purse event and raised $100,000. This year our goal is even greater attendance and $150,000 in donations.

100% of Power of the Purse proceeds stay right here in Kern County, supporting the All iance and strengthening our community. Last year the All iance provided services for 2,224 victims of domestic violence, 543 victims of sexual assault and emergency shelter for 200 women and children fleeing domestic abuse in Kern County. With the help of the All iance these individuals found Protection through our 24-hour crisis response and shelter, Prevention through our education services, Transition through our counseling and support services and Advocacy in the criminal justice system, medical and social services agencies.
