Learning Matters…a
Important Information
Car seats left in the building MUST have a
name clearly marked on them. There is a
sharpie at the front desk. We do not want
any mix ups with car seats should an
emergency happen and someone else needs
to pick up a child that doesn’t normally
pick up. We cannot help them properly if
the car seats are not labeled.
Please remember to call the front desk if
your child will not be in attendance.
Communication is extremely important to
us. We strive very hard to provide several
different ways of communicating with our
parents. We want to find a way that fits for
each family. We have our calendars in the
hallway and classrooms, newsletters,
Facebook/Twitter and text messages.
Newsletters will give the next 3 months of
activities and dates of anything that is
already planned. We are hoping that this
will help with upcoming events and
planning purposes.
Key fobs are our way into the building. It
is important for us to know who is in the
building. If your family has a regular pick
up or drop off person they will need to
have a key fob. The parent will need to get
this for them (they cannot request them
without parent approval). Please do not
give your key fob to family members or
friends. We can open the door for them on
occasion. Thank you for helping us to keep
the building safe and secure.
Please take a moment to check your child’s
cubby bin. Every child should have an
extra set of clothing (shirt, pants/shorts,
socks, underwear, etc.) Children that are
potty training should have lots of extra
clothing in their bins should they have an
accident. Please make sure that the
clothing are the appropriate sizes and
weather appropriate. We are limited on
extra clothing.
Kona Ice days are on the calendar and a
reminder text goes out the night before.
Kona Ice is $3 per person. Money must be
given to the front desk. Please do not give
this to your child or the teachers. We have
everything organized and then give to the
teachers when it is their turn to go outside.

Community/Family Picnic
Our community/family picnic is scheduled for August 13th. An RSVP form will be included in your August newsletter. These must be turned in by Friday, August 6th. This will help us to plan and make sure that we have enough food for everyone. This event is open to all of our families here. Our theme this year will be 50’s Rock & Roll! We will have a petting zoo and face painting again this year as well as lunch for everyone. Lunch will be hot dogs, chips, water or lemonade and a cookie. This also includes other activities such as Kona Ice (there is no charge for this- see below), sidewalk chalk and bubble station as well sack races, games and many more activities. Last year we had a Caribbean Steel Drum band and everyone loved it. This year we will be having a Shake, Rattle & Roll Band coming. They will be here to play music for everyone during the picnic. Each person will be given a ticket for Kona Ice. Tickets for children and parents attending will be given to your child’s teacher and will have your name on them (there is a limit of 2 adults, only those that RSVP will be given the tickets). These must be turned in when getting your Kona Ice in order to receive your free one. Tickets are printed ahead of time; it is important to make sure that families turn in their RSVP’s so that we can prepare and have all tickets printed and ready for the teachers. All children participate even if parents cannot attend. We understand that parents have schedules and may not be able to attend. Please note that no one will be left out if a parent cannot attend. This is our big party to say “Thank You” to all of our families for being a part of our family. Please see the front desk if you have any questions regarding our Family Picnic. We hope to see you all there!

Handwashing &Temperatures
The orders have been lifted for mask wearing. Anyone is welcome to still
wear a mask in the building if they prefer to wear one. However, we are
still asking that no one come into the building if they are ill or have been
feeling ill. Children’s temperatures will no longer be required to be taken
when entering the classroom. However, if a child has a fever/temperature
throughout the day they will be sent home. Children that are sent home
cannot return until they are fever free without the aid of medication for 24
hours. This has always been a policy and will continue to be strictly
enforced. We are going to keep our policy of handwashing before
entering any classroom. We will continue to have our handwashing
stations up throughout the building. Please remember to wash your hands
using the sanitizer before entering any classroom. There is a parent
bathroom in the hallway if you prefer not to use the sanitizer.
For health and safety, we are still limiting the time spent in the building.
Many centers are still not allowing families into the building, we want
parents to come in and see their teachers and their classrooms but we are
asking that visits in the building be kept to 15 minutes or less. Should
your family need longer than 15 minutes please let us know so that we are
aware. Please only bring one person into the building if possible.
However, we understand if a family needs help and two people need to
come in to help. We want to everyone to feel comfortable and have the
relationships with the teachers and the front desk.
Our cleaning process will remain the same as it always has been. Our
goal is to continue to keep everyone as health and safe as we possibly
can. With everyone’s help we can continue to do this. Thank you for your
help in advance.
Mabels Labels Fundraiser We have a new fundraiser that will be ongoing throughout the year. Mabels Labels is an awesome way to label your child’s items. They have everything imaginable. You can get labels for your child or even your family! When purchasing labels through Mabel’s Labels you help us earn 20% of the order which will help us to build our activities fund. Our activities fund provides fun activities such as Dynamic School visits, transportation day, community picnic, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day celebrations, holiday parties and so much more. 100% of funds earned goes directly into our activities fund. This is a great way to label your child (or families) belongings and also help our teachers. We have included a flyer in your parent newsletter packet with information. You can also go to: Campaigns.mabelslabels.com and choose our organization from the list. Everything ships for FREE to your house!
Hello! We are pleased to send you this

way of saying that you are important to us
and we truly value your family. Enjoy!

Transportation Day Our transportation day is scheduled for Thursday, July 29th from 9 to 11am. This is an annual event that the children love. In the past we have had a police car, ambulance, fire truck, school bus, consumer’s truck, race cars, shriner cars, tractors and so much more. We are currently in the planning stage and working with the community to bring in a variety of modes of transportation that the children can learn about and have fun with. If you know of anyone in the community that would like to participate and donate two hours of their time we would love to have them. Please see Miss. Tracy for information. Children go around to visit each station and can learn about the different modes of transportation and what they do. They will end at the Kona Ice truck and will be able to make their own Kona Ice treat. (There is no charge for this event and all Kona Ice treats are covered under our activities fund). During this event, our parking lot will be closed. Children should plan to be here no later than 9am if they are planning on participating in the event. Families arriving after 9am will need to park on the side street and walk through the grass to our sidewalk. As always, for your child’s safety, please keep your child within an arm’s length. We are looking forward to another fun summer event!
Don’t forget your Splash Day items Our splash days are every Friday (weather permitting). Splash Days will not be made up on a different day if we have
to cancel due to bad weather. In order to participate in splash days, your child must bring the following:
Bathing suit, towel, extra pair of shoes that can get wet, and bag to put everything in. Unfortunately we must have all
these items in order to participate. We do not have extras here that can be used for splash days.
Please help our teachers by making sure that your child’s items are all labeled with their name. Children that do not
have these items will not be allowed to participate in splash day. Children that cannot participate due to not having
their items will still be able to go outside but will be in a separate area of the playground so that they do not get wet.
We will send out a text message the night before as a reminder to all of our parents. If you are not signed up for our
text messages, please see the front desk so that we can get you the information.
We want everyone to have fun during this time.
