What a Beautiful Question…

• Do we attract the positive and negative things into our lives with our thoughts?

Why this Question?

This is a question that has always intrigued me. The most intelligent people in the world have suggested that we have the power within our minds to dictate what happens in our lives and I am very curious if this is true.

The Secret

The Secret

• The Secret is a documentary entailing the secret of life…what is it you might be thinking?!

• The secret of life is that with the law of attraction we attract everything into our lives with the energy of our thoughts.

• “The secret is the answer to all that has been and all that will ever be”—Ralph Emerson

The Law of Attraction

• “Everything coming into your life you are attracting into your life and is attracted to you by virtues of images you are holding in your mind”---Bob Proctor Philosopher

• Definition: The attractive, magnetic power of the Universe that draws similar energies together. It manifests through the power of creation, everywhere and in multiple ways. Even the law of gravity is part of the law of attraction. This law attracts thoughts, ideas, people, situations and circumstances.

Applying the Law of Attraction to your life

• With the law of attraction, likes attracts likes at a level of thought

• Make it clear what you want and you will become it by your thoughts attracting it

• “Thoughts become things”

This is too good to be true…..

• The problem: People think about what they DON’T want rather than what they do want!!

• Example: “I really hope I don’t get a parking ticket!”

Working with law of attraction

• The law of attraction is not biased to things you want or don’t want, it just is attracted to the energy of your thoughts.

• Think negatively and you will attract more negative situations.

• You have to learn to train your thoughts

Training your thoughts

• You have about 60,000 thoughts a day which is exhausting to think about trying to control each thought

• Control the way you feel, celebrate good feelings and they will attract the good into your life.

• “Whatever you are thinking and feeling today will create your future”-The Secret

Aaron T. Beck’s way to control the mind

• Cognitive behavioral therapy is based on the cognitive psychology and behavioral therapy.

• This therapy is active, directive, time-limited, structured approach used to treat a variety of psychiatric disorders.

• It is based on the underlying theoretical principle that how people feel and behave is largely determined by the way they think about the world and their place in it.

• This therapy is designed to identify, reality test and correct distorted conceptualizations in which every person has.

• This is a mindful process in controlling your thoughts and thinking positively.

You are in control

Aladdin and the secret

• If you trace the story back to it’s origins you find that the 3 wishes are actually endless and the genie represents a higher power or the universe

• The genie always says “your wish is my command” which really represents the world saying your wish is my command.

3-Step process to get what you want from

life1.) Ask; figure out what you want and ask for it

2.) Believe; Believe that it’s already yours and believe in the unseen

3.) Receive; be grateful in return of the things you are gaining from life

Let the universe know what you want and get it!

When you don’t see the results immediately you may become doubtful, recognize this feeling and change it to desire and hope.

Change how you feel

• Become grateful for all the things you do have and truly feel good about it

• To get started write a list starting with I am so grateful and happy because of and write whatever is good in your life this will shift your energy.

• Then write a list beginning with I am so happy and grateful for and write what you want your life to be and what you want to be in it

• Visualize it and believe you already have what you want!!

My try at the 3 step process

1.) First I will create a gratitude list to shift my energies and focus on the positives.

2.) Next I will create a list on the things I want from life that will only increase my happiness and make me more grateful.

3.)Then I will create a vision board that I will look at and visualize myself having daily

4.) I will evaluate if my positive energies had an impact on the events in my life.

Gratitude List

I am happy and grateful because:

-my loving, caring family who raised me with morals and taught me valuable life lessons

-my great friends who bring positive energy to my life

-my education

-my health

-my wealth that supports me through college

-my community

-my neighbors

-my belongings

-my intelligence and open mindedness

What I want out of life list

I am happy and grateful now that:

• My psoriasis is gone

• I am excelling in school

• I am driving a new toyota white camry

• I have a great nursing job and get to work with kids

• I am living in a great apartment in the city my work brings me

• I am making enough money to buy the things I desire in life

• I am traveling all over the world and helping people while doing so

• I am surrounded by only people that bring out the best in me and do not bring negative energy into my life

Vision Board

And the results were…

• My gratitude list really put things into perspective for me and I started wondering how I wasn’t constantly smiling and happy, I have everything a girl could want in the world, so this definitely released positive energies and good emotions.

• I cleared my mind and really focused on what I wanted in life. Once it was down on paper it was self determined that this is what I am focusing on, these are the big pictures, do not sweat the small stuff and just know no matter what these things will be accomplished in my life.

• My vision board is filled with more of life goals so must of these have not happened quite yet but they are a work in progress. I have great grades and am excelling as a nurse and just heard back on a nursing job that will definitely bring in a good financial situation for me. Also I visualized myself in a new white camry and although I meant 2013 I did just receive a new 2005 Toyota camry which I am not complaining about.

My overall view of this question

• I truly believe we do attract things into our lives with our thoughts. I noticed my good attitude was attracting more and more positive energy and good things were happening to me.

• The problem with this is that sometimes our emotions get the best of us and we can get stuck in a crappy mood when we are stressed and negative things happen from there.

• The key is to train yourself and think POSITIVE! Good things will follow, I promise.
