Monday, February 27 • ROME LECTURE: “Utica: Hotbed of Abolition 1833-1836,” w/ Deirdre Sinnott, Writer and Activist6 p.m., Room 119, Plumley ComplexUtica was at the center of the fight to abolish slavery, including four, seminal events that highlight the differences between the American Colonization Society and the Anti-Slavery Society, including the infamous 1835 Utica Riot and the 1836 rescue of two fugitives from slavery.
