    The speakers of this system are notmagnetically shielded. This may result incolor irregularity when they are placednear a CRT TV or projector.

    In order to output more effective soundwhen [All Front] setting is selected, werecommend you to install your frontspeakers and surround speakers closer toeach other.

    Step 2: Connecting theSystem

    Do not connect the AC power cord(mains lead) of the main unit to a walloutlet (mains) until all the otherconnections are made.

    When your wireless LAN router (accesspoint) is Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS)-compatible, you can easily set thenetwork settings with the WPS button.

    The surround amplifier enters standbymode automatically when the main unitis in standby mode or wirelesstransmission is deactivated.The surround amplifier turns on

    automatically when the main unit isturned on and wireless transmission isactivated.

    To specify the wirelessconnection

    If you use multiple wireless products oryour neighbors use wireless products,interference may occur. To prevent this,you can specify the wireless connection

    to link the main unit to the surroundamplifier (Secure Link function). Fordetails, see Further Settings for theWireless System (page 53).

    Step 5: Performing the

    The sound field can be selected only when

    [Sound Effect] is set to [Sound Field On](page 59). When [Sound Effect] is set toother than [Sound Field On], the soundfield setting does not apply.

    Press SOUND FIELD repeatedly during

    You can also press CLEARAUDIO+,GAME and NIGHT to select respective

    To enjoy 2-channel source such as a CD inmulti-channel output, we recommendyou to select [ClearAudio+].

    watching a football match broadcast.

    You can experience a feeling ofpresence in the stadium when watching

    the football match broadcast. [Football : Narration On]: You can

    enjoy an immersive feeling of being ina football stadium through enhancedstadium cheers.

    [Football : Narration Off]: You canenjoy a more immersive feeling ofbeing in a football stadium byminimizing the volume level ofnarration in addition to the

    enhancement of cheers. [Football Off]: The football mode is

    turned off.

    We recommend you to select the footballmode when watching a football matchbroadcast.

    If you hear unnatural sound in the contentwhen [Football : Narration Off] is selected,

    [Football : Narration On] isrecommended.

    The football mode is automatically set to[Football Off] when you perform thefollowing. Turn off the system. Press any of the sound field buttons

    (page 17). This feature does not support monaural

    sound.

    You can also select the football modefrom the option menu.

    If 5.1 channel audio stream is available,we recommend you to select it on your TVor set-top box.

    Playing a Disc

    You can play video/music/photo files

    on a connected USB device.For playable types of files, seePlayableTypes of Files (page 74).

    1 Connect the USB device to the(USB) port.

    Refer to the operating instructionsof the USB device beforeconnecting.

    2 Press HOME.The home menu appears on the TV

    screen.

    3 Press B/b to select [Video],[Music], or [Photo].

    Do not remove the USB device during

    Enjoying Music from aBLUETOOTH Device

    BLUETOOTH wireless technology is ashort-range wireless technology thatenables wireless data communicationbetween digital devices. BLUETOOTHwireless technology operates within arange of about 10 meters.

    Supported BLUETOOTH versionand profiles

    Profile refers to a standard set ofcapabilities for various BLUETOOTHproduct capabilities. For details on thesupported BLUETOOTH version andprofiles, see BLUETOOTH Section(page 77).

    Depending on the specifications of theBLUETOOTH device, the functions may

    differ even though the device supportsthe same profile as this system.

    The audio playback on this system maybe delayed from that on the BLUETOOTHdevice because of the characteristics ofthe BLUETOOTH wireless technology.

    To cancel pairing operation

    Press HOME or FUNCTION.

    You can connect to a BLUETOOTHdevice from this main unit.Check the following before playing

    Using Screen mirroring

    Screen mirroring is a function todisplay the screen of a mobile device onthe TV by Miracast technology.

    The main unit can be connected directlywith a Screen mirroring-compatibledevice (e.g. smartphone, tablet). Youcan enjoy the display screen of thedevice on your large TV screen. Nowireless router (or access point) isrequired to use this feature.

    1 Press MIRRORING.

    2 Follow the on-screen instructions.Activate the Screen mirroringfunction from your device.For details on how to activate thefunction, refer to the operatinginstructions supplied with yourdevice.

    When using Screen mirroring, the qualityof picture and sound may sometimes bedeteriorated due to interference fromother network.

    Some network functions may not beavailable during Screen mirroring.

    Make sure that the device is compatiblewith Miracast. Connectivity with allMiracast compatible devices is notguaranteed.

    Depending on the usage environment,

    the quality of the picture and sound maybe deteriorated.

    You can also wirelessly mirror your entireXperia smartphone screen on a large TVscreen by using One-touch mirroringfunction (NFC) (page 37).

    Connecting to a RemoteDevice by One-touchFunction (NFC)

    What is NFC?NFC (Near Field Communication) is atechnology enabling short-rangewireless communication betweenvarious devices, such as mobile phonesand IC tags. Thanks to the NFC function,data communication can be achievedeasily just by holding the device near

    the (N-Mark) on the

    NFC-compatible devices.

    The system only can recognizes andconnects to one NFC-compatible deviceat a time.

    Depending on your remote device, youmay need to turn on the NFC function onyour remote device in advance. Fordetails, refer to the operating instructions

    of the remote device. To use the NFC function, be sure to set

    [NFC] to [On] (page 61).

    By holding an NFC-compatible remote

    device near to the N-Markon the mainunit, the main unit and remote deviceproceed to complete pairing and theBLUETOOTH connection automatically.

    1 Download and install the NFCEasy Connect application.

    NFC Easy Connect is a freeapplication for Android remotedevices that can be obtained onGoogle Play. Search for theapplication using the keyword NFCEasy Connect on the site, or access

    Vibration cue is provided when theremote device is recognized by themain unit. Follow the on-screen

    instructions displayed on theremote device, and complete theprocedure for BLUETOOTHconnection.When the BLUETOOTH connectionis established, the blue LEDindicator on the top panel stopsflashing. The playback time appearsin the top panel display.

    For some remote devices, this functionmay be available without downloadingNFC Easy Connect. In this case, theoperation and specifications of the remotedevice may differ from the description inthis manual.

    If pairing and the BLUETOOTH connection

    fail, do the following. Relaunch NFC Easy Connect and move

    the remote device slowly over theN-Mark.

    Remove the case from the remote deviceif using a commercially available remotedevice case.

    To listen to music

    Start playback of an audio source on the

    remote device. For details on playbackoperations, refer to the operatinginstructions of your remote device.

    If the volume level is low, adjust thevolume of the remote device first. If thevolume level is still too low, adjust thevolume level on the main unit.

    To stop playbackThe playback will be stopped when youperform any of the following items. Hold the remote device near to the

    N-Mark on the main unit again. Stop the music player of the remote

    device. Turn off the main unit or the remote

    device. Change the function.

    Disable the BLUETOOTH function onthe remote device.

    By holding a One-touch mirroring-

    compatible Xperia near to the N-Markon the main unit, you can wirelesslymirror your entire Xperia smartphonescreen on a big screen TV. You canwatch videos or browse together withyour family and friends. No wirelessrouter (or access point) is required touse this function.

    You can operate the system with aDLNA-certified controller (a mobilephone, etc), when playing files stored

    Not all FM stations provide RDS service,nor do they provide the same type ofservices. If you are not familiar with theRDS system, check with your local radio

    stations for details on RDS services in yourarea.

    Using the Control for

    HDMI Function forBRAVIA Sync

    This function is available on TVs with theBRAVIA Sync function.By connecting Sony equipment that iscompatible with the Control for HDMIfunction via an HDMI cable, operation issimplified.

    To use the BRAVIA Sync function, be sureto turn on the system and all connectedequipment after completed the HDMIconnection.

    System Power Off

    System Audio Control

    You can enjoy the sound from TV orother equipment by a simple operation.

    You can use the System Audio Controlfunction as follows: When the system is turned on, the

    sound of the TV or other equipmentcan be output from the speakers of thesystem.

    When sound from the TV or otherequipment is output via the speakersof the system, you can switch thesound to output from the TV speakersby pressing SPEAKERS TVyAUDIO.

    When sound from the TV or otherequipment is output via the speakersof the system, you can adjust thevolume and turn off the sound of thesystem by operating the TV.

    Audio Return Channel

    You can enjoy TV sound via the systemby using just one HDMI cable. For detailsof the setting, see [Audio ReturnChannel] (page 61).

    Language Follow

    When you change the language for theon-screen display of the TV, thesystems on-screen display language isalso changed after turning off and onthe system.

    Routing Control

    When you perform One-Touch Play onthe connected equipment, the systemturns on and sets the systems functionto HDMI1 or HDMI2 (depending onthe HDMI input jack in use), and yourTVs input is automatically set to theHDMI input to which the system isconnected.

    The system outputs a loud test soundwhen [Auto Calibration] starts. Youcannot turn the volume down. Giveconsideration to children and neighbors.

    Before [Auto Calibration], make sure that all the speakers are connected to the

    main unit and surround amplifier. the surround amplifier is turned on and

    you have installed the surroundamplifier in an appropriate location toensure wireless connection with it.

    7 Press V/vto select [OK].To cancel, select [Cancel].

    8 Press .[Auto Calibration] starts.The system adjusts the speakersettings automatically.Be quiet during the measurement.

    While [Auto Calibration] is in progress,do not operate the system.

    9 Confirm the result of [AutoCalibration].The distance and level for eachspeaker appear on the TV screen.

    If measurement fails, follow themessage then retry [AutoCalibration].

    If no center speaker is detected, the[Centre Speaker] will be

    automatically set to [Off].

    10 Press V/vto select [OK] or[Cancel], then press .

    Using the Sleep Timer

    You can set the system to turn off at a

    preset time, so you can fall asleeplistening to music.

    Press SLEEP.

    Each time you press SLEEP, the minutesdisplay (the remaining time) in the toppanel display changes by 10 minutes.

    When you set the sleep timer, theremaining time appears every

    5 minutes.When the remaining time is less than2 minutes, SLEEP flashes in the toppanel display.

    To check the remaining time

    Press SLEEP once.

    To change the remaining time

    Press SLEEP repeatedly.

    Deactivating the Buttonson the Main Unit

    (Child Lock)

    You can deactivate the buttons on themain unit (except for "/1) for preventingmisoperation, such as child mischief.

    Touch and hold xon the main unit formore than 5 seconds.LOCKED appears in the top paneldisplay.The child lock function is activated andthe buttons on the main unit are locked.

    (You can operate the system by usingthe remote control.)To cancel, touch and hold xfor morethan 5 seconds until UNLOCK appearsin the top panel display.

    Changing the Brightness

    You can change the brightness of thefollowing items: Illumination LED on the speakers

    (BDV-N9200WL/BDV-N7200WL only) Top panel display Indicator of the soft-touch buttons LED indicator on the top panel

    Press DIMMER.

    Each time you press the button, thebrightness of the item is changed.You can adjust the brightness in3 levels.*

    You can enjoy the visualizer effectwhich simulates the beat of the playedback sources to the colorful designs andgraphics. You can stream the effectsduring music playback (only forBD/DVD, USB, FM, TV, BT andAUDIO functions) and built-in sounddemonstration.

    The visualizer effect may becomeunsmooth when you play back High BitrateAudio content more than 15 Mbps.

    Enjoying SpeakerIllumination

    only)You can experience a more REALimmersive feeling just like you are in astadium, live stage or inside the movieby turning on the illumination on thespeakers. You can select the front andsurround speakers illumination patternaccording to your preference.

    The illumination LED light is bright, be sureto avoid looking directly at the LED light. Ifthe illumination is glaring, you can turn offthe speaker illumination or adjust thebrightness of the illumination LED(page 49).

    We recommend you to use the speakersunder the following conditions.

    Place the speakers about 0.5 meter awayfrom the wall.

    Better illumination effect when placed infront of a brightly-colored wall.

    Browsing Websites
