Many students interested in our trips & ministry. A full schedule of trips and activities for students… Please be praying for our busy calendar (on back)! Dear Friends & Family, We apologize for the delay since our last update. Thank you to all who have been praying for our transition. Our last letter left off with us getting ready to leave our home in Florida for a new home and ministry in Vermont. We made it! Here are some highlights from our summer: LATE JUNE: We finished packing, thanks to great help from many friends. Mike and his brother, Matt, drove the moving truck up the east coast in 2 ½ days! JULY Caryn & Hudson flew up with her mom (who helped us pack AND unpack!) a few days later. Unpacking, some basic training, and getting to know Burlington, VT & our new team. Travel to Colorado for the Campus Crusade bien- nial staff conference. There where heard from Tim Keller (among others), who called us to remember & share the great Hope God is calling us to, not only the hopelessness from which He called us. Support-raising time in Ohio AUGUST Return to VT to finish unpacking our boxes and setting up the house Two weeks of planning & training for the upcoming school year. We feel like we have been drinking from a fire hose! Students arrive & we begin our new ministry! We are really excited as the school year begins. Our Lifelines team had a table at the Freshman orientation picnic, where almost 170 students expressed an interest in joining us on an outdoor adventure. We call these outings ‘programs’ because each trip has a purpose—whether it is to teach students how to bond or about a specific virtue—and through these programs they experience Christ, as the principles we teach are from God’s Word. Already, we are very impressed with the effectiveness of this approach to attract stu- dents, especially those who have yet to have their own relationship with Christ…and they come back! A non-Christian student shared at our student informational meeting that she is a part of Lifelines because she knows she is loved in our group… she expressed to incoming freshman that through our women’s ‘life group’, she’s learned the Bible really is applicable to our lives. This was great to hear from a student who has not yet made a commitment to follow Christ. As spiritual guides, we are pointing students toward the Creator, and we are very encouraged that even unbelievers are willing to be guided by God through us, hopefully toward a personal relationship with Him. As our director likes to say: The biggest difference between two people is not where they are, but where they are headed…direction is key! Thanks for your faithfulness! Mike & Caryn Bazemore P.S. In all of this, Hudson (now TWO!) has done really well adjusting…he loves our new neighbors and their cats, as well as trips to Lake Champlain (see picture left). Our new home is across the street from an elementary school with lots of play equipment so he—and his parents—get lots of exercise. In the moving truck with all our earthly belongings. Already, we are very impressed with the effectiveness of this approach to attract stu-dents, especially those who have yet to have their own relationship with Christ…and they come back!
