Welcome! Do you ever wish there was something more you could be doing for your patients? Laboratory and clinical

research into the pharmacological effects of herbal medicines is increasing exponentially and revealing

new opportunities to help treat:

• Chronic disease

• Resistant viral and bacterial infections

• Chronic Inflammation

• Tumors and metastasis

• Conditions of old age

• Many of the common disorders we see in veterinary practice

If you want to extend your knowledge and add Chinese Herbal Medicine to your armory, The IVAS

Certification Course and Advanced Certification Course offers you the chance to expand your treatment

options in a very rational, effective and evidenced-based way.

Prerequisites

DVM or equivalent and licensed to administer veterinary treatment to animals (treatment of cases is a

requirement of assessment).

Veterinary students can register but must provide verification of enrolment in a veterinary school with

expected graduation date; and a letter from a certified veterinary Chinese herbalist stating they will

provide case support for required assessments.

Resources

• You will need basic computer and internet skills and access to the internet with download speeds

that allow easy viewing of video lectures.

• You will need a head set or good speakers to listen to online lectures.

• You will require regular study time each week to complete the course within the allocated time.

• Textbooks are not mandatory—detailed study notes may be downloaded and saved.

• You will need to purchase a basic herbal pharmacy to treat your own patients.

Which Certification is for You?

The IVAS Certification in Veterinary Chinese Herbal Medicine will teach you to use a select group of multi-

function Chinese herbal formulas in your practice across a wide range of common conditions.

You can take your training to the next level with the IVAS Advanced Certification in Veterinary Chinese

Herbal Medicine which imparts the ability to unravel and treat more complex cases and effectively use a

wider range of Chinese herbal formulas.

Both courses may be credited toward a post-graduate qualification. More information available at

WHAT PEOPLE WHO HAVE TAKEN A COURSE HAVE TO SAY:

“...I’ve studied TCVM for fifteen years—including four years of human acupuncture college—and I’ve learnt more in the CIVT (IVASW) course than I learned in all those years…” Dr. Marguerite H

“The most wonderful thing to me is that Chinese medicine...fills in these huge, frustrating gaps in Western medicine and give me tools I never dreamed of…” Dr. Sarah L.

“As a graduate of the 2005-2006 IVAS acupuncture course, I jumped at the chance to take the IVAS CIVT course. I am passionate about TCVM, and am at a point where I needed to get serious about learning herbal medicine in-depth. The distance learning format fit in wonderfully with working full-time, starting my own herbal medicine practice and being a single mom…. The material is all very current and provides evidence-based facts to support the course material…. This course has provided an exceptional resource to ex-pand the formulas I (use) normally to treat the cases in my clinic. I am able to look at a formula now and figure out the action of that formula based on the herbs that are in it. I can compare formulas and tell what their differences are and which would be more appro-priate to use, without having to look them up in a formulary. It has provided me with facts from journals, current literature, internet sites and books which I have used to explain to clients more accurately and with greater confidence what the advantages and differ-ences of TCVM compared to traditional medicine, and to be able to integrate the two more successfully in practice.” Dr. Jodi T.

“I thoroughly enjoyed this course…. It is fantastic to be able to do the learning online—in the comfort of our own homes or hospitals. It is so convenient not to have to leave our practices to travel to a distant city to take classes. The College website is excellent because of the forums...the ability to communicate with our classmates and instructors via email and the forums is very efficient”. Dr. Julie S.
