PRINCIPAL REPORT
Wonderful Students at Barnier
A big shout out to Marley and Wade from 4G for being
amazing citizens! They found an adult’s wallet in the
playground and took it to the office immediately so it could
be returned to its rightful owner. The father was so grateful
and we are so proud that we have such honest and
responsible students at our school.
Staff Congratulations and Commiserations
It is with great sadness that I inform you that Mrs Karen
Wolff will be leaving us at the end of this term to take up
a teaching position at a school closer to her family and
home. Mrs Wolff has been a highly valued teacher at Barnier
for the last 16 years. She is an outstanding practitioner and
her experience, professionalism, collegiality and friendship
will be sorely missed by many.
We also congratulate Mrs Christine Doyle on attaining a
promotion to substantive Assistant Principal at a school
closer to her family, starting next term. Mrs Doyle has been
at Barnier for 14 years and will be sadly missed by many, as
she has made outstanding contributions to supporting
students, staff and parents over this long period of time. We
congratulate her on this promotion through merit selection
process and wish her all the very best.
It is also with mixed emotions that we farewell Mrs Kelly
Madanowski next term, as she has gained a substantive
Assistant Principal position through merit selection at a
school much closer to home too! Mrs Madanowski has been
at Barnier for the past 4 years and we congratulate her and
wish her all the best as she embarks on the next exciting
stage of her teaching and leadership career.
We are currently going through due process, as outlined by
the Department of Education, to replace these amazing staff
members and will keep you informed of the outcome once
this is completed.

PRINCIPAL REPORT
Painting and temporary classroom movement
Over the next few weeks and school holidays (and possibly
into early next term), some of our classrooms and the
library, both internally and externally, will be painted as part
of the Department of Education’s scheduled maintenance.
Each year, areas of need are addressed and tended this
way to manage the maintenance of all NSW public schools.
It is a big undertaking and has required a lot of flexibility and
good humour by the staff and students while this is carried
out. We know that short term inconvenience will result in
long term gains but I would like to thank all our incredible
teachers for continuing their quality learning programs
seamlessly in the usual professional manner that we see
from them every day. They are amazing!
If you notice that your child’s classroom is being painted,
you will find the class in the Connected Classroom near the
entry of the library.
Air Conditioning
We would like to let you know that we will be installing air
conditioning in the hall over the next few weeks. We are very
excited about this and expect it to make a big difference at
special events and assemblies. We would also like to thank
Norwest Community Child Care who have kindly offered
to fund half of the cost of this. We look forward to seeing you
in a cooler environment for this year’s Celebrations of
Learning (and many other events).
I would like to wish all our students a happy and safe holiday
break. Remember to listen to your parents and be kind to
each other.

4W’s “Trash Report”
In 4W, as part of our Statistics and Probability lessons, we collected our rubbish from recess and
lunch over a week. Please see the graph below that the students created to represent the
information we gathered. After collecting this data, 4W calculated that, on average, our class
brings to school 62 pieces of rubbish per day. Students then calculated that, on average, all the
classes combined are bringing 2,108 pieces of rubbish into the school grounds each day.

Girls’ Zone Football Gala Day
On Wednesday 4th April, 14 girls from
the Blacktown zone Football team,
coached by Mrs Reedy competed in a
gala day at Valentines Sports Park. We
had three Barnier girls in the team;
Caitlyn Brissett, Jessica Gauci and
Chloe Burston. The girls used their
teamwork skills and played together
really well throughout the day. I am very
proud of their performances. Well done
to our Blacktown Girls Football Team.

Easter Visit to the Quakers Hill Nursing Home
On Tuesday 27th March a number of Year
One classes had the opportunity to visit the
Quakers Hill Nursing Home in celebration
of Easter. Year One students presented
the residents with two songs and
showcased their Easter hats. The students
were extremely excited to also have a visit
from the Easter Bunny during their time at
the nursing home. This day was very
special for one of our students who was
able to see her great grandmother at the
home. She had the opportunity to have a
family photo with her grandparents and
great grandmother.
Easter Celebrations @ BPS
Easter is always an egg-citing time of year at
BPS and this year was no different! What a
fabulous celebration and community event,
where all of our students had their turn to shine
while wearing their amazingly colourful creations.
Congratulations to all the raffle and competition
winners - such egg-cellent work! A huge thank
you to the Barnier community, especially to our
P&C and highly enthusiastic staff. Finally, well
done to kindy on their fabulous first whole school
performance - it was egg-strordinary!

Dear Parents and Carers,
The Riverstone-Schofields RSL Sub-Branch will be conducting an ANZAC Day memorial

Barnier families. Students and their families are welcome to join in the march and
service, and support our leaders as they lay a wreath on behalf of the Barnier
community, which has been kindly provided by the school P&C.
Please note this is not a school event and all parents are responsible for organising
travel to and from the event and for supervising their children. However, students are
encouraged to wear their full school uniform.
