    With a sub-Rs 500 all-you-

can-eat offering, a pleas-ant ambience, and a playarea for kids, BarbequeFactory has some ele-

s in place to make it a decentrant. But when it comes to thethey need to better their act.

SIS: Barbeque Factory is theenture of Leena Restaurants &s Pvt Ltd, and its managementhas decades of experience inospitality industry. The restau-tarted operations just over ah ago.

    ATURE DISH: Shikkampurib, Dal Barbeque

: The prix fixe (set menu) has

the vegetarian version priced at`399 and the non vegetarian at`499, both inclusive of tax,and introductory. While thismight seem value-for-moneyconsidering the number of itemsserved, the quality aspect calls fora sprucing up.

    PARKING: Basement Parking

ALCOHOL: Only in the form ofwine.

VENUE: Barbeque Factory, Lotus 612/1,80 feet Road, 4th Block, Koramangala,

    FOODIES'FEEDBACK

    Barbequeue: My dinner companions

were Selvaprakash, an entrepreneur,Monika Manchanda, prolific food blog-ger, her husband Narendranath, who

works with Dell, and their son, Ojas.

Factory Floor: The factory makes anappearance only in the name, and there

is no specific theme to the restaurant. The interiors manage to exude warmththough, and you could enjoy a view of

the busy 80 feet Road below.

Factorisation: The menu begins with a

veg shorba and fresh fruits, and quicklymoves into a collection of kababs fiveeach in veg and non veg. Chaas isserved throughout the meal and before

we enter the main course, there is aHoney Paratha interlude. The maincourse consists of rotis, a selection of

veg curries and a non veg curry and achoice of veg/chicken biriyani. Themeal ends with a collection of threedesserts, Badam Milk and a Maghai

Paan. The selection of kababs varies on

    a daily basis.

X factor: We began well with the Creamof Tomato soup, mildly spicy andflavourful. The boneless Fish Tikka,

though not Zaffrani as indicated in themenu, was cooked to perfection, andthe groups favourite starter. The Mut-ton Seekh, again not part of the days

menu, but seemingly a replacement forthe Boti Kabab, was a close second. TheChaas kept us good company through-

out the meal. The Honey Paratha wasappreciated for a well managed sweet-salt combination. Though commonlyfound fare, the Gulab Jamun, Semiya

Kheer and even the Badam Milk en-sured that the desserts section was wellrepresented. The meal ended well with

slices of mango presented, for a

change, in a cocktail glass and amaghai paan.

Vex Factor: The Shikampuri kababslacked the slightly crispy exterior, though the mutton version was slightlbetter than its veg counterpart. The

Murg Tikkas were also not the bestweve had. The obvious indicator of thkababs quality was that, despite the

unlimited offering, only the fish tikkaand the mutton seekh made it to thesecond round of kabab consumption.the main course, neither the Aloo Mut

ter nor the Dal Tadka showed any inclnation to enliven the meal. The Biriyawas totally ignored as it was quite dry

    and lacking in masala too.

Service: Friendly staff, but they were

quite clueless about what they wereserving. They also needed a couple ofreminders for getting us a kabab refilAjay, part of the management team,

could be seen going to every table and

courteously soliciting feedback. Heeven convinced Ojas, who usually doe

nt consume orange juice at home, tohave a (complimentary) glass, and warewarded with an It was nice.

Verdict: Barbeque Factory does have few things going for it, but the locatiohas no dearth of gastronomic choices

The restaurant needs to focus more othe food if they want to ensure that peple baar baar barbeque.

    ELECTRONIC CIGARETTES are in reality

crude drug delivery systems for refinednicotine, posing unknown risks with littlenew benefits to smokers, according to to-

bacco control experts.E-cigarettes are constructed to mimicreal cigarettes in size and appearance, but contain no tobacco and are not ciga-

rettes at all. In reality they are deliverydevices for refined nicotine. The U.S.Food and Drug Administration had said

that it would regulate e-cigarettes as "to-bacco products" and not as "drug-deliv-ery devices." That action came after fed-

eral courts blocked the agency from reg-ulating the products as drug-delivery de-vices."The court's decision that e-cigarettes

should be regulated as tobacco prod

and not as drug-delivery devices hasstantially delayed the FDA regulatoryprocess that normally protects the p

health. It has the practical effect of aing manufacturers to sell potentiallygerous refined nicotine products direto consumers," said co-author Natha

Cobb, MD, a pulmonologist and assisprofessor at Georgetown University Mical Center.

The authors argue that a comprehenapproach to regulating products coning refined nicotine is needed to prot

the public's health and should involvCongress, the courts and the FDA.The study was recently published in tNew England Journal of Medicine.
