Baltic Sea

Water samples were taken:

1 – Ventspils;

2 – Liepāja;

3 – Mazirbe.

Water samples were identified by the Latvian Institute of Aquatic.

Water has been examined with a microscope.

In the Baltic Sea water were found:Green algae (Cladophora sp.)

Found in shallow coastal waters.Brown algae (Fucus sp.) To 5-7m depth.

PH level identification in the Latvian Institute of Aquatic

Usually pH ~ 7.5

      If water is more acidic, the faster the snails in the shell begin to dissolve.

Phosphate identification in  the Latvian Institute of Aquatic

Phosphates in winter max, less in summer, spring min.

Water turbidity was not a criterion for discovering phosphate - can be compared to the samples.

Conclusions

• PH is very similar in all seasons 6.5 - 8.5.• Least phosphates is in Ventspils 0.25, most - Mazirbe 1.4 - 2.5.• Water temperature at the sea surface is the coldest in spring,

warmest - in the summer.• Water temperature in the bottom layers is coldest in spring,

warmest – in the summer.• Saltest water is in Liepaja.• The highest wind is in the winter.

Thank you!
