Victorian Tea PartyBALLSTON SPA – Brookside, home of the Saratoga County Historical Society, is very excited to announce that the Victo-rian Tea Party will be held on February 21 and 22. Sue McLane, the Victorian Lady, will guide children through a celebration of Victorian culture, learning about clothing, manners and pastimes. The children will also plan, prepare, and enjoy a traditional tea party. Games and craft activities will also be included. The Victorian Tea Party will be offered two times each day from 9:30-11:30am and 1-3pm. The program is best suited for children ages 6 through 14. MVC Scholarship CompetitionCAPITAL REGION – In 1992, the fi rst Mohawk Valley Cho-rus scholarship winner was selected. The annual competition is upon us once again. It is open to any high school junior or senior within the area: Albany, Fulton, Hamilton, Montgom-ery, Saratoga, Schenectady and Schoharie counties. Each ap-plicant must submit a tape or CD of two selections (one should be a classical number) and three letters of reference (at least one from a vocal music teacher) to scholarship chairman Gay O’Brien, Box 2440, Ballston Spa, NY 12020. Deadline is Feb-ruary 20. A panel of qualifi ed MVC judges will review the tapes and fi nalists may be asked to perform at a live audition. The winner, who will be awarded a $500 scholarship to be used at the student’s discretion, will be contacted by the end of Feb-ruary and will perform at the annual Classics concert March 11. Application forms are being mailed to school and private music teachers throughout the area this month. They may also be obtained from Mrs. O’Brien, 885-3781. Funds for the schol-arship are raised through a weekly 50-50 raffl e conducted by the chorus and special donations earmarked for the scholarship fund. (A)
