GARNSTUDIO DROPS LOVES YOU 3
COLOUR n° 09, burgundy
SKEINS: n° 3 (50g – 150m)
(1.8 OZ - 164 YDS )
KNITTING NEEDLES, size 4.5mm (=US 7)
CROCHET HOOK, size 4mm (G)
STITCH MARKER: 1
SIZE: ONE SIZE
GAUGE : 17 sts x 34 rows = 10 cm x 10 cm
(4 in x 4 in) in garter stitch
MEASUREMENTS:
140cm X 36cm (approx. 55 in x 14 in)
The baktus is triangular, and is worked starting from the tip on one end.
It is worked entirely in garter stitch, with a lace border.
The ODD rows are worked on the RS.
The EVEN rows are worked on the WS.
We suggest placing a marker with wool of a contrasting colour, to distinguish the RS from the WS.
This will make both INCREASES and DECREASES easier, as they ALWAYS occur on the RS.
Inc and Dec are made on the 1st and 5th rows of the lace border; each pattern repeat results in 2 inc
in the first half of the baktus, and 2 dec in the second half of the baktus.
PATTERN:
Cast on 6 sts.
Row 1: K2, 1 AT, pm- the lace border starts here – K1, 1 YO, K2 tog, 1 YO, K1 (8 sts, of which 3
for the baktus and 5 for the lace border).
Row 2: K5, slip stitch marker, K3.
Row 3: K3, slip stitch marker, K2, 1 YO, K2 tog, 1 YO, K1 (9 sts, of which 3 for the baktus and 6
for the lace border).
Row 4: K6, slip stitch marker, K3.
Row 5: K3, 1 AT, slip stitch marker, K3, 1 YO, K2 tog, 1 YO, K1 (11 sts, of which 4 for the baktus
and 7 for the lace border).
Row 6: K7, slip stitch marker, K4.
Row 7: K4, slip stitch marker, 1 YO, K2 tog, 1 YO, K1 (12 sts, of which 4 for the baktus and 8 for
the lace border).
Row 8: cast off 4 sts, K3 , slip stitch marker, K4 (on row 8 there will ALWAYS be 4 sts for the lace
border and 4 sts for the baktus; the n° of sts will vary as the work proceeds)
Repeat rows 1-8 a total of 30 times, in order to have 66 sts on the needles, 4 of which are for the
lace border.
Continue now with the second half of the baktus, the one with decreases. Start on row 1 of the lace
border, with this ONLY DIFFERENCE: dec instead of inc as follows: dec every 4 rows on the 1st
and on the 5th rows (see the dec chart).
Continue these dec until 6 sts remain on needles; cast off but don’t cut the yarn.
With a crochet hook work on the side opposite the tip as follows:
Row 1 (British) : * dc, skip 2 ridges (4 garter stitch rows), 1 tr, 2 ch, 1 tr in the same st, skip 2
ridges *; repeat from * to * to the end.
Row 1 (American) : * sc, skip 2 ridges (4 garter stitch rows), 1 dc, 2 ch, 1 dc in the same st, skip 2
ridges *; repeat from * to *, to the end.
This hook row has a decorative purpose but it also gives more strength to the garter st part.
