SULAWESI : A total of 7,000 mosquito nets for babies has been sent to Majene and Mamasa regencies in West Sulawesi to prevent a malaria outbreak, an official says. The mosquito nets were distributed to women who had just delivered babies to prevent them from contracting the disease, Dr. Achmad Azis said Sunday in Mamuju.

The two regencies were categorized as “yellow” zones, meaning the spread of malaria in these areas was alarming.“Before they become red sones, we should do something to reduce the number of malaria patients,” Achmad said. This year, the provincial government in cooperation with the Global Fund (a global public/private partnership) had earlier distributed a total of 184,000 mosquito nets to families in Mamuju and North Mamuju regencies, which were already categorized as “red zones.”

The text is for number 34 – 38Eat your fruits and vegetables” is one of

the tried and true recommendations for a healthy diet. And for good reason, eating plenty of vegetables and fruits can help you ward off heart disease and stroke, control blood pressure, prevent some types of cancer, a painful intestinal ailment called diverticulitis, and guard against cataract and muscular degeneration, two common causes of vision loss.

There is compelling evidence that a diet rich in fruit and vegetables can lower the risk of heart disease and stroke.

The largest and longest study done as part of the Harvard-based Nurses/ Health Studi and Health professionals Follow-up Study proved that higher the average daily intake of fruits and vegetables, the lower the chances of developing cardiovascular disease. When researchers combined findings from the disease and stroke separately, they found a similar protective effect.

High blood pressure is a primary risk factor tor heart disease and stroke. As such, it’s a condition that is important to control. Diet can be a very effective tool for lowering blood pressure.

Vegetables and fruit are clearly an important part of a good diet. Almost

cause 68% of all food-borne illness and related hospitalizations. Many cases of food poisoning are not reported because people suffer mild symptoms and recover quickly. Also, doctors do not test for a cause in every suspected case because it does not change the treatment or the outcome.

The known causes of food poisoning can be divided into two categories: infectious agents and toxic agents. Infections agents include viruses, bacteria, and parasites. Toxic agents include poisonous mushrooms, improperly prepared exotic foods (such as barracuda – ciguatera toxin) or pesticides on fruits and vegetables.

Food usually becomes contaminated from poor sanitation or preparation. Food handlers who do not wash their hands after using the bathroom or have infections themselves often cause contamination. Improperly packaged food stored at the wrong temperature also promotes contamination.

29. Which toxic agents may poison the food?A. Viruses D. PesticideB. Bacteria E. SanitationC. Parasites

30. What does the text tell us about?A. Poor sanitationB. Food poisoningC. Infectious agentsD. 250 known diseaseE. Improperly packaged food

This text is for numbers 39 – 42It was a summer night. I was not asleep

yet, not even tired. I was just staring up at my ceiling when I heard what I thought was something at my window. I was always scared of nonsense things from watching to many horror movies, so I was reluctant to look through my window shades into the night.

The noise continued as I just stared at the closed window shades. It sounded like scratching or dull scraping. I tried to ignore it and lay down, but it continued, getting louder and louder. I know that it was not a dream because I was fully conscious and even pinched myself so hard I had a welt the next day.

Anyway, I gathered all of my courage and crept slowly to my window. I held my finger out and raised one of the blinds. I had my eyes closed doing this. I opened my eyes and looked out. My eyes met another pair of eyes. What I saw will haunt me for all of my life. It was about 15 feet away from my window. It was a naked dark grey creature about 3 to 4 feet tall.

I immediately shut the blind and run out of my room. I was in the hallway when something strange happened. I was running when my eyes rolled up in to my head and all I saw black. The next thing I knew was facedown in my bed.

There are also disadvantages of organic gardening though. Compared with industrialized gardening methods, using organic gardening methods take much more time and skill. There is also more interaction between the plants, gardens, and the organic gardener, whereas the gardener takes very little action with industrialized methods.
