The early closure or late start of school is quite common around theworld as a means of achievingmeaningful planning time for teachers in linewith standards for accreditation and evaluation. Asmore and more teachers are collaborative in nature and this involves teachers from differentdepartments, year levels and even sections of the School; it has placed increasing pressure on our

traditional timetable. Following our IB Evaluation visit in 2009, NISTwas encouraged to find timefor collaborative planning and reflection in all teachers schedules by devising an effective andsustainable system to facilitate collaborative planning (e.g. a monthly early release day)within andacross subject disciplines. After researching howother schools are dealing with this situation, wediscovered that early dismissal of students is the most popular solution. This solution has beenadopted by ISB here in Bangkok. In the EY centre the school daywill end at 12:00 on the aboveTuesdays. Lunchwill still be eaten at school on these days. Thiswill allow teachers additional timeforworking collaborativelywith their colleagues to producewell designed units, lessons and activities

that should further enhance student learning.
