Our Puebla campus is buzzing with excitement for the school year that just started, with classes in our new building, new uniforms, new books and limitless opportunities for students to grow in their love of learning. Our students are attending school along with 40 new classmates from Nations Church and the community near Esperanza Viva. We are thrilled that parents in the community are trusting us with the education of their children. This truly is, for so many, a dream come true. We thank everyone for your part in making this happen.

The first major step of Nations School is accomplished: the building was completed in June and classes began on August 21st! However, we are still in need of important supplies and equipment for this school year.

Your partnership is crucial to seeing God’s plan to educate the least of these come to fruition. Any gift, no matter the size, brings us closer to bringing integral and Christ-centered education to the children of Puebla.

The solemn words seem to hang suspended in the courtroom. The seven year old’s eyes dart over to look at her older sister, pleading silently for some form of reassurance that everything would be okay. Her sister refuses to lift her gaze from the dirty floor. She turns slightly to look at the judge again, squirming behind the hollow wooden divider. With eyes wide, she nervously swallows, parts her lips and speaks a soft “yes.”

Four young siblings were testifying against their own mother in a case in which their beautiful sister had been tragically sold and grotesquely lost to sex trafficking. Not only was it to bring justice for their sister; it was for the protection and safety of the rest of their family, preventing them from becoming the next victims. Although each case is different, it is

often due to lack of education, poverty, and downright desperation that leads family members, and even parents, to sell their children into the sex trade. In Mexico, an estimated 20,000 children, not including foreigners, are trafficked

through Mexico as victims of sex trafficking every year. Through Esperanza Viva Youth

Home (EV), two of the children from the previous account were rescued and have found healing and redemption in Jesus Christ. Since this particular case, we’ve rescued a growing number of children from this evil industry, who were living in brothels, used by those around them, and at risk of being stripped of hope forever. As EV continues to combat sex trafficking, we know that God is bringing us these children to both provide protection and to heal and empower them. Your

partnership with LHI allows these innocent little ones to escape a life on the brink of destruction and find new life in Jesus Christ.

With bravery and open hearts, two girls who grew up at Esperanza Viva Youth Home are attending the 27th class of La Viña Ministry Training Center. Grecia and Lupita will participate in a program that has already trained nearly 500 students. Started in 2003, the vision for La Viña was to provide a place to raise and equip future leaders. Students pass through 1-3 levels of training, depending on their needs and abilities. The first level

is four and a half months of intense Bible study, service and evangelism. After graduation, they can apply for Level 2 which is six months of continued study and volunteering their gifts within the ministries of Living Hope International. Level 3 is six additional months serving in a concentrated area within the ministry. It has been a joy to see so many young adults from Mexico, the United States and beyond following what God has called them to!

3DREAM COME TRUEIn more than 20 years of ministry we have

seen an array of visitors pass through our doors and we continue to be amazed! Margaret Wilcox celebrated her 78th birthday

during her first-ever missions trip to Puebla, Mexico. She opened her heart to our staff and shared the obstacles that almost impeded her dream of going on a missions trip. Prior to the trip, Margaret had insisted that she would not be a valuable asset to the team. She even threw out her preliminary paperwork after meeting prospective team members 20, 30, even 50 years younger than herself. However, her teammates and her Lord persisted. As she later spoke of her decision to participate, her words were loaded with joyful victory as she humbly recalled accepting her team members’ encouragement to “just be willing.” After seeing the impact Margaret had on the kids as well as the staff,

it was clear that God was delighted to use her willing heart and fulfill her lifelong dream. Learn more about how God can use your willing heart on a short-term
