Accumulate: 144 credit points towards the degree (BCS)192 credit points towards the degree (BCSAH)

Note: BCSAH students should maintain at least a Distinction average (70%) across 48 points of FIT units, or the total of your FIT coded unit enrolment, if 48 credit points have not yet been completed. If you do not meet this requirement you may be required to transfer to the BCS or BIT degree.

Keeping your enrolment active

§ Enrol in units today (if you haven’t already) for both semesters of 2018.

§ Enrol in tutorials and labs for each semester a couple of weeks before the start of semester.

§ Meet all financial obligations.

§ Re-enrol for the next year (2019) in October 2018. You will receive email reminders about re-enrolling. Fines apply for late re-enrolment!

§ Pass at least half the units taken during the academic year and not fail any core unit more than once.

Academic units§ Units have a code and a name

– e.g. FIT1045 Algorithms and programming fundamentals in python

§ The year of study, 1st year, 2nd year etc., is the first digit of each unit code.§ In each year of study, you usually (but not always) take units at that year

level. § A standard load involves taking 4 units per semester.§ Core units are compulsory for your degree and elective units can be chosen

within the guidelines given in your course map. If you fail a core unit you must repeat it.

Over your whole degree, you are allowed:§ First year level units: Normally 8 units (48 points), and a maximum of 10

units (60 points).§ Third year level units: A minimum of 6 units (36 points).Double degree students are advised to check with their home faculty regarding year level requirements.

BCS Specialisations

Either:- Advanced Computer Science (won’t appear explicitly on your

transcript)

- Data Science (will appear explicitly on your transcript)

Each Specialisation consists of 8 units and includes a full year project or IBL placement.
