By: XAVIER COLE Staff Writer Coach Chris Messer and staff, along with the Tomcat baseball organization, hosted a summer baseball camp for children ages 5 and up to incoming freshmen last week. Campers were taken through various drills during the camp, while also learning more about the game of baseball. Coach Messer stated in his closing address, “I hope you all learned a little more about the game of baseball, while improving and expanding your skills.” In a post camp interview Messer said, “We had a great turn- out, considering this is the first camp. We hope to make this an annual camp, or possibly even twice a year, a summer and a winter camp. It was fun working with this kids who actually have a desire to excel in baseball. The talent I’ve seen out here tells me there is a promising future for Tomcat baseball.” The Tomcats continue their summer league play, to improve for next season. The tomcats play Jackson Southside Tuesday, JV at 4 and varsity at 6.
