BradleyHanson,Ph.D.,DirectorofFolklifeDr.BradleyHansonjoinedtheTennesseeArtsCommissioninJanuary2015.Anethnomusicologistandfolklorist,hepreviouslyworkedasaculturalinterpreterfortheTennesseeStateParksandtheFriendsoftheCumberlandTrail.AspartoftheCumberlandTrailMusicandHeritageproject,hiseffortsincludedfieldresearch,archivalmanagement,interpretivewriting,andrecordandradioproductioncenteredonregionalcultureandfolklife.

Hehasalsocollaboratedonprogramming,preservation,anddocumentaryprojectswithHumanitiesTennessee,CampbellCulturalCoalition,JubileeCommunityArtsandtheTennesseeArchiveofMovingImageandSound.In2011,hewasgiventheBlantonOwenFundAwardfromtheAmericanFolklifeCenterattheLibraryofCongresstosupporthisfieldworkwithbluegrass,countryandgospelmusiciansinEastTennessee.

HegraduatedfromBrownUniversitywithaPh.D.inEthnomusicologyinMay2014.Hisdissertation,TunedOurWay:Music,Memory,andHeritageinEastTennessee,iscurrentlybeingrevisedforpublicationbytheUniversityofIllinoisPress.

KimJohnson,DirectorofArtsAccessKimJohnsonjoinedtheTennesseeArtsCommissioninSeptember2015.Herpositionincludesensuringaccesstotheartsforunderservedcommunities,TitleVIcoordinationandcompliance,andincreasedartsopportunitiesforpersonswithdisabilities.

PriortojoiningtheTennesseeArtsCommission,JohnsonworkedasDirectorofProgramsfortheNationalMuseumofAfricanAmericanMusicandasVicePresidentofProgramsattheScarritt-BennettCenter,bothnonprofitorganizationslocatedinNashvillewhereshedevelopedprogramsforpeopleinthecommunity.AttheScarritt-BennettCenter,Johnsonhelpedco-leadtheaward-winningmulticulturalfestival,CelebrationofCultures,(nowcalledCelebrateNashville).Shehasextensivenonprofitexperiencethatspansover25yearsandbeforemovingtoNashville,sheworkedattheUnitedWayofGreaterCincinnatiinallocationsmanagementandoutcomes-basedevaluationsdevelopment.Aftergraduateschool,JohnsonalsospenttwoyearsasacollegeprofessoratEasternKentuckyUniversity.

JohnsonhasaB.S.inHealthcareAdministrationfromtheUniversityofSouthAlabamaandaMastersinPublicAdministrationfromEasternKentuckyUniversity.

MichelleMcEwen,AccountingTechnicianIIMichelleMcEwenhasbeenwiththeTennesseeArtsCommissionsince2007.Sheisresponsibleforaccountspayable,grantcontracts,theinventoryequipment,andprocurement.ShereceivedherBachelor’sdegreeinBusinessAdministrationfromLaneCollege,whereshegraduatedmagnacumlaude.

Previously,sheworkedasanaccountingtechnicianfortheTennesseeHigherEducationCommission.Shehasalsoworkedasataxpreparer,dataentryclerk,andcheckprocessoratorganizationssuch


astheNashvilleCareerAdvancementCenterandAmericanStandard.CurrentlysheispursuingaMaster’sdegreeinBusinessAdministrationfromtheUniversityofPhoenix.

VickieMcPherson,ArtsProgramAdministrativeAssistantVickieMcPhersonisanAdministrativeAssistantfortheArtsPrograms.ShehasbeenwiththeTennesseeArtsCommissionforfiveandahalfyearsandhasbeenastateemployeeofTennesseeformorethantenyears.

Herroleistosupporttheartsprogramdirectorswithgrantprocessingandprogramming,mainlythroughresearchingorganizationsandcategorizinggrants.ShealsomanageshumanresourcestransactionsfortheCommission.HerpreviouspositionwaswiththestateHumanResourcesDepartment.Priortothat,shehandledaccountingforUPSandtheMid-StateAutomotive.

JaredMorrison,DirectorofPerformingArtsJaredMorrisonbeganhistenureasPerformingArtsDirectorattheTennesseeArtsCommissioninJanuary2014.Forthepast15years,hehasheldmarketing,developmentandartisticadministrationpositionsatmanyrespectedartsinstitutions,includingtheNashvilleandChicagosymphonyorchestras,SpiveyHall,SarasotaOperaandLyricOperaofChicago.

MorrisonholdsaB.M.inVocalPerformancefromShorterCollege,aM.M.inArtsAdministrationfromFloridaStateUniversity,andisaformerOPERAAmericaFellow.InadditiontohisworkwiththeCommission,heisanactivevocalsoloistandchoralmusician.

DianeWilliams,DirectorofGrantsManagementDianeWilliamshasbeenwiththeTennesseeArtsCommissionsince2003.Inherrole,sheoverseesgrantcontractsfromstarttofinishandworkswithgranteestoensurethatproperfilingandbudgetaryprotocolsarebeingfollowed.Shealsoconductspre-auditsofgrantpaymentrequestsandmaintainsadetailedrecordofallsubmittedandapprovedgrants.

InadditiontoherworkwiththeCommission,WilliamsisalongtimememberofDeltaSigmaThetaSorority,Inc.forwhichsheservedpreviouslyaspresident,treasurer,andfinancialsecretary.SheisalsoaboardmemberandformertreasureroftheFortitudeFoundation.Priortohercurrentposition,Williamsworkedinthebankingindustryfor28years,startinghercareeratFirstAmericanBank.ShereceivedherB.S.fromTennesseeStateUniversity.

LangstonCollinWilkins,Ph.D.,TraditionalArtsSpecialistDr.LangstonCollinWilkinsjoinedtheTennesseeArtsCommissioninNovember2017.Priortojoiningthecommission,heworkedasaprogramofficerforHumanitiesTennesseewherehewasprimarilyresponsibleforyouth-orientedprograms.LangstonwasaLauraBoltonJuniorFellowintheDepartmentofFolklore&EthnomusicologyatIndianaUniversitywhereheengagedinresearchandgeneratedprogrammingrelatedtoAfricanAmericanmusic.Inaddition,heservedasafellowfortheFolklifeandTraditionalArtsProgramoftheHoustonArtsAllianceandtheHoustonMuseumofAfricanAmericanCulturewhereheconductedfieldworkandproducedpublicprogramsthatcenteredonthetraditionalartsofHouston’sAfricanDiasporiccommunities.Langstonalsoco-foundedtheHoustonSlabParade&FamilyFestival,artcarculturethatemergedwithinHouston,Texas’AfricanAmericancommunity.

LangstonholdsaBAinEnglishfromtheUniversityofTexasatAustin.HeholdsMasterofArtsdegreesinbothAfricanAmericanStudiesandEthnomusicologyfromIndianaUniversity.HereceivedhisPhDinEthnomusicologyfromIndianaUniversityinJuly2016.
