Translation Notes

The following table shows the transliteration system used in this translation. Also note that contemporary ‘Arabic typing indicates a kasrah below the tashdīd and not below the letter as is used in

Indian-style prints of the Qurān, e.g. as-Sirāt اطا

Alif ا has been used instead of elongated fathah e.g. إBasmalah is the technical name for Bismillāhir Rahmānir Rahīm

PREFACE

All praise be to Allāh as is His right to be praised. Salutations and peace be upon the best of His creation, Muhammad, his family, his Companions and those who follow them in goodness until the Day of Reckoning.

Were you witnesses when death approached Ya‘qūb when he said to his sons, “Whom will you worship after me?” They said, “We shall worship your god and the god of your ancestors Ibrāhīm, Ismā’īI and Ishāq. We indeed submit unto Him.” [al-Baqarah:133] Abū Hurayrah narrated that Rasūlullāh said:

“When the slave [of Allāh] dies, all his deeds are terminated except three – perpetual charity, a deed through which others still benefit and a pious offspring who offer du’ā for him.” [al-Bukhārī, Muslim, Abū Dāwūd, Ahmad, an-Nasāī, Ibn Khuzaymah, al-Bayhaqī, ad-Dāramī, Ibn Hibbān, Abū ‘Awānah, Abū Ya’lah, Ibn ‘Asākir, al-Miskāt, al-Adab al-Mufrad, Fadāiluz Zikr of Shaykhul Hadīth]

It has thus always been the concern of the Ambiyā ‘alayhimus salām and the pious predecessors that their descendants remain firm upon the Pure Dīn. Alhamdulillāh, with that desire in mind, this slave has made an effort in that direction. This book is a result of that. May Allāh Most Pure, accept it and make it a means of success in both worlds for this slave and the compiler Nu’mān; and especially for those who assist the Jāmi’ and those who read and practise upon

this book. May Allāh admit us all into Jannatul Firdaws.

Your servant, ‘Abdul Mannān ‘Abdurrazzāq Al-Haram, Makkah ash-Sharīfah

The COMPILOR AND HIS FAMILY: A BRIEF BACKGROUND

I am al-Hāfizh Nu’mān, son of ‘Abdul Mannān bin ‘Abdirrazzāq bin Allāh Dād bin Sardār bin Allāh Yār (Kulachī) bin Allāh Nawāz bin Dādullāh bin Khayrullāh bin Sāhib Jān bin ‘Abdillāh bin Qāsim bin Muhammad Nu’mān bin Hāmid bin ‘Abdil Hādī bin ‘Abdil Latīf bin ‘Abdil Karīm bin Nasrillāh bin Imdādillāh bin Muhammad Sharīf bin Sharīfid Dīn bin Salāhiddīn bin Rahīmillāh bin Asadillāh bin Muhammad bin ‘Abdir Rahīm bin Ibrāhīm bin Muhammad (Pandādan Khān) bin Zamān ‘Alī Shāh* bin Muhammad ‘Awn Qutb Shāh al-Baghdādī al-Qādirī (a khalīfah of Hadrat ‘Abdul Qādir al-Jīlānī) bin Ya’lā bin Hamzah bin Tāhir bin Qāsim bin ‘Alī bin Ja’far bin Hamzah bin Hasan bin Hāshim bin ‘Abdillāh bin Muhammad Ibn al-Hanafīyah bin ‘Ali bin Abī Tālib bin ‘Abdil Muttalib al-Hāshimī al-Qurashī. *Zamān ‘Ali Shāh of Khokar, the Bloodshedder, the undefeatable, conqueror of Kashmīr, Lahore and Delhi; builder of Shāhdarah; at the conquest of Somnāt he pierced the defence lines and it is famous today as Khokar Apār. I was born 22

nd Sha’bān 1408 (29

th March 1988) to an educated

family in Hyderābād, Sind. My father, ‘Abdul Mannān, is a civil engineer. His spiritual reformation connections are with Hadrat Mawlānā Ashraf Khān as-Sulaymāni of Peshāwar, Hadrat Faqīr Muhammad, Hadrat Qamruz Zamān Ilāhābādī – may Allāh grant him a long life. He has received Ijāzah and Khilāfah from these elders. Thus he attained the effulgence and blessings of three great spiritual personalities – al-Imām ar-Rabbānī Hadrat Mawlānā Rashīd Ahmad of Gangoh, Hadrat Hakīmul Ummah and Hadrat Mawlānā Fadlur Rahmān Ganj Murādābādī. This manifests itself from his teachings and from this book. My father’s permission in reciting of Hadīth includes for example: Our Shaykh Hadrat Mawlānā Qamruz Zamān has permitted me from Shāh Wasīullāh Ilāhābādī, from his Shaykh, the leader of

Page 8: Azkar English Book

Muhadithūn al-‘Allāmah Anwar Shāh al-Kashmīrī, from his Shaykh, Shaykhul Hind Mawlānā Mahmūd Hasan ad-Deobandī, from Shaykhil Mashāikh al-Hind al-‘Allāmah Rashīd Ahmad Gangohī, like that from al-‘Allāmah Habībur Rahmān al-A‘zhamī from his Shaykh al-‘Allāmah Abū al-Anwār Muhammad ‘Abdul Ghaffār al-Muawī from ash-Shaykh Hakīmul Ummah Ashraf ‘Alī Thanwī. From there, their chains are well known throughout the world. May Allāh have mercy on them all. He learnt Fiqh and Usūlul Fiqh from al-Muftī ‘Azīzur Rahmān (Formerly muftī of Jāmi’īyah Ashrafīyah, then he migrated to Makkah). My father hails from Kulāchī, Dayrah Ismāīl Khān, North-West Frontier Province. He belongs to a renowned religious, landowning family of the province who were zealous participants in the independence struggle. My father’s initial religious education (Arabic and Persian) was under the guidance of students of Hadrat Shaykhul Islām Mawlānā Husayn Ahmad Madanī. Hadrat Madanī had visited Kalāchī in 1365 Hijrī (1946). My family still speaks often of that event. My mother hails from this same area. Her father was Civil Engineer in Jāmshoro, Korī Berāj, Sind. Which is why she relocated there and I was born there. She graduated from Jāmshoro Medical College as a qualified lady doctor. Her Shaykh, Hadrat Sulaymānī used to say, “Her condition is better than that of ‘Abdul Mannān.” Her services to Hadrat Sulaymānī and Mawlānā Faqīr Muhammad in the Haramayn Sharīfayn were without limit. Mawlānā Faqīr Muhammad used to say, “My own daughters never served me as much as ‘Abdul Mannān’s wife did.” My mother attributed my birth to the du’ā of Mawlānā Faqīr Muhammad. My parents had been married for twelve years, yet had remained childless. In fact, in my mother’s family nobody has children till present. After living for a year and a half in Jāmshoro, my mother took to me to live with my father in Makkah al-Mukarramah. He was the Civil Engineer of the Haramayn Sharīfayn – a position he holds to the present day. As soon as I could start speaking, my respected father – my Allāh grant him a long life – taught me to recite du’ās. From the beginning of school I used to recite Sūrah Yāsīn and the duās contained that follow [in this book]. Alhamdulillāh, this habit continues until today. Alhamdulillāh, long before beginning school, my father made me start memorising the Qurān in the Haram Sharīf. Al-Qārī Muhammad Iqbāl Multānī was my teacher for this. He remains my teacher. In 1414 (1994) when I was five years old, my father admitted me into the Arabic “modern” school, Madāris al-Fadl al-Ilāhīyah. In 1419 (1999) I completed primary school at the age of ten. In that same year, I completed the memorisation of the Qurān on 1

st Ramadān (8

th

December 1999) in the Haram Sharīf, through the du’ās of the pious and elders. In the same year I had the good fortune to write these du’ās. The compilation was later captured on computer. In this way it came into the possession of certain people throughout the world. In 1422 (2002) I completed Middle School. That was also the year I visited Pākistān after a long separation. In 1425 (August 2004) I accompanied my father on a journey of spiritual reformation and Tablīgh to five nations. They were Britain, South Africa, Myanmar, Bangladesh and Pākistān. It was a memorable journey wherein I saw and learnt much. It was at that time that this slave’s compilation of du’ās gained acceptance to a fair extent. Some seniors therefore commissioned me to provide references. Alhamdulillāh, not only did Allāh grant me the ability to complete that task, but beneficial and tested Masnūn azkār and actions were added for the benefit of the treader of the spiritual path at all stages. Besides this, my father has many Murīds (spiritual followers) throughout the world. It has been the responsibility of this slave to write the responses to their letters on their spiritual reformation. This function I still fulfil. It is also my good fortune to serve the guests who visit my father. During Ramadān al-Mubārak and the Hajj season their numbers are incalculable. My beloved younger brother, al-Hāfiz Sulaymān (may Allāh keep him safe) greatly helps me in this regard. Looking after the trusts of the guests of ar-Rahmān and returning them, are his special responsibilities. I completed school in 1426 (2005) the same year wherein I completed this book under the guidance of my respected father. I praise Allāh that my younger sister has also memorised the Qurān and that Sulaymān has also recently completed his memorisation in the Haram Sharīf. O Allāh, make our ends good in all our affairs and save us from the humiliation of this world and the punishment of the Hereafter. Nu’mān bin ‘Abdil Mannān

Allāhumma bi asmāikal husnā wa sifātikal ‘ulyā, asaluka an taj‘alal Qurān rabī‘a qalbī wa jalāa huznī wa zihāba hammī O Allāh! Through Your Most Beautiful Names and Most High Qualities, I ask You to make the Qurān the freshness of my heart, that which polishes away my sorrow and takes away my worry. [al-Hisn al-Hasīn]

Recite the Names of Allāh, then the above du‘ā, then the morning and evening du’ās. Those following a Shaykh should seek his instructions.

ا3%- ا+12/-al-Ism al-A‘zham: The Greatest Name

There are several views regarding al-Ism al-A‘zham: 1. There is a hidden Name amongst the 99 Names. It is al-Ism al-A‘zham [al-Hisn al-Hasīn] Whoever recites them will have his du‘ā accepted [at-Tirmizī, Hākim]. Jannah is compulsory for that person who offers du‘ā by means of these Names. It is those Names through memorising them one enters Jannah and establishes Allāh is in His Unity. Allāh loves odd numbers in this deed. [al-Bukhārī, Muslim, Kitābul Azkār – narration of Abū Hurayrah ]

al-Imām Mālik and al-Imām Jarīr at-Tabarī too hold this view. [Manāqib Ibn Hibbān]

To gain additional closeness to Allāh, one may institute multiple intentions during nafl Salāh. Therefore add these intentions in at the least the last two Rak‘āt of your nafl. 1. Salātut Tawbah – repent of all minor and major sins. 2. Salātul Hājah – for your current and future needs and that of all friends, family, beloved ones and Muslims 3. Salātush Shukr – gratitude for all bounties, those we are aware of and those we are not. 4. Salātul Istikhārah – seeking goodness in all one’s work for

Mention the need in place of the underlined words or at least ponder over it when reading the underlined words. When an important decision has to be made, e.g. marriage, employment etc, seek goodness from Allāh in this manner. Inshāallāh there will be no problem in the matter. The Sunnah is to perform Istikhārah oneself, not to ask others to perform it on one’s behalf. It is however Sunnah to consult with others. Continue Istikhārah as long as indecision remains. Do not

Nubalā of az-Zahabī, al-Mishkāt, Fadāilul Qurān – narration of ‘Alī and Ibn ‘Abbās ]

This deed should be done for seven nights (before Jumu‘āh) without losing any week in between. The best is if one can recite these Sūrahs in Salāh as described. If one cannot recite from memory, recite the four Sūrahs from the Qurān as described, between Maghrib and ‘Ishā. It is said that through the blessings of this deed, Mawlānā Anwar Shāh Kashmīrī wrote from memory, thousands of pages which he had read. A student complained to Mawlānā Ashraf ‘Alī Thānwī about weak memory. Mawlānā instructed him to perform this deed for seven weeks. After the seven weeks he perceived no difference. Mawlānā asked him, “With what intention did you perform the deed?” “For a good memory,” replied the student. Mawlānā said, “Your intention should be for the pleasure of Allāh and following the Sunnah of Rasūlullāh . Thereafter you may consider any further benefits.” According to Mawlānā Thānwī, Mawlānā Anwar Shāh Kashmīrī and my father, this deed may be performed together with Awwābīn. For a good memory, place your hand on your forehead after every Fard Salāh and recite the following name of Allāh 11 times:

Page 42: Azkar English Book

33

Yی /ي Yā Qawīyu O Most Strong! [Mawlānā Ashraf ‘Alī Thānwī, Anfās ‘Īsā]

Another practice for good memory is to recite the following āyāt and blow on any food or drink, especially sweet things, before consuming them:

Uم وF/رض ش\ة ا ا (> ی")Y *) س(*| ا> انNQ "U ا)ت آF"ت ا انU ا ]ی] [ . U ن ا U آ-]* V و ]2FK

[A‘māl Qurānī of Mawlānā Ashraf ‘Alī Thānwī]

‘Alī said that three things assist one’s memory, Miswāk, fasting and recitation of the Qurān. [Ihyāul ‘Ulūm, Fadāilul Qurān]

Du’ā with Sajdah Āyāt

At-Tahtāwī the Egyptian wrote on page 272 of al-Murāqī al-Fallāh that he who has a dire necessity should perform wudū and sit facing Qiblāh. He should recite the all Ayāt of Sajdah in such a way that immediately after reciting an āyah he should perform the Sajdah, then only should he read the next āyah and perform its Sajdah. After completing all 14, he should praise Allāh, convey salutations upon Rasūlullāh and seek forgiveness. He should then present his permissible needs to Allāh. Inshāallāh his du‘ā will be accepted. Mashāikh and ‘Ulamā have found this deed reliable. The 14 Āyāt are as follows:

Āyāt of cure

Abul Qāsim al-Qushyarī narrates that his child became so ill that he feared that the child was going to die. He saw Rasūlullāh in a dream and explained his child’s condition to him. Rasūlullāh asked him why he did not practise reciting the āyāt of cure and seek cure through them. He searched through the Qurān, and found six āyāt of cure. He wrote them on and then dissolved them in water. When the child drank the water it was immediately cured. Mawlānā Thānwī said that whether written on a plate and the washed off water given to drink or whether hung as a ta‘wīz around the neck, inshāallāh the disease will be cured however severe it may be. [The most practical way of writing it is with saffron if you intend drinking it – translator]

The āyāt are:

Neither slumber nor sleep overtakes Him. Unto Him belonges whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth. Who is he that intercedeth with Him save by His leave? He knows that which is in front of them and that which is behind them, while they encompass nothing of His knowledge save what He will. His throne extends over the heavens and the earth, and He is never weary of preserving them. He is the Sublime, the Tremendous. There is no compulsion in religion. The right direction is henceforth distinct from error. And he who rejects false deities and believes in Allah has grasped a firm handhold which will never break. Allah is Hearer, Knower. Allah is the Protecting Friend of those who believe. He brings them out of darkness into light. As for those who disbelieve, their patrons are false deities. They bring them out of light into darkness. Such are rightful owners of the Fire. They will abide therein forever.

If We had caused this Qurān to descend upon a mountain, you would indeed seet humbled, rent asunder by the fear of Allah. Such similitudes coin We for mankind that they may reflect. He is Allāh besides Whom there is no other god. The Knower of the unseen and the seen, He is Most Merciful and Merciful unto all. He is Allāh besides Whom there is no other god, the King, the Holy, the Giver of peace, the Giver of security, the Overseer of all, the Dominant over all, the Prevailing over all, the Self-Glorious. Pure is Allāh from that which they associate with Him! He is Allāh, the Creator, The Creator of life, the Fashioner of shapes. To Him belongs the most beautiful names. All that is in the heavens and earth declare his purity. He is the possessor of all honour and wisdom. 15. Sūratul Kāfirūn with Basmalah 16. Sūratul Ikhlās with Basmalah 17. These same āyāt, with some more or less, are found in Baheshtī Zehwar of Mawlānā Thānwī. al-Qawl al-Jamīl of Shāh Walīullāh Muhaddith Dehlawī, states, “These are 33 āyāt which repel magic and devils and protects against thieves and beasts. Bahesgtī Zewar states, “If someone is suspected of being afflicted

with evil Jinn, write these āyāt and hang it around his neck. Recite them and blow in water which you should sprinkle over him. If there is evil effects on the house, recite the āyāt over water, blow on it, and sprinkle in the four corners of the house.” Shāh ‘Abdul ‘Azīz Muhaddith Dehlawī wrote that one should write the last āyah of each Sūrah and hang this as a ta‘wīz around the neck. This offers protection against magic and all evil effects.

In addition, recite the following excessively:

ی ا ی ر "ن ی ر Yā Allāh! Yā Rahmān! Yā Rahīm! O Allāh! O Most Merciful! O Merciful unto all! [A‘māl Qurānī]

To avoid illicit glances

The seriousness of illicit glances lies in the fact that while one initially consoles oneself that one did not engage in other sins, it creates a fire leading to other sins. The friends of Allāh experience a strange discomfort when in the presence of people who engage in this sin. For example, ‘Uthmān once complained, “People commit zinā with their eyes and then come to my gathering!” [Zimmul Hawā Zimmuz Zinā of Ibn Abid Dunyā, Khutubāt Hakīmil Ummah]

Islām places great emphasis on the purity of both heart and eyes. Mawlānā Thānwī quoted the poem of al-‘Allāmah Iqbāl in this regard: Wisdom says that you have also been give Lā ilāha but what has been achieved? When the heart and eyes are not Muslim then there is nothing. To safeguard oneself from illicit gazing, recite the following thrice after Salāh and whenever tempted by illicit gazing:

Purify my heart of hypocrisy, my deeds of ostentation, my tongue of lies and my eye of treachery. Verily You know the treachery of eyes and what chests conceal. [at-Tabrānī, al-Hakīm at-Tirmizī, Tarīkh Baghdād, at-Tadwīn fī Akhbār Qazwīn of ar-Rāfi‘ī – narration of Umm Ma‘bad al-Khuzā‘īyah]

The following āyah is also beneficial in this regard:

"U س"*ا ا Tآ و ی2 ن 2نB ره[ وا و ان یU[د ا TUی آ "\-ن ,Uان . " *F و ه ا U ذآ

Du‘ā at ‘Arafāt

Hajj is the the fifth and final Pillar of Islām. It is Fard once in a lifetime upon a Muslim who can afford it. Rasūlullāh said, “Hajj is ‘Arafah.” [Ahmad, Hākim, Abū Dāwūd, an-Nasāī, ad-Dāramī, at-Tirmizī – narration of ‘Abdullāh bin al- ‘Abbās ]

The staying at ‘Arafāh is thus the greatest part of Hajj. He who has the good fortune to perform it should use every moment there in humbly supplicating before Allāh. Rasūlullāh has taught us to recite the following du‘ā at ‘Arafāh, on the Day of ‘Arafāh, after Zawāl, facing Qiblah. Recite each of the following 100 times:

 , Bشی V ( و ,UF .V ا ا U ا

, ا "BF و , ا >") و ه NF آ< شhء /)ی Lā ilāha illallāhu wahdahu lā sharīka lahu. Lahul mulku wa lahul hamdu wa huwa ‘alā kulli shayin qadīr There is no god but Allāh alone Who has no partner. To Him belongs all sovereignty and praise and He has power over all things Sūratul Ikhlās with basmalah.

 Uو (U"< NF6U ص< F NF ااه و ا GUFآ" ص (U"< لA NF6* -FA NFل ااه ان" BUU (\) و

Allāhumma salli ‘alā Muhammadiw wa ‘alā āli Muhammadin kamā sallayta ‘alā Ibrāhīm wa ‘alā āli Ibrāhīma innaka hamīdum majīd wa ‘alaynā ma ‘ahum O Allāh! Convey salutations upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad just as You conveyed salutations upon Ibrāhīm and the family of Ibrāhīm, verily You are most praiseworthy, most glorious, and convey upon us with them. Allah then asks the Malāikah, “O My Malāikah, what is the reward of that slave who has recited My purity, unity, greatness, majesty and praises and salutations upon My Rasūl? O My Malākikah, bear witness that I have forgiven him and accepted his intercession and if he should intercede for all the people at ‘Arafāt I would accept.” [at-Tirmizī, al-Bayhaqī, at-Tafsīr ad-Durar al-Manthūr, Ma ‘āriful Hadīth – narration of Jābir bin ‘Abdillāh ]

Since this is the most opportune moment of the entire year for the acceptance of du‘ā, reciting the entire 7 parts of Munājāt Maqbūl of Mawlānā Thānwī would be a means of good fortune for both years. If all cannot be recited then recite one part at least. If even that canot be done, then the bare minimum is to recite some of the du‘ās from it. The person who cannot, should supplicate in his mother tongue. The same should be done at the stay-over at Muzdalifah.

Visiting al-Madīnah al-Munawwarah

He who is fortunate enough to visit the city and Masjid of Rasūlullāh should observe due respect and recite abundant Salāt and Salām upon Rasūlullāh . The Salāt and Salām recited in Salāh is the most virtuous. [al-Manāsik of Mullā ‘Alī al-Qārī, Fadāilul Hajj – narration of Ibn ‘Umar ]

When facing the resting place of Rasūlullāh recite once:

انU ا و F[8, یYFن NF ا -h)U ی ای6Y ا TUی A-ا صYFا F, و +#F"سF"ا

(U"< ی BF صNF ا Sallallāhu ‘alayka yā Muhammad Salutations upon you O Muhammad.

An angel thereupon proclaims, “Allāh sends His mercy upon you,” and his needs are fulfilled. [al-Bayhaqī, Manāsik of Mullā ‘Alī, Fadāilul Hajj – narration of Ibn Abī Fudayk ]

The elders have written that the etiquette required in al-Madīnah is double that of Makkah. ‘Umar and al-Imām Mālik held that rewards are also double in al-Madīnah. There both goals are to be found (Allāh and His Rasūl ). The etiquettes of al-Masjid an-Nabawī is summarised in this poem: For fear of grave disrespect; Breathe softly for this is the court of the Nabī The poem is an exposition of āyah 2 of al-Hujarāt

bottom of my heart I beg you to convey my Salām at that lofty court. Remember me in your accepted du‘ā. May Allāh accept your visit and all our efforts. When facing the resting place of Rasūlullāh it is Sunnah to

face it and turn one’s back to the Qiblah and supplicate for one’s needs and that of one’s family and all Muslims and to intercede for them.

[Musnad Abī Hanīfah – narration of Ibn ‘Umar , Manāsik, Zubdatul Manāsik of Rashīd Ahmad Gangohī, al-Muhannad ‘alal Mufannad of Khalīl Ahmad Sahāranpūrī]

Al-‘Allāmah as-Sayyid Ahmad bin Zayn bin Ahmad ad-Dahlān al-Makkī ash-Shāfi‘ī was the Shāfi‘ī muftī of Makkah during the ‘Uthmānīyah rule. He died in Muharram 1304 Hijrī in al-Madīnah. He wrote in Mir-ātul Haramayn that the above method of du‘ā is according to all four A-immah. Those who have attained higher levels in treading the spiritual

path should recite all seven parts of Munājāt Maqbūl each day whilst in the Haramayn. These are places of great acceptance. They should do the same during special times e.g. Laylatul Barāah, the last ten nights of Ramadān, the nights of the two ‘Īds etc.

Having examined matters which harn one in world and Dīn, I had advise you to be especially cautious about the following:

1. Do not act on your lusts and anger. 2. Haste is an extremely bad thing. 3. Do not undertake a matter without consultation. Consult your

seniors. 4. Abstain from backbiting completely. 5. Whilst speaking much and mingling much with people is

permitted, it causes much harm especially when befriending all and sundry and worse, when confiding your secrets with them.

6. Do not eat to your full desire. 7. Do not engage in sexual intercourse if there is no extreme

need. 8. Do not take a loan without extreme necessity. 9. Do not even come near unnecessary spending. 10. Do not gather unnecessary belongings. 11. Do not be harsh. Be lenient and forebearing. 12. Avoid ostentation of deeds and imposed formality as much

as possible. This includes word, deed and food and clothing. 13. A leader should neither be aloof from his followers not freely

socialise with them. He should as far as possible not seek anything from them, especially regarding worldy benefit.

14. Keep your transactions clean. This is more important than even piety.

15. Exercise extreme caution when narrating. Great pious and intelligent people avoid this, whether passing on a narration or merely understanding it themselves.

16. Do not use medicine without extreme necessity and the guidance of an expert, well-wishing advisor.

17. Save the tongue from every sin and unnecessary talk. 18. Remain firm on the truth while avoid insisting on your

opinion. 19. Do not increase in your associations with people. 20. Do not interfere in the worldy affairs of others. 21. As far as possible do not desire things of this world. Let not a

moment pass without concern for the Ākhirah. 22. Always remain in such a condition that when death comes

you will not fall in the purview of the āyah, “If only you give me a respite to a near time I shall definitely afirm and be of the pious.” Always consider that each breath may be your last. Always seek repentance for the day’s sins before night arrives and for the night’s before day. As far as possible fulfil the rights of people.

23. Death with Īmān isn indeed the best of bounties. Maintain correct beliefs. Constantly ask for this bounty with all humility

especially after the five Salāh. Thank Allāh for the gift of Īmān bearing the following āyah in mind, “If you are thankful I shall definitely increase for you.” This is amongst the greatest means of attaining death with Īmān.
