It has been another year of Covid related disruption to the industry and the world at large. As we all adapt to new ways of living and working (‘hybrid’ is now in vogue across the

board), our industry continues to rollout products and services that keep people connected and entertained. There is a wealth of innovation coming out, which you can see reflected in this year’s shortlist. In terms of new categories this year is Remote Production, which has attracted strong entries from the start, no doubt spurred on by everything that is

happening. We have also welcomed Sustainability and Broadband Customer Experience into the fold, two other critical issues of our time that have been magnified even further by the pandemic.

Stay tuned for 2022 not just for new categories, but also a year that marks the 20th anniversary of the CSI Awards! We really hope we will be able to celebrate that in person with all of you in Amsterdam next September. In the meantime, you can watch this year’s ceremony online on Thursday 23rd September. It uses AI video analysis to give new and unique controls to users optimised for their devices. It is commercially available today and is being deployed by operators in the US where it is already integrated with the Minerva 10 platform.

To overcome this incredibly wasteful approach, which results in millions of perfectly usable STBs being disposed of, Amino worked with Vodafone Iceland to develop a solution. Amino leverages its AminoOS software to ‘upcycle’ devices, so they remain cutting-edge as software and services evolve. Telekom Slovenije, d.dNEO connectivity solutionTelekom Slovenije provides the most modern FTTH network in Slovenia and is the country’s largest operator. For households that had poor broadband, Covid-period working and learning from home was a struggle or nearly impossible. Telekom have improved the availability and better fixed internet speeds and coverage with a hybrid modem solution and drastically improved home Wi-Fi networks with a Wi-Fi mesh solution under the brand name of Turbo Wi-Fi. The two additional service options do not require any home modifications. To users who connect to the internet through slower ADSL or VDSL connection, with download speeds up to 10 Mbit/s, the Hybrid modem increases internet speeds up to 50/10 Mbit/s. This is done by connecting simultaneously to mobile (LTE/4G) and to fixed network. Turbo Wi-Fi, meanwhile, enables seamless connection of many Wi-Fi access points in one network, which greatly improves Wi-Fi coverage and speed in every corner of customer’s house or apartment. Currently, there are more than 12,500 active Wi-Fi access points on NEO and 7,189 households with the Turbo Wi-Fi service.
