AuxComm
AuxComm is a FEMA program of Specially trained
Amateur Radio Operators Serving in
Auxiliary Communication as
Auxiliary Communicators during a
FEMA Declared Event/Emergency
What is AuxComm
AuxComm Prerequisites
1. A valid Amateur Radio Operators License
2. Successful completion of ICS online courses
IS-100.c, IS-200.b, IS-700.b and IS-800.c
3. successful completion of the
AuxComm course
Upon successful completion of the AuxComm
course you will be certified as an
AuxComm Communicator
The AuxComm class is a really enjoyable, informative and certified
20 hour class (generally two 10 hour days)
You will learn about some of the ICS forms
used by several agencies
and
you will learn about ICS forms used in
Emergency Communications
You would be better prepared
to serve the public
The rules and regulations in this part are designed to provide an amateur
radio service having a fundamental purpose as expressed in the following
principles:
(a) Recognition and enhancement of the value of the amateur service to the
public as a voluntary noncommercial communication service, particularly with
respect to providing emergency communications.

of the
Amateur Radio Service
You would most likely be under some kind of
command structure.
When directed by a Emergency Management
agency
issuing the deployment callout.
Your AUXCOMM training would allow
you to
better interface with served agencies
As a specially trained Ham Radio Operator serving
as an AuxComm Auxiliary Communicator,
You can be asked to perform many different tasks
associated with Emergency Communications
• In a FEMA Emergency Communications Unit
• In an Emergency Management Agency Communications
Unit
• In an Emergency Operations Center
• In many other types of public service events
As an AuxComm you’ll NEVER be asked to perform
tasks not related to communications
Requirements to complete the course (refer to handouts for full details)
• Go to the OEMComm Web site for links to the ICS online courses.
• Register for a FEMA SID (if you don’t already have one).
• Successfully complete the required online courses; IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800
• Save the certificates (PDF format). They will be needed to submit to AZ DEMA as proof of
completion.
• Visit dematraining.az.gov and create your DEMA account (if you don’t already have one).
• After completing registration and your password, revisit dematraining.az.gov and log in.
• Find the course C992.001 and register for the course

select ICS courses
select the desired course (If you do not have a FEMA SID you will be
required to register for one)
it will be required to receive credit for the exam
Upon successful completion of each
individual ICS course you will receive
an email containing a link to the
course certificate in PDF format
Save this certificate.
It will need to be submitted to DEMA
for the AUXCOMM course.
Print a copy for your records
Following completion of the ICS courses
establish a DEMA account
Department of Emergency and Military Affairs
(the States version of FEMA)
