EVENT OVERVIEWThe event is owned by Tennis Seniors Australia who allocate it annually on a rotational basis to the member states (NSW, Vic, Tas, SA, WA, ACT and Qld) In 2018 it is once again Queensland’s turn to host (the previous occasion was 2010) and the event will be held on the Gold Coast from 7th to 19th January inclusive. Tennis Seniors Queensland is required to financially underwrite and conduct the event. The event “headquarters” will be Gold Coast Seniors Tennis Club, 24 Pizzey Drive, Mermaid Waters, Gold Coast with adjoining facilities at Miami Grass Tennis Club (jointly referred to as Pizzey Park). These two clubs have a total of 28 excellent synthetic grass courts following a recent expansion of the facility. However numerous other facilities will be required for the Teams Carnival in the first week – up to 70 courts could be required. Agreements on use and court hire costs have been reached with the above two clubs, as well as KVD Sports, Tweed Heads, Surfers Fairways, Club Banora and Burleigh Heads. The first week of the Event is the Teams Carnival, which is described as a more social however still very competitive event, where men and women, in teams of five to six players, compete in age groups (35+,40+,up to 80+) against teams from all States of Australia, as well as from New Zealand, Japan, Korea, Ireland, Canada, and possibly Europe and USA in 2018. The expected number of teams for this event is 120+, with over 700 players. The second week of competition will be centered on the individual events – the Australian Individual Championships - which are for the more serious competition players who will compete in this International Tennis Federation sanctioned “Grade A” Championships for men and women in age groups from 35+ to 85+. The projected number of individual participants for this event is 600+. Singles, doubles and mixed doubles knockout events will be played.

SUMMARY OF SPONSORSHIP BENEFITS• A full summary of the benefits available to various levels of sponsorship is tabled further in this proposal.• Sponsorship support may be in the form of cash or product/services/benefits.• Essentially, sponsors have the opportunity to promote their services to a very large tennis playing and spectator audience. It

is anticipated that over the two week period, some 2000 players and spectators will attend the event. Very largely, they are Australians from all States and Territories, although there will also be a significant number of international visitors. They will all be over the age of 35, with the majority in the 50 – 75 demographic. Many are retired with reasonable to large spending power.

• Most of the tennis activity will be at the Pizzey Park 28 court facility – this venue will be used exclusively in week 2 for the Individual Championships.

• All participants will receive a player bag on registration in which sponsors may have the opportunity to include promotional product/giveaways or printed material. The bag will include a player booklet with advertising opportunities.

• There will be an Opening Ceremony on Sunday 7th January and a Presentation Dinner/Dance on Friday 12th. Either or both of these events can be sponsored.

• There is a dedicated website for this event – www.tennisseniors.org.au/qld/q18. This will include all relevant information about the event, as well as regular updates as our plans are finalised. Historically, the event website receives a significant number of visits.

• In terms of participation this will be by far the largest tennis tournament conducted in Queensland in 2018.

MARKETING OF THE EVENT• With the Australian Individual Championships being an International Tennis Federation “Grade A” tournament (a ranking

only 2 below the World Titles) this event is marketed throughout the world via the ITF London website and Tennis Seniors Australia, and State Seniors Divisions websites and newsletters.

• Marketing commenced with flyers to all participants at the 2017 Australian Seniors event in Adelaide in January. It will also feature on Tennis Seniors Australia and Tennis Seniors Queensland websites and Facebook pages.

• Gold Coast Tourism and Gold Coast City Council will also assist with marketing of this event.
