General information

You can find general information about this instruction manualhere.¡ Read this instruction manual carefully. Only this will ensure you

use the appliance safely and efficiently.¡ Follow the safety instructions and warnings.¡ Keep the instruction manual and the product information safe

for future reference or for the next owner.¡ Check the appliance after unpacking it. Do not connect the ap-

pliance if it has been damaged in transit.

Intended use

Read the information on intended use to ensure that you use theappliance correctly and safely.Only use this appliance:¡ For cleaning household tableware.¡ In private households and in enclosed spaces in a domestic en-

vironment.¡ Up to an altitude of max. 4000 m above sea level.

Restriction on user group

Avoid risks to children and vulnerable persons.This appliance may be used by children aged 8 or over and bypeople who have reduced physical, sensory or mental abilities orinadequate experience and/or knowledge, provided that they aresupervised or have been instructed on how to use the appliancesafely and have understood the resulting dangers.Children must not play with the appliance.Cleaning and user maintenance must not be performed by chil-dren unless they are being supervised.

Safe installation

Follow these safety instructions when installing the appliance.

WARNING ‒ Risk of injury!Improper installation may cause injury.▶ When installing and connecting the appliance, follow the in-

structions in the manual and installation instructions.

WARNING ‒ Risk of electric shock!¡ Improper installation is dangerous.▶ Connect and operate the appliance only in accordance with

the specifications on the rating plate.▶ Connect the appliance to a power supply with alternating

current only via a properly installed socket with earthing.▶ The protective conductor system of the domestic electrical

installation must be properly installed.▶ Never equip the appliance with an external switching

device, e.g. a timer or remote control.▶ When the appliance is installed, the mains plug of the

power cord must be freely accessible. If free access is notpossible, an all-pole isolating switch must be installed in thepermanent electrical installation according to the installationregulations.▶ When installing the appliance, check that the power cable is

not trapped or damaged.¡ Cutting through the supply hose or immersing the Aqua-Stop

valve in water is dangerous.▶ Never immerse the plastic housing in water. The plastic

housing on the supply hose contains an electric valve.▶ Never cut through the supply hose. The supply hose con-

tains electric power cables.

WARNING ‒ Risk of fire!It is dangerous to use an extended power cord and non-ap-proved adapters.▶ Do not use extension cables or multiple socket strips.▶ If the power cord is too short, contact Customer Service.▶ Only use adapters approved by the manufacturer.

WARNING ‒ Risk of injury!Hinges move when opening and closing the appliance doorand can cause injury.▶ If built-under or integrable appliances are not in a cavity so

that one side is accessible, the hinge area must be coveredat the side. Covers are available from Customer Service orspecialist outlets.

WARNING ‒ Risk of tipping!Improper installation may cause the appliance to tip up.▶ Only install built-under or integrable appliances under a

continuous worktop that is securely connected to adjacentcabinets.

¡ Highly caustic alkaline or highly acidic cleaning agents in con-junction with aluminium parts in the interior of the appliancemay cause explosions.▶ Never use highly caustic alkaline or highly acidic cleaning

agents, in particular commercial or industrial products, inconjunction with aluminium parts (e.g. grease filters of ex-tractor hoods or aluminium pans), e.g. for the Machine Careprogramme.

WARNING ‒ Risk of injury!¡ Leaving the appliance door open may result in injury.▶ Only open the appliance door to load or unload tableware

in order to prevent accidents, e.g. through tripping.▶ Do not sit or stand on the appliance door when open.

¡ Knives and utensils with sharp points can cause injuries.▶ Arrange knives and utensils with sharp points in the cutlery

basket with the points downwards, on the knife shelf or inthe cutlery drawer.

WARNING ‒ Risk of scalding!If you open the appliance door while the programme is run-ning, hot water may splash out of the appliance.▶ Open the appliance door carefully if the programme is still

running.

WARNING ‒ Risk of electric shock!¡ An ingress of moisture can cause an electric shock.▶ Only use the appliance in enclosed spaces.▶ Never expose the appliance to intense heat or humidity.▶ Do not use steam- or high-pressure cleaners to clean the

Damaged appliance

Follow the safety instructions if the appliance is damaged.

ous.▶ Never operate a damaged appliance.▶ Never operate an appliance with a cracked or fractured sur-

face.▶ Never pull on the power cord to unplug the appliance. Al-

ways unplug the appliance at the mains.▶ If the appliance or the power cord is damaged, immediately

cut through the cord and damage the lock on the appliancedoor beyond repair so that the appliance door will no longerclose.

WARNING ‒ Risk of crushing!With higher-level appliances, children can become crushedbetween the appliance door and cabinet doors underneath.▶ Keep an eye on children when opening and closing the ap-

pliance door.

WARNING ‒ Risk of chemical burns!Rinse aid and detergent may cause chemical burns to themouth, throat and eyes.▶ Keep children away from detergent and rinse aid products.▶ Keep children away from the appliance when open. The wa-

ter in the interior of the dishwasher is not drinking water. Itmay contain residues of detergents and rinse aid.

Safe installationFollow the instructions when installingthe appliance.

ATTENTION!¡ Improper installation of the appli-

ance may cause damage.▶ If the dishwasher is installed

above or below other domesticappliances, follow the informa-tion on installation in combina-tion with a dishwasher in the in-stallation instructions for the in-dividual appliances.

▶ If there is no information or if theinstallation instructions do not in-clude the relevant information,contact the manufacturer ofthese appliances to check thatthe dishwasher can be installedabove or below these appli-ances.

▶ If no information is availablefrom the manufacturer, the dish-washer should not be installedabove or below such appli-ances.

▶ To ensure the safe operation ofall domestic appliances, con-tinue following the installation in-structions for the dishwasher.

▶ Do not install the dishwasher un-der a hob.

▶ Do not install the dishwashernear heat sources, e.g. radiat-ors, heat storage tanks, ovensor other appliances that gener-ate heat.

¡ Modified or damaged water hosesmay result in material damage anddamage to the appliance.▶ Never kink, crush, modify or cut

through water hoses.

▶ Only use the water hoses sup-plied with the appliance or genu-ine spare hoses.

▶ Never re-use water hoses thathave been used before.

¡ If the water pressure is too high ortoo low, this may impair function-ing of the appliance.▶ Make sure that the water pres-

sure in the water supply systemis min. 50 kPa (0,5 bar) andmax. 1000 kPa (10 bar).

▶ If the water pressure exceedsthe maximum value specified, apressure-reducing valve must beinstalled between the drinkingwater connection and the hoseset of the appliance.

ATTENTION!¡ Escaping water vapour can dam-

age fitted units.▶ When the programme ends,

leave the appliance to cooldown for a while before openingthe door.

¡ Unsuitable cleaning agents maydamage the appliance.▶ Do not use a steam cleaner.▶ So as not to scratch the finish

on the appliance, do not usesponges with a rough surface orabrasive cleaning agents.

▶ To prevent corrosion, do not usesponge cloths on dishwasherswith a stainless steel front orrinse such cloths thoroughlyseveral times before using themfor the first time.

Saving energyIf you follow these instructions, yourappliance will use less electricity andless water.

Use the Eco Wash programme.The Eco Wash programme is en-ergy-efficient and environmentallyfriendly. → "Programmes", Page 18

AquaSensorThe AquaSensor is an optical meas-uring device (light barrier) whichmeasures the turbidity of the rinsingwater. You can save water with theAquaSensor.Use of the AquaSensor depends onthe programme. If the soiling level ishigh, the rinsing water is drained offand replaced with fresh water. If thesoiling level is lower, the rinsing wa-ter is used in the next wash cycle, soreducing water consumption by 3-6litres. In the automatic programmesthe temperature and run time are ad-ditionally adjusted to the level of soil-ing.

Installing and connecting theapplianceYou can position your built-under orintegrable appliance in a fitted kit-chen between wooden and plasticwalls. If you subsequently install yourdishwasher as a free-standing appli-ance, you must stop it from tippingover, e.g. by screwing it to the wall orinstalling it under a continuous work-top that is securely connected to ad-jacent cabinets.1. 2. Connect the wastewater hose tothe outlet connection of the siphonusing the enclosed parts.

3. When doing so, check that thewastewater hose is not kinked,crushed or twisted.

4. Also check that there is no coverin the drainage system preventingthe wastewater from being dis-charged.

Drinking water connectionConnect your appliance to a drinkingwater connection.

You can find an overview of the pro-grammes that can be selected here.Different programmes, which can befound on the control panel of yourappliance, are available dependingon the appliance configuration.The running time may vary depend-ing on the programme selected. Therunning time depends on the watertemperature, the quantity of table-ware, the level of soiling and the "Ad-

ditional function" → Page 20 selec-ted. The running time will change ifthe rinse aid system is switched offor rinse aid needs to be added.The programme data is based on val-ues measured in the laboratory ac-cording to AS/NZS 2007. Suitable detergentsOnly use detergents that are suitablefor dishwashers. Both separate andcombined detergents are suitable.For optimum washing and drying res-ults, use separate detergent togetherwith "Rinse aid" → Page 25.Modern, powerful detergents mainlyuse a low-alkaline formulation withenzymes. Enzymes break down

starch and remove protein. Oxygen-based bleaching agents are generallyused to remove coloured stains, e.g.tea or ketchup.Note: Follow the manufacturer's in-structions for each detergent.

Detergent DescriptionTabs Tabs are suitable for

Insert the tablets in a hori-zontal position.If you are using powder or liquiddetergent, follow the manufac-turer's instructions and quantitiesfor dosage in the detergent dis-penser.20 ml – 25 ml detergent is suffi-cient for normal soiling. If table-ware is only lightly soiled, slightlyless than the amount of detergentspecified is usually sufficient.

3. Close the lid of the detergent dis-penser.

2. Observe the following when arran-ging tableware:– Put heavily soiled tableware in

the bottom basket, e.g. pans.The more powerful the spray jet,the better the dishwashing resultwill be.

– To prevent damage to table-ware, arrange it so it is stableand cannot tip over.

– To prevent injury, arrange cut-lery with the points and sharpedges downwards.

– Position containers with theopenings facing down so no wa-ter can collect in them.

– Do not block the spray arms -make sure that they can turnfreely.

– Do not place small parts in thetablet collecting tray and do notblock it with tableware so as notto obstruct the lid of the deter-gent dispenser.

Removing tableware
