DROPPING OUT
FIRST AID AND EMERGENCIES
The yellow safety marker
MEDICAL SERVICES DURING THE RACERunners experiencing medical problems during the race are urged to consult the nearest firstaid post. These are staffed by volunteer first aiders and medical professionals. Firstaid posts are spaced at approx. 5km intervals on the first relatively level section to Lauterbrunnen. On the mountain section from Lauterbrunnen to the finish, they are spaced at roughly 2km intervals. A medical monitoring service will be in operation at the finish at the Kleine Scheidegg.
EMERGENCIES DURING THE RACEIn the event of an emergency that makes proceeding to the next firstaid post impossible, first call the Jungfrau Marathon internal medi-cal emergency centre
Emergency phone number +41 (0) 33 828 76 65
Volunteers along the course equipped with walkietalkies and firstaid post staff can also raise the alarm in an emergency. If there is no connection, call the Swiss emergency telephone No. 144. To allow precise location in an emergency, yellow safety markers giving exact location details and precise coordinates will be positioned at 250 – 500 m intervals (see above image) along the course. The organizer asks all runners, spectators and volunteers to note these location aids in the event of an emergency.
Any runner dropping out of the race must notify the next first-aid post. The costs for searching for a runner who has not provided notification of dropping out will be charged to the person involved.
Personal effects and valuables must be picked up at the Kleine Scheidegg. (Race number = train ticket)
Doctors on duty along the course are authorized to retire a competitor from the race on me-dical grounds. The event organizer accepts no
liability whatsoever if a competitor continues the race against a doctor’s orders.
Any runner continuing the race behind the of-ficial sweeper’s bike and after the maximum time limit allowed does so at his or her own risk and without any entitlement whatsoever to services provided by the JungfrauMarathon. This behavior puts the runner outside the bounds in which the organizer is responsible and liable for the proper conduct of the event and care of athletes.
