Most Worshipful Grand Master Victor J. Stone Presented a Slide Showof His Trip to Great Britain for the 300th Anniversary of Freemasonry

Most Worshipful Bro. George De-blon with help from WorshipfulBrother Bruce Flewelling will bemaking a presentation about thehistory of Rural Lodge and PierceHall. Just for the information ofthe Brethren Rural Lodge gave thebuilding to the Community Cen-ter, which is now Pierce HallCommunity Center, in 2004, andthere have been many construc-tion projects since then with ma-jor improvements in the building. There might be some construc-tion going on when we meet therein Sept. but we will work aroundit. Rural Lodge # 29 is located at,Pierce Hall Community Center,38 South Main St., Rochester, VT05767 The members of RuralLodge look forward to showingoff the building

Our annual meeting in April wasa busy one as our agenda includ-ed both the regular and annualmeeting that included the requi-site reports and elections. Mostall our present officers were re-elected for the coming year. However, we were pleased toadd two new officers to ourranks. Past Master and veteranLodge of Research memberSteve Engel agreed to take Bro.Don Duquette’s place as LodgeTreasurer. We also had the plea-sure of welcoming brand newmember Daniel Nye, Secretary

of Columbus #11 of Alburgh toserve as Secretary.

After the initial opening of thelodge Most Worshipful Bro. Vic-tor Stone, with the help of MWBros. Tom Johnston, Earl Wash-burn and Deputy Grand Master

Stuart Corsowas received indue form. Afterthe electionsthe lodge offi-cers were hon-ored to beinstalled byMW Bro. Vic-tor Stone asInstalling Mas-ter and MWBro. EarlWashburn asInstalling Mar-shall.

Following the business agendaMost Worshipful Bro. VictorStone presented the lodge with aslide show about his trip to Eng-land, which was quite fascinat-ing.

Bro. Victor and his wife wereable to combined their trip toEngland with other Masons andtheir wives. They first took a tourof Scotland visiting two or threelodges. They also visited Rosslyn

Chapel, but we will leave it tohim to share the secrets he dis-covered there. Before the actualcelebration they continued tovisit lodges in the rest of GreatBritain and along the way Bro.Victor would arrange to have hisphoto taken in the different Wor-shipful Masters chairs in theEast. They tended to vary fromthose that were plain but wellappointed to those that were veryornate.

During the celebration Bro. Vic-tor, as did the other Grand Mas-ters had a chance to have a shortaudience with the Most Wor-shipful Grand Master of theUnited Grand Lodge of England, the Duke of Kent.

Another thing that was interest-ing was that MW Victor was al-ways the 18th Grand Master to bepresented or sat at the differentfunctions. As it turns out it wasbecause the Grand Lodge ofVermont was the 18th GrandLodge to have been foundedsince the establishment of theGrand Lodge of England. Addi-tionally, he discovered in histravels that there were pictures ofGeorge Washington in a numberof the lodges they visited. It ap-pears that the Grand Lodge ofEngland holds Worshipful Bro.George Washington in high es-teem, as well as all there Breth-ren in the United States.
