Pastor’s Corner

My Dear Parishioners, Many of you are aware of and have been praying for our Director of Music, Rick West during his recent illness and subsequent recovery over the past few weeks. During his absence, several of our parish musicians have offered to provide music for our weekend Masses and for this I am truly grateful. However, looking ahead to the month of August, it seems that many of our volunteers will not be available due to previous plans, vacations, etc. Because of this, we will not have organists & cantors available for our weekend Masses during the month of August. We will have music during the Assumption Triduum Evenings of Prayer, as well as the Festival Mass at 1:30PM. I thank you for making this accommodation during this time and I would ask you to please keep Rick in your thoughts & prayers as he continues to recover.

Next Sunday, August 11th, we will celebrate our Annual Italian Festival with a Solemn Mass at 1:30 PM with lots of food & festivities immediately following. As a reminder, leading up to this big day, we will prepare for it by celebrating our Triduum of Prayer on August 7th, 8th & 9th. Fr. Christopher Moriconi will be our guest homilist for these three days of Evening Prayer & Adoration before the Blessed Sacrament. Afterwards, light refreshments & entertainment will be offered for all in our piazza. I invite you again to any or all of these days. I encourage you to consider bringing a friend to share in the festivities!

We are still continuing our fundraising efforts for our Annual Italian Festival. Our fund-raising goal this year (as last year) is set at $5,000. As of this writing (7/29/2019), we have now raised $ 4,042 which is 80.84% of our goal – we are almost there! If you haven’t made a donation as of yet, we invite you to do so. It would be wonderful to hit our goal this year and even better if we could surpass it.

Thanks once more for all you do. We are truly blessed to have such a warm, welcoming community here at OLA and blessed to have such committed parishioners to keep our parish vibrant and strong. Until next week, may God bless you and your families!

Love and prayers, Fr. Carey
