TWENTY-SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Dear Friends,
Anointing of the Sick “Are there people sick among you? Let them send for the priests of the Church, and let the priests pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord. The prayer of faith will save the sick persons, and the Lord will raise them up. If they have committed any sins, their sins will be forgiven them.” (James 5:14-15) This Sacrament, formerly called “Extreme Unction” or “Last Rites,” is administered on an individual basis as necessary. It is properly administered to one who is in mortal peril, is seriously ill, or in lesser cases, is dealing with a chronic health condition. It can also be administered in advance of surgery. The sacrament of anointing should not be administered more than once for the same illness, unless the person (partially) recovered and fell ill again, or if the illness has become significantly worse.
If anointing is needed for you, or your family member or a friend of yours, please call the parish office. IF IT IS AN EMERGENCY AFTER THE OFFICE IS CLOSED, then please follow the directions on the answering machine for the emergency contact.
Visiting the Homebound Holy Communion is carried to homebound parishioners by Eucharistic Ministers of Holy Communion. I am available for you if you would also like to receive the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick and/or the Sacrament of Confession/Reconciliation or if you would like to just to talk to me .
Please call the parish office to make arrangements for these visits. I am pleased to visit the homebound…please do not hesitate to call us. With Love and Prayers, Fr. David

Readings for September 5, 2021 23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time
Isaiah 35:4-7a - The ears of those who are deaf will be cleared; and the tongue of those who are mute will sing. Psalm 146 - “Praise the Lord, my soul!” James 2:1-5 - Did not God choose the poor to be heirs of the kingdom? Mark 7:31-37 - He makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.
Do we take God’s word to heart and act upon it? Moses about to reveal the commandments-calls on the people to observe God’s word carefully and faithfully. In his letter James asks us to welcome God’s word and put it into action. In the Gospel, Jesus warns the scribes and Pharisees that they confuse human tradition with God’s commands. Listening to God’s word, let us consider how it guides our actions.
