I appeal to you therefore, brothers and sisters, by the

mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living

sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your

spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but

be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that

you may discern what is the will of God—what is good

and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:1-2

How do you make decisions? Some decisions are easier than

others: paper or plastic, coffee or tea. But I’m talking about the big

decisions. When do you say to your aging mother that you feel it’s

time she stops driving? Should you baptize your infant son? When do

you know it is time to sell the family home and downsize or speak

your mind even though it may not be popular?

In Romans, Paul encourages Christians to present their bodies,

their lives to God as living sacrifices. In other words, to worship God

by taking to God all of our life’s concerns. To seek God’s will for the

decisions that confront us rather than making decisions based on the

mores and norms of this world or on our own preferences.

Placing a decision before God involves prayer, caring conversations

with trusted Christian friends and mentors who love us and an

openness to receive their counsel. It involves patience. Yet as we seek

God’s will and how best to sacrificially love God and neighbor, we

trust that through Jesus Christ and by the power of the Holy Spirit

the decisions we make will be the right ones. We just won’t know they

are the right ones at the time we make them!

And so it is with our new fall worship times! Our Worship and

Music Ministry team has

listened this past year to

our faith community’s

views on both the time and

style of worship. They’ve

prayed and placed this

issue before God and then

presented their recommendation to the Congregational Council. After

more discussion and reflection by Council, the worship times shown

above were chosen during the July meeting. We trust God is guiding

us!

Initially, the 45 minute long New Traditions Service will take

place monthly but I pray it will grow into a weekly service. Its focus

us." Watch for our next series on how Lutherans understand baptism coming in September. All

are welcome for coffee and conversation as your schedules allow. For additional information,

contact Tammie at [email protected] or 654-3256.

Sunday's Com'n

Each Wednesday morning at 8:30am, gather with Pastor Tom in the Gathering Space to

reflect on the scripture reading for the coming Sunday. No experience necessary. We read the

text and share how it makes us feel and the thoughts and questions it generates. It's all good!

Come and See...

All are invited to a refreshing Bible Study fellowship this summer.

Time: Tuesdays from 9:00-11:00am

Location: The Madison’s at 8204 65th Ave, Kenosha

We are welcoming all students of various Bible study experience. We will read and discuss

each week how God's truth impacts, encourages and strengthens our lives. Summer is a busy

time for everyone, so the study will be flexible for participants to attend when their schedules

allow. Please RSVP to Mary Beth Madison if you wish to be a part of this fellowship. Phone:

is to share the good news of Jesus Christ to those new to

the faith as well as those who prefer contemporary music

in a more relaxed worship setting (the Great Hall). I ask

that you pray for God’s blessing and presence in all our

worship experiences.

As I write this, God has answered prayers for rain and

cooling breezes after several weeks of heat. God does hear

our prayers and is faithful! As you make decisions, both

large and small, may your faith in Jesus Christ be

strengthened and you experience life more abundantly.

Blessings All!

Financial Stewardship

Dear Members of Trinity,

June was like May, good

and bad with the giving.

Good: the Building

Fund (mortgage) was over.

Not so good: Unified

Giving was under our

expenses.

Please make sure to

keep up with your Unified

Giving.

Care for Creation

It’s time for a revival!

Five years ago our church council adopted a Care for Creation covenant accepting

congregational responsibility to be stewards of the earth. Now with the formation and

support of Kenosha Green Congregations, Trinity has the opportunity to expand our efforts within

our congregation and to reach out beyond our four walls to spread Earth-care into our community

and the world at large.

So let’s celebrate what we’ve accomplished through our ministries’ action plans, let’s capture the

joy of creation and grow our commitment to care for the earth that supports all God’s people.

Please join us for a recommitment meeting of Trinity’s Care for Creation team.

WHEN: Monday, August 13, 2012

TIME: 6:30 – 7:30 pm

WHERE: Gathering Space

Thank you to all of the Trinity members who

donated goods and their time toward the CUSH

rummage sale! We had many people involved in

pricing, sorting, donating, and working the sale.

We were able to raise $539.00 for CUSH!

Thank you to all of the volunteers who worked

and donated snack foods for the children at the

Urban Outreach Program’s summer day

program. Trinity members provided snacks for a

week in July.

The Social ministry and CUSH committee will

meet again in September. We had been meeting

on the second Sunday of each month. That will

be Rally day, so we will move the

meeting to September 16th.

CUSH has several task forces

working behind the scenes to advocate for the

poor and disenfranchised. CUSH continues to

advocate for transportation, immigrant rights

and is also involved in the state-wide campaign

to decrease the prison population and use the

money for treatment of non-violent offenders.

CUSH has also received grant funding to

facilitate diversity conversations in Kenosha.

CUSH has a new website

www.cushkenosha.org. Check it out!
