und stieg in der ersten Woche auf Platz 4 der deutschen Albumcharts ein.

Im November 2016 veröffentlichte Metrickz die EP RAW mit 5 Tracks und RAF Camora als Feature-Gast. Im Dezember desselben Jahres erschien die EP

Nova, welche ebenfalls 5 Tracks beinhaltet. Nun erscheint mit Xenon das nächste Full-Length-Album.

Travelling with the band between between August 15th and 20th, he enjoyed good access, despite the hectic

circumstances, and upon his return to the UK prepared The Beatles Abroad. Originally transmitted on Monday,

August 30th – a bank holiday – the fascinating documentary is presented here together with background notes,

Liverpool, where they performed a special edition of Juke Box Jury in front of 2500 hysterical members

of their fan club, then performed in front of them for a subsequent TV concert broadcast entitled It’s

The Beatles, prompting Brian Epstein to joke that, for a night, BBC stood for ‘Beatles Broadcasting

Corporation’. The visuals for the former are sadly lost, but the audio of both programmes is presented

here, together with background notes and images.

„Eingerahmt von zwei wunderbaren Instrumentalstücken, kommt die vierte, von einer Schar Epic-Doomer heiß

erwartete ARGUS-Platte daher. Vier Jahre hat man sich Zeit gelassen, und die haben sich definitiv gelohnt, denn

man hat ein wenig an den musikalischen Stellschrauben gedreht. Auf den (zusätzlich zum erwähnten Intro und

Outro) sieben neuen Stücken gibt es fortan mehr straighten Epic Metal und etwas weniger Doom zu hören – der

klassische ARGUS-Sound ist dennoch jederzeit identifizierbar. Der Opener ´Devils Of Our Time´ kommt beinahe

wütend daher, das schleppende Ás A Thousand Thieves´ begeistert sofort mit gekonnten Twinleads und herrlich

galoppierenden Maiden-Gitarren, über denen sich die mächtige Stimme von Kraftprotz Butch Balich erhebt. ´216´

beginnt anschließend als klassischer, melodischer Doom-Song, der sich dann aber wieder in ein fast power-

Mehr als 30 Jahre nach ihrer Geburt legen Epitaph aus Verona ihr brandneues Studioalbum »Claws« auf High Roller Records vor. In den Achtzigern und Neunzigern formierten sich in Italien so tiefschwarze Unheilsbringer wie Death SS, Paul Chain, Bulldozer, Sacrilege, Zess oder Abysmal Grief. Epitaph waren gleichfalls ein integrer Bestandteil dieser einzigartigen Szene – mit engen Verzweigungen zu zwei weiteren Kult-Acts: Black Hole und Sacrilege. 2014 wagten Epitaph mit »Crawling Out Of The Crypt« einen Neuanfang. Das Album bestand indes ausschließlich aus alten Kompositionen. Bei »Claws« hingegen sieht die Situation anders aus, wie Original-Drummer Mauro Tollini erläutert: “Bei »Claws« handelt es sich um das erste Album, auf dem die aktuelle Besetzung der Band nicht nur ausführendes Organ ist, sondern auch den Entstehungsprozess gelenkt hat. Deswegen ist es in allen Belangen ein echtes Gemeinschaftswerk. Ein genuines Epitaph-Album. Vielleicht sogar ein wenig anspruchsvoller und weniger zugänglich als alles, was wir in der Vergangenheit erschaffen haben. Messerscharfe Riffs, prägnante Melodien und ein kleines bisschen Horrorshow sind allerdings nach wie vor vorhanden.” Ein Stück wie “Waco The King” erinnert unweigerlich an die Riff-Architektur eines Tony Iommi. Mauro Tollini fühlt sich geehrt: “Wir sind in den Achtzigern mit Black Sabbath aufgewachsen. Diese Phase ihrer Karriere wurde lange Zeit unterschätzt und die Leute lernen erst heute, damit umzugehen. Wir liebten diese Ära von Sabbath immer, genauso wie die Klassiker aus den Siebzigern. In der Tat sind Epitaph, was das Riffing angeht, vom Spätwerk Black Sabbaths massiv beeinflusst worden. Das wird sich wohl auch niemals ändern.” Im Anschluss an die Veröffentlichung von »Claws« werden Epitaph zusammen mit den Labelkollegen Procession auf große Europatour gehen. Auf ihrem dritten Album nach "King Of Torture" (2011) und "Battery" (2015 / Steamhammer) schieben FATEFUL

FINALITY mit "Mankind" ihre eigene Thrash Metal-Interpretation noch einmal deutlich nach vorne.

Gnadenlos knallen die zwölf Songs plus Intro und Bonus-Track ("Plaque In The Rain") aus den Lautsprechern,

wobei die Band sich nicht mit überlangen, komplexen Arrangements aufhält, sondern jeden Song so auf den

Punkt bringt, dass kaum Luft zum Atmen bleibt.

Dennoch bleibt genug Raum für treibende Soli und Tempo-Wechsel, die den Songs die notwendige

Eigendynamik verleihen. Dabei steht der Gesang dem amtlichen Gesamtsound in keiner Weise nach,

sondern scheint das musikalische Fundament umso mehr anzutreiben.

Zum Ende überrascht die Band zudem mit dem wundervollen Bonus-Track "Plaque In The Rain", welcher sich

als emotionale wie mitreissende Ballade entpuppt und mit all seinem Kontrast zum Rest der Songs den

perfekten Abschluss einer packenden Thrash Metal-Tour de Force darstellt.

Nach einigen Festivalauftritten in diesem Sommer wird die Band im Herbst / Winter 2017 / 18 auf Tour gehen

und mit Sicherheit nicht nur eingefleischte Genre-Fans begeistern.

The worlds of occult metal and colossal doom collide on the HANDS OF ORLAC and THE WANDERING

MIDGET split, set for a September 8 release via Cruz Del Sur Music.

Featuring four contributions from Italian/Swedish occult metal troupe HANDS OF ORLAC and one 18-minute

epic from Finnish doomsters THE WANDERING MIDGET, the split finds two disparate, unique bands offering

a glimpse into their dark and mysterious worlds.

Formed in 2009, HANDS OF ORLAC has gradually evolved from its early doom forays into a horror

soundtrack-infused outfit, heavily inspired by the works of BALLETTO DI BRONZO, GOBLIN, BIGLIETTO

PER L’INFERNO and ALPHATAURUS. The band’s four offerings on the split were recorded by veteran

producer Berno Paulsson at the renowned Berno Studio in Malmö, Sweden. With the mystical vocal and

exotic flute work of G. leading the way, HANDS OF ORLAC offer up an invigorating take on occult metal, with

both the progressive “Curse Of The Human Skull” and straightforward “From Beyond The Stars”

displaying a degree of balance that is emblematic of a band capable of pushing boundaries without falling prey

to genre clichés.

THE WANDERING MIDGET hail from Lappeenranta, Finland and were formed in 2005. The band’s 2008

“The Serpent Coven” and 2012 “From The Meadows Of Opium Dreams” LPs were riff-intense bodies of

work, channeling the true spirit of doom forerunners BLACK SABBATH and CANDLEMASS. THE

WANDERING MIDGET’s contribution to the split, “Where We March The Vultures Follow”, is their first sonic

offering in over five years, and is a true stroke of monolithic doom, laced with anguished, slow-churned

melodies and the animated vocals of Samuel Wormius.

The split is the first release on Cruz Del Sur Music for HANDS OF ORLAC and THE WANDERING MIDGET,

representing the label’s continued focus on unearthing the underground’s most challenging bands. The sounds

of occult metal and epic doom joined together have never sounded so foreboding.

»Escape!« nennt sich die brandneue EP von High Spirits. Die vier Stücke “Escape”, “Stagefright”, “Feels Like Rock And

Roll” sowie “Lonely Nights” finden sich exklusiv auf dieser limitierten Vinyl-Ausgabe.

Chris “The Professor” Black erklärt die Hintergründe dieser „Tour Souvenir EP“: „Die Songs stammen grundsätzlich aus unserer »Motivator«-Phase. 'Stagefright' beispielsweise war eigentlich für die Mittelposition des Albums vorgesehen, musste seinen Platz dann aber letztendlich für 'Do You Wanna Be Famous' räumen. 'Lonely Nights' stammt aus derselben Ära, wenn auch ursprünglich nicht explizit für High Spirits vorgesehen, dennoch ist das Stück, wie ich finde, eine logische Ergänzung dieser EP.” Von der Produktion her klingt »Escape!« ein wenig rauer, ein wenig mehr nach Rock 'n' Roll als vergangene Veröffentlichungen von High Spirits. Und genau so war das laut Chris Black auch geplant: „Jedes unserer Alben hört sich von der Aufnahme und vom Mix her unterschiedlich an. Der Sound auf »Escape!« ist aggressiver als gewöhnlich, damit folgt die Produktion diesmal dem Motto des Songwritings: 'Loud Fast Rock And Roll'.“ Auch was das Artwork betrifft, bleiben High Spirits ihrer Linie absolut treu: geradeaus, simpel, nahezu minimalistisch. Auch das gehört zu ihrem Konzept: “Unsere generelle Herangehensweise kann man in einem Wort zusammenfassen: Songs. Nach ihrem Debütalbum "Into The Storm" aus dem Jahr 2011 veröffentlichen die Kieler Heavy Metaller INNER AXIS

Die Band verbindet erneut gekonnt Anleihen aus traditionellem Heavy Metal mit modernen Einflüssen und

nähern sich INNER AXIS respektvoll den Genregrößen und beschreiten gleichzeitig eigene Pfade.

Dabei paart sich eine amtliche Produktion mit knackigen Grooves, fetzigen Gitarren und hymnischen Refrains, die

nicht selten in epische "Battle-Arrangements" eingebettet sind. Der Albumtitel "We Live By The Steel" definiert

ebenso sprichwörtlich den inhaltlichen Kontext, durchaus bewusst thematisch an klassische Genregrößen wie

Manowar angelehnt.

Auf der Bühne konnten INNER AXIS bereits als Support von Enforcer, Paragon, Paul DiAnno, Portrait, Seven

Thorns oder Shadowbane überzeugen. Nun brennen die Kieler darauf, auch das neue Material live zu verbreiten.

Es ist ein schmaler Grat, um Brutalität, technischen Anspruch und Eingängigkeit so zu kombinieren, daß als Resultat extreme Songs entstehen, welche den Hörer fesseln und die sie jederzeit wiedererkennen. NERVECELL meistern dies beeindruckend. Das Einsetzen von Folklore des Mittleren Ostens macht dabei einen nicht geringen Anteil aus. Die aus Dubai stammmende Band ist jedoch trotz ihrer “speziellen Zutaten” hauptsächlich eine kompromisslose Death Metal Band, aber eben genau auch diese Zutaten machen NERVECELL zu etwas besonderen in ihrem Genre. “Past, Present…Torture” ist nun das dritte Album der Band nach ihrem viel beachteten 2011 Release “Psychogenocide”.

“Past, Present…Torture” wurde von niemand geringerem gemixt & gemastert als Wojtek und Slawek Wiesawski in den legendären Hertz Studios (BEHEMOTH, DECAPITATED, VADER) in Polen. Für das Cover Artwork konnte die Band Colin Marks von Rain Song Design (ORIGIN, EXODUS, WHITECHAPEL) verpflichten. Mit seinen 13 außergewöhnlichen Songs ist “Past, Present…Torture” NERVECELLs bisher extremstes und vielseitigstes Album. Der Titel spricht dabei für sich selbst, fokusiert auf den Zustand der Welt und wo wir alle als Zivilisation hindriften, “Past, Present…Torture” dient als eine kurze Zusammenfassung für beides, die lyrische Botschaft und die musikalische Ausrichtung. Wenn ihr auf Christian Mistress steht, dann ist die Wahrscheinlichkeit groß, dass ihr Quayde LaHüe lieben werdet! Wieso?

Zwischen beiden Bands besteht eine enge Beziehung, wie Bassist Reuben Storey erklärt: “Nachdem Jonny Wulf und ich

2015 eine äußerst intensive Tour mit Christan Mistress hinter uns gebracht hatten, wollten wir unbedingt neue Songs

schreiben. Mit Christan Mistress ging das allerdings nicht, weil wir uns auf eine temporäre Auszeit verständigt hatten. Der

Pool von Musikern in unserer Heimatstadt Olympia st nicht besonders groß, sodass personelle Überschneidungen

zwangläufig nicht ausbleiben.”

Der Sound von Quayde LaHüe ist recht spartanisch und reduziert, quasi eine Mischung aus NWOMHM und Hardrock der siebziger Jahre. Sänger Jenna Fitton hat mit dieser Beschreibung kein Problem: “Wir lieben Boogie-Rock! Zwar mögen sich unsere Stücke sehr simpel anhören, aber glaub mir, wir verbringen eine Menge Zeit damit, die Musik wirklich zu spüren und uns aufeinander abzustimmen. Alle fünf Bandmitglieder tragen ihren Anteil zum Gesamtfeeling von Quayde LaHüe bei. Die Arbeit an diesem Material macht uns viel Spaß.” Mit der Veröffentlichung von »Day Of The Oppressor« über High Roller Records beginnt die zweite Phase in der Karriere von Quayde LaHüe. Früher oder später wird ein erstes offizielles Studioalbum erscheinen. Reuben Storey erklärt: “Wir hören eigentlich nie auf, neue Songs zu schreiben. Ein Stück mit dem Arbeitstitel ‘I Am Warrior’ ist schon fertig. Das neue Album wird einfach großartig werden.”

Biografie: SILIUS aus Österreich wurden im Herbst 2013 gegründet. Die Bandmitglieder Ralph (Drums), Haui (Lead Guitar), Mex (Rhythm Guitar), Martin (Bass) und

Matthias (Vocals) wandern unüberhörbar in den Spuren ihrer Helden Pantera, Exodus, Black Sabbath und Metallica.

2015 veröffentlichten SILIUS ihr erstes Demo namens "DEMOn" und bald schon waren sie auf allen heimischen Brettern unterwegs, die ihre Heavy Metal

Welt bedeuteten! Die Tiroler gehen mit enormer Spielfreude an ihr Werk, wodurch sie 2015 den Metalchamp (Österreichischer Contest für Metalbands)

und das Wacken Metal Battle für sich entscheiden und Österreich beim legendären Wacken Open Air vertraten.

2015 war generell ein sehr erfolgreiches Jahr für SILIUS; sie spielten unzählige Gigs, unter anderem bei den MetalDays in Slowenien, Nova Rock,

Wacken Open Air oder Kaltenbach Open Air und als Support für Arch Enemy oder Biohazard.

2016 verbrachte die Band auf der Bühne und in den The Prophecy Studios, wo sie zusammen mit ihrem Produzenten R.D. Liapakis (Mystic Prophecy,

Devil’s Train, Firewind, Suicidal Angels) an den Songs für das kommende Album "Hell Awakening" feilten, das Anfang September 2017 bei Massacre

Records erscheinen wird.

The first-ever compilation of the most important gospel crossover recordings by the Clark Sisters and their leader Elbernita ‘Twinkie’ Clark. The Clark Sisters were at their very best on this material, and it made them stars of the gospel world. The CD focuses on their recordings for Westbound subsidiary Sound Of Gospel made between 1976 and 1981. These tracks saw the group at the forefront of modernising gospel music, something that wasn’t without controversy. This culminated in the surprise success of ‘You Brought The Sunshine’ - an early 80s classic on the New York club scene. In recent years collectors have realised that the Sisters four Sound Of Gospel albums are full of soul-influenced cuts, from the four-to-the-floor disco exuberance of ‘Everything’s Gonna Be Alright’ to the impassioned ‘I’m Going To Have Just What I Want’ with its nods to Aretha Franklin. Twinkie was so full of music that she released two further albums under her own name. The second, “Ye Shall Receive Power”, now sells for hundreds of pounds, based on demand for the track ‘Awake O Zion’. We have included four of the best tracks from these albums.

Produzent Whitfield experimentierte bei ihren Aufnahmen mit psychedelischen Soundeffekten wie er es bereits seit

Ende der 1960er Jahre mit den Temptations gemacht hatte. Das Songmaterial von The Undisputed Truth

bestand denn auch oftmals aus Titeln, die schon zuvor oder etwa zeitgleich auch von den Temptations

aufgenommen wurden und in deren Versionen teilweise große Hits waren. So z. B. ‘Ball of Confusion‘, ‘Law of

the Land‘, ‘Papa Was a Rollin’ Stone‘ und ‘Just My Imagination (Running Away with Me)‘. Allerdings war die

Praxis, dass einzelne Titel gleich von mehreren Vertragskünstlern aufgenommen wurden im Hause Motown/Gordy

ohnehin keine Seltenheit. ‘Smiling Faces Sometimes‘ aus dem 1971 erschienenen selbstbetitelten Debütalbum

erreichte 1971 Platz 3 der Billboard Hot 100. In den Jahren 1972–1974 erschienen drei weitere LPs, die fast

ausschließlich aus Coverversionen bestanden, darunter Marvin Gayes ‘What's Going On‘, ‘With a Little Help from

My Friends‘ von den Beatles, Roberta ‘Flacks Killing Me Softly‘.

Überraschenderweise wurde bislang nur eines der insgesamt vier Alben der Formation für Motown als CD

wiederveröffentlicht. Mit ‘Nothing But The Truth‘, ‘Down To Earth‘ und ‘Law Of The Land‘ kommen nun die drei

wichtigsten Alben auf einer Doppel-CD die noch mit Bonustracks versehen wurde. Darunter A und B-Seiten,

Sadly, our good friend and colleague Vicki Fox died in 2016. As a teenager she’d worked at Rock On before becoming involved with Ace, where her skill at photographic restoration enhanced so many of our releases. A gifted artist and a passionate music fan, Vicki’s joie de vivre and live-wire personality enriched everything she undertook.

Vicki also compiled several releases herself. Her love of cats was immortalised in “Feline Groovy” (CDCHD 1168), a CD which launched a thousand T-shirts. This was followed by “All Aboard” (CDCHD 1450), a highly eclectic collection of train songs.

No less eclectic, Vicki’s latest, and last, compilation draws upon another of her passions – the wild and wacky instrumental. Casting her net wide from MOR to Reggae, Rockabilly to R&B “Sounds Unexpected” celebrates the unusual, the groovy and the downright bonkers with 24 of her favourite cuts. With recordings by André Brasseur, the Tornados, Travis Wammack, Martin Denny and the Upsetters, the result is never less than intriguing and entertaining.

Echoing her own inclusive nature, two dozen of Vicki’s friends and work colleagues contribute to the sleeve notes.

in the garage. Like their male counterparts discovered, being in a band was not only cool and alluring, it

was sexual and ultimately political without making a ‘political’ statement. The garage band was a

medium that enabled a voice to be heard, an adolescent fury of angst and frustration or plain old

hormones. Girls In the Garage captures the raw essence of those juvenile dreams played out through

Nach zwei EPs in Eigenproduktion liefern Mirrorplan mit ihrem ersten Longplayer "Path Of Salvation" ein melodisches
