Homework & Reports

Will I get homework?

How will I know how well I am doing at school?

If you are going to make good progress at school, you need to spend some extra time each day going over your work, doing assignments, reading and making sure you understand what has been done in class. Most evenings you’ll have specific work set. At other times you should do some reading or revision.

As a general guide, Year 9 and 10 students should expect to do one hour’s extra work each school day and senior students at least two hours. If you do not do this each day, you will find that you need to spend much more time when you finally settle down to work.

Students who do the set work and manage their time appropriately generally do well at school.

To help you with your studies textbooks are provided by the school.

All students will be expected to purchase a homework diary.

In all courses there are regular tests and assignments which the teachers mark and for most senior students there are ongoing assessments and examinations at least once a year.

Year 9 and 10 students will have examinations at the end of the year.We report to your parents on your

progress three times a year.Parent teacher evenings are an opportunity for you and your parents to discuss with your teachers how you are doing and what you need to do to make even better progress.

There will be other opportunities for you to see how well you are doing.

For example, there are Mathex and Science Fairs, you can enter the Australasian Maths, Science, Writing and English Competitions, Alliance Francaise, Manu Korero Speech and Classics Society competitions, Geography quiz, debating, sporting, drama and musical competitions.
