SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT ASSOCIATION OF LIBRARIANS OF EUROPEAN DOCUMENT COLLECTIONS FROMED IN BRITAIN An Association of EDC Librarians has been formed in Britain. This follows a succession of regional and national meetings and the setting up of local groups. Librarians in charge of European document collections met in London on 30 March 1981 and heard papers given by Community Officials from Brussels and Luxembourg. It was during subsequent discussion sessions on the themes of acquisition, bibliographic control, and exploitation of materials that the proposal to found the new association was accepted. With membership open to all EDC/DEP librarians, the Association has the following ob- jectives: l To provide a forum for the exchange of experience and the dissemination of information among EDC/DEP librarians. l To represent the views of EDC/DEP librarians to the Institutions of the European Com- munities on all matters relating to the EDC/DEP system. l To promote the efficient administration and exploitation of EDC/DEP collections, with particular regard to improved provision for the education and training of EDC/DEP librarians. l To promote improved bibliographic standards and to encourage bibliographical study and research relating to the documents and publications of the European Communities. l To support the activities of, and cooperate with, organisations which benefit the members or objectives of the Association, including similar associations in other countries. ASSOCIATION OF LIBRARIANS OF EUROPEAN DOCUMENT COLLECTIONS FROMED IN BRITAIN

An Association of EDC Librarians has been formed in Britain. This follows a succession of regional and national meetings and the setting up of local groups.
