The purpose of this competition is to encourage active participation of students in the ASME Power Conference by submitting high quality technical papers on various aspects of Power Engineering. Students participating in this competition will be required to make a presentation during a technical session dedicated to student papers; presenters may also have the option to present in the professional specific track should an opening be available. This Competition seeks to promote the interaction of future engineers with practicing and experienced engineers and to help them establish mentoring and networking links with experts in their areas of interest.

S t u d e n t S u p p o r t & A w a r d i n g :

Only Student-Presenters with accepted papers are eligible for this Award and the ASME Power Division will provide (1) one Student Award. To promote submission of student papers a discounted Conference Registration Fee for students who have a paper accepted in the Student Track will be provided. If the student plans on attending any workshops, tours, etc. these fees will be offered at regular student prices. Students are allowed to have a Faculty advisor listed on the paper, but the advisor shall not be listed as an Author or Co-Author and instead as an advisor only. Authors and Co-Authors must be of the same graduate level. Practicing engineers are allowed to be advisors, but the entirety of the paper must be of the students with the Faculty and Practicing Engineers acting as editors only. The Student Award for the winning paper will include:

• Invitation to Awards Ceremony

• Wooden Plaque recognizing achievement

• Winning paper will be published in a digital issue of Energy-Tech Magazine

• Reimbursement of travel and lodging of up to $500

• Cash award of $1,500

P a p e r S u b m i t t a l P r o c e s s :

A dedicated Technical Track will be included on the Conference Website (Track 14). This Technical Track will be identified as Student Paper Competition. All student papers being submitted shall be submitted under the Student Paper Competition Track. Abstract acceptance and paper review process will follow the same procedure and peer review process as all other papers. Student Paper subjects shall address various aspects of Power Engineering and be in line with topics identified by current Technical Tracks and Sessions. To assist with identifying which Technical Track the paper would be submitted to the author is ask to include the Track in parentheses at the end of the abstract, i.e. (Track 1).

R e g i s t r a t i o n a n d R e s t r i c t i o n s :

All Students whose papers have been accepted into the Student Competition and have been notified accordingly must register for the conference by the end of the advanced registration period. If the student is not register by this date their paper will not be considered in the Student Competition.   

• Qualified Students should be members of ASME or registered for the Conference

• Qualified Students must be pursuing a bachelors or master degree and provide proof of student status

• In Qualified Student papers, the student must be the first author and presenter

• Only one student (first author) per paper will be considered for the Award

• Students must present their paper
