We have reached the end of the 2014-2015 school year! Time for all of us to “get

on our way”!

First we must take a few moments to reflect on all that we have accomplished

this academic year:

All of our students have excelled with their studies and have grown socially, emotionally and physi-

cally;

Our teachers and staff have given their best efforts to ensure that everyone here at AITIS experienced

success;

Together with the parents we have helped make this a very successful school year.

We have had a fantastic year here at AIT International School and I am extremely proud of everyone!

There are many “thank you” messages to relate:

Thank you

STUDENTS for all your effor ts, resilience, persistence and creativity.

TEACHERS for your dedication to your life’s vocation.

PARENTS for you unwaver ing suppor t.

I especially want to thank the PTA Committee for their excellent efforts on behalf of our students. It

was, indeed, a pleasure and honor working with you throughout the school year.

We must say “thank you” and “goodbye” to one of our staff members - Mrs. Maheema shall be leav-

ing AITIS at the end of the school year to return to her home country. We appreciate all her efforts in

teaching, guiding and caring for our students. I know you will join me in wishing her every success in

her future endeavors.

Soon we will be saying “goodbye” to our sixth grade students. Graduation ceremonies will be held

during “AITIS Annual Day” celebration on Friday, 5th June 2015.

I am very proud of our “graduates” and wish them much success in their new schools. They shall al-

ways be a part of the AITIS “family” and they shall always be welcome back to visit with us.

Soon we shall be welcoming two (2) new staff members to AITIS. We shall be adding an addi-

tional Third Grade for the 2015-2016 school year. A new teacher will be brought on staff to help us

with this endeavor. We shall also be hiring a new ICT teacher. Further information will be provided

prior to the beginning of the new school year.

After the school year finishes on Friday, 5th June 2015, AITIS will be offering a ten day “Summer Days,

Summer Fun” activity for students Nursery through Sixth Grade. Activities will include: Reading; Math; Mu-

sic; Dance; Art/Crafts and several other exciting activities. Classes will commence at 8:15 and wrap-up at

11:45. Parents are asked to kindly pick up your children from school by 12:00 (noon).

Report Cards will be issued for Nursery through Fifth Grade on Wednesday, 3rd June 2015. Sixth

Grade Report Cards will be issued during the “AITIS Annual Day” on Friday, 5th June 2015.

Class photos will also be sent home on Wednesday, 3rd June 2015.

Please note that AIT International School policy forbids teachers/staff from receiving payment/

gratuity for private tutoring classes.

This policy’s purpose is to ensure that there is no “conflict of interest” within the school.

AIT International School offers remediation classes for students who need extra help on Mondays

after regular school hours.

Please do not ask AITIS teachers to provide private tuition classes under any circumstances.

AIT International School makes every effort to offer quality, affordable international education to

all of our students. AITIS must also maintain financial good health. In order to ensure future budget-

ary positive responsibility it will become necessary to increase the tuition for Nursery through Pre-K

2 classes beginning August 2015.

There will be a two-step increment over the next two (2) school years, which will bring the tuition

for NY, Pre-K1 and Pre-K2 in line with the tuition for K-6th Grade.

August, 2015: Nursery Years, Pre-K1 and Pre-K2 tuition = THB 53,500

August, 2016: Nursery Years, Pre-K1 and Pre-K2 tuition = THB 64,200

AIT faculty, staff and students will continue to receive their educational allowance through their

respective departments/units at the new rate.

*There will be no increase in tuition for Kindergarten through 6th Grade.

Please contact me should you have any questions regarding this matter.

Science Day has been a customary celebration

in any school. This school year 2014-2015, AIT

International School allotted two days for such ac-

tivity. The Science Days highlighted the theme

“Technology and Nature for our Changing World.”

There was a Campus Science Tour for Grades 3 to

6, Pre-Kindergarten and Elementary Sections Sci-

ence Project Presentations on the first day, and Sci-

ence Project Presentation by the Parents and Film Viewing on the second day.

The celebration kick-started with an opening program. The Grade 2 class presented the Water Cycle

song. Mr. Kevin Mauritson, the school principal, gave his opening remarks. In his speech, he told the

students to “learn and get inspired” by the activities. The schedule for the two-day Science Days event

was also discussed with the students.

Grades 3 to 6 left the school to visit Science and Technology sites around AIT Campus. Grades 3

and 6 went to Energy Park while Grades 4 and 5 went to Mechatronics of the Industrial Systems Engi-

neering. After some time, there was a short snack break and the two groups swapped sites.

In Mechatronics, the students were welcomed by Dr. Manukid Parnichkhun, the head of the depart-

ment. He first gave an orientation of what the students should expect. He also divided the visitors into

smaller groups to make it easier and time-efficient in visiting booths which the graduate students of the

department were manning.

There the students saw different interesting robots like robot bicycle, robot pingpong players, robotic

mobile, et cetera. They were also given the chance to ask about each robot, how they function, and what

are there practical applications to daily life. The undergraduate students were gracious enough to an-

swer the questions regarding each robot’s purpose and demonstrate its full range of motion.

After some time, the two groups converged in an area between the two locations to have a break

and to swap sites.

At the Energy Park, the students learned about how solar energy can be harnessed through solar

panels and how the stored energy can be channeled and power devices for everyday use. A video was

presented about how the solar energy, in its raw form, can be stored and tapped for later use.

While all of this was going on outside of the school, the Nursery, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergar-

ten classes were having great preparations and classroom set-ups for their hands-on activities. They had

simple experiments and Grades 1 and 2 were invited for viewing and observation. Parents were also

invited for observations at their own convenience.

At 11:20 a.m., the campus explorers went back to school. There were a lot of information to be di-

gested.

After cleaning up and arranging the classrooms for the afternoon’s event, everyone had their lunch.

At 12:45 to 2:30 in the afternoon, the grade school section had their Science Projects presentations.

Each class prepared 4 projects to be presented, and one from them was displayed as an exhibit at the

lobby.

Half of the class stayed back in the classroom for the first part of the afternoon while the rest went

from classroom to classroom to observe other experiments and ask questions. During the transition pe-

riod, the two groups switched places.

On the second day, some of the se-

lected parents of AITIS went to their

designated areas to set-up their own ex-

periments and science projects. These

talented and dedicated parents were sep-

arated into three groups since their

presentations were categorized into: the

Magic of Science, Kitchen Science, and

Mechanical & Robotics.

In their respective areas, they re-

ceived classes for observation, asking

questions, and manipulation. In the

Magic of Science, students were fasci-

nated as to how Science works and

brings about unbelievable results.

Glowing jelly, walking on a carton of

eggs, and slime soaked in tonic water

are only a few experiments among the

many that the students really liked.

There was also dough making with dif-

ferent colors in Kitchen Science. In

Mechanical Science & Robotics, stu-

dents lingered the longest because there

was so much to see and manipulate.

The Science Projects Presentation of the

parent lasted the whole morning of the

second day.

In the afternoon, each class watched

a Science-related film. Most of the clas-

ses opted for Cloudy with a Chance of

Meatballs because it shows that curiosi-

ty and inventiveness of a young mind

can lead to great inventions in the fu-

ture. There were lots of lessons which

the students reflected upon during their

class discussion after watching the film.

Overall, the Science Days was a suc-

cess. In the closing speech of Mr. Kev-

in, he pointed out that he was happy that

all of the students experienced a lot in

two days, and that he was also pleased

that the students engaged in hands-on

activities in exploring the different Sci-

ence projects presented by both the stu-

dents on the first day, and by the parents

on the second day. Everyone is looking

forward for next year’s edition of the

Science Day(s).

From PTA Chair Dear all,

Time has flown by very fast. I cannot be-

lieve this is my last PTA letter for the AITIS

bulletin. I would like to thank you for your

kindest support to the PTA council and our

school. These are the most unforgettable experi-

ences I have ever had.

When I was selected as the PTA Chair per-

son, I had no confidence at all for this position.

Since then I have been comforted/supported/

advised by Mr. Kevin, teacher Nirja, other PTA

council members, teachers, parents, and the AI-

TIS Student Council officers. My confidence

level has increased because whenever I had any

difficulty, they would always stand beside me.

Thank you to all my dear friends!

In addition I would like to update you on the

construction of the car park near the canal. We

are now waiting for the construction drawing

and quotation. We hope we can get it done be-

fore the rainy season. We are also planning to

utilize this car park for the PE field during

school time.

Thank you all for your support once again.

Kindest Regards,

Sukunya

1. Focus on strengths. When your child brings

home a test, talk first about what he or she did

well. Then talk about what can be improved.

Praise specific strengths. Don’t just criticize

things that were done wrong.

2. Follow up with consequences for misbehav-

ior. Sometimes parents say things in anger that

don’t curb the behavior in the long run. You might

say, “Because of what you did, no television for a

month.” Both you and your child know that after

one or two days the TV will go back on. Decide

on consequences that are fair, and then carry them

out.

3. Ask children how they feel. When you ask

your child about his or her feelings, the message is

that feelings matter and you care.

4. Find ways to stay calm when angry. It’s nor-

mal to get angry or irritated sometimes. Learn to

recognize “trigger situations” and do something

about them before you lose control. Try taking

deep breaths for a few moments. Consider having

a “quiet area” where people can go when they are

upset. Or you can just stop talking and leave the

room for a while. Sit down as a family and talk

about what everyone can do to stay calm.

5. Avoid humiliating or mocking your child.

This can make children feel bad about themselves.

It can lead to a lack of self-confidence and, in

turn, problems with schoolwork, illness, and trou-

ble getting along with friends. Unfair criticism

and sarcasm also hurts the bond of trust between

children and parents. Be mindful of how you

speak to your children. Give them the room to

make mistakes as they learn new skills.

6. Be willing to apologize. Parents need to be

able to apologize to their children if what they

said was not what they meant. Calmly explain

what you really wanted to say. By doing this

you’re being a good role model. You’re showing

how important it is to apologize after hurting

someone. You’re teaching that it’s possible to

work through problems with respect for the other

person.

7. Give children choices and respect their wish-

es. When children have a chance to make choices,

they learn how to solve problems. If you make all

their choices for them, they’ll never learn this key

skill. Giving children ways to express preferences

and make decisions shows that their ideas and

feelings matter.

8. Ask questions that help children solve prob-

lems on their own. When parents hear their child

has a problem, it’s tempting to step in and take

over. But this can harm a child’s ability to find

solutions on his or her own. A helpful approach is

to ask good questions. Examples include, “What

do you think you can do in this situation?” and “If

you choose a particular solution, what will be the

consequences of that choice?”

9. Read books and stories together. Reading

stories aloud is a way to share something enjoya-

ble and learn together about other people. For ex-

ample, stories can be a way to explore how people

deal with common issues like making or losing

friends or handling conflicts. Ask your child’s

teacher or a librarian to recommend stories on

themes that interest you and your children.

10. Encourage sharing and helping. There are

many ways to do this. Together you and your

child can prepare food in a homeless shelter or go

on a fund-raising walk-a-thon. You can help out

elderly neighbors or needy families. This teaches

children that what they do can make a difference

in the lives of others.

Nursery A Curiosity sparks interest. Interest ignites learning.

Learning promotes growth. As the Nursery children

slowly close in to the end of the school year, AITIS

continually feeds them more opportunities to heighten

their quest for discovering the world around them and

how and why things happen as they are. These little

Einsteins below (Nursery A 1 & 2) got busy during

My Summer 2015 Timeline Songkran Holiday

Summer time is coming and I feel hot all the

time. On the first day of Songkran holiday, I slept

in my parents’ room because it has AC. The next

day, I had a party at Bavinee’s house. We played

water gun and there was a mini pool also. On the

Baby Mosquito’s Space Travel One day, Baby Mosquito and his Dad wanted

to go to space. But his Mom didn’t want to go.

She said, “Don’t go to the space”. One night, Ba-

by Mosquito and his Dad were planning to go to

space. Baby Mosquito gave a sleeping medicine

to his Mom. And his Dad built a rocket that was

100 meters tall. They packed up all the things and

fixed the fuel tank. But they needed to find some

fuel. “It’s too difficult to find them”. His Dad

said. They got it from the market and it took 3

hours finding it! Baby mosquito took his Mom to

the rocket and launched it. His Mom woke up and

said, “Where’s that yucky smell coming from?”

So Baby Mosquito and his Dad put the slice of

dead chicken out. The next problem was his

mother who wanted to see a TV. So Dad went

out. His mother saw him. “We are in space.” His

Mom shouted! They went to Mars and Neptune,

then they came back to Earth. “Phew”, they all

said. Then they wrote in the Diary, “Our Family

Trip”.

Alexander, G-1

My End Term Realization I took my first step into Grade 4 with hopes of

a very fun and exciting grade.

I was very excited, I was very excited but at

the same time, I was nervous too. I was scared

that friends would bully me. I was scared that our

teacher would scold me until I cry. All these stuff

turned out to be untrue. These days, our class

teacher appreciates the things I do. She gives me

a lot of opportunities to help my classmates, who

have difficulty understanding math problems.

I was also very shy and unsociable. I used to

be very scared to go in front of the class and talk.

I was always waiting for weekends, because I

usually hate school. As days started to pass by, it

was second semester. Looking at me now, I have

improved a lot. I am now confident and I have

improved my social skills by making a lot of new

friends. I am now very eager to share my

thoughts in front of the class. And I no longer

wait for weekends. I learned to love school.

It has come to the last two weeks. It is surpris-

ing to think how I grew from the girl who used to

be very shy and scared to the girl who is now al-

ways talking and playing. I am very proud of

myself! I’ve learned a lot from grade 4 and I will

never forget it.

It’s Sunny! It’s fun to play outside. People like to play out-

side on a sunny day. Sunny days can make people

happy. Children wear hats and sunglasses to pro-

tect them from the sun. Sunshine melts snow and

again. They dance like this a few times and then

go hunting.

The Butterfly and the Bird Once upon a time there was a butterfly and a

bird. One day, the bird went out and he saw a

beautiful butterfly. He thought for a long time and

he had an idea. The bird went near him and start-

ed to talk to him. But the butterfly didn’t say any-

thing. It flew away. The bird was sad and he went

to his best friend and said, “I want to be a butter-

fly. Will you help me?” His friend said, “Yes.”

So he was very happy and said,” Thank you for

helping.” Then he went home and went off to

sleep. He dreamt about being a butterfly.

When he woke up, he was a butterfly. His

friend had colored his body with colors when he

was sleeping! He then went to the butterfly. The

butterfly was curious and he asked, “Who are

you?” He said, “Remember me? I am the bird you

met yesterday!” Then they became good friends.

The Parrot and the Donkey Far far away in a village lived a parrot and a

donkey. The donkey was very helpful. He was

always ready to help people in need. He carried

goods and also carried kids and old people on his

back without complaining. All the people in the

village loved cared and fed him very well.

The parrot was very rude and did not like any-

one. He bit anyone who came close to him. He

even bit those people who brought food for him.

No one liked the parrot and no one looked for

him when he flew away from the cage. He was

away alone by himself.

The Amulet Story “Tik tok tik tok 123”. “I’m awake!!”

“Hi! I’m Elsha a girl with an amazing story

here to tell y’all. I shall begin at the lake 14 years

ago.

I walked along a path beside the woods and

beside Aunt Cass. There I stood and waited for

what shall come next… Swoosh goes the wind,

that doesn’t make sense right? Anyways.. I sat

and sat and started to fall asleep…ha ha ha ha!!!

Ah…never gets old. BANG! BANG! RAN-

GOOTAN!!! I woke up and started to feel cold. I

wore a jacket to make myself warmer. I looked

around to see if anyone was there so I yelled,

“Help! Help!” all the time. When I stopped yell-

ing a huge storm appeared right in front of me.

“No way” I ran like a lightning bolt, but the wind

sent me somewhere else. I arrived but found my-

self on a puddle, “Yuk”. I stepped out but tripped,

and a purple amulet was found! I took it and ran

home.

Once I arrived I wore it, but something

strange happened. I stepped out the door, “blah

blah blah”, what was that noise? I looked around

but noticed no one talking. “Hello Elsha.” I

turned back and saw My DOG TALKING TO

ME! Birds flew in and said hello. Even the cats

did. That night I sneaked outside and went in the

woods. Animals performed for me and we were

best friends. I was happy that I had friends to play

with and talk to.

Several years passed and the animals and I be-

came great friends but something went wrong.

Trees became blacker and blacker and the water

became gray. Animals became scared. My dog

and I were talking about it and my dog said, “This

is a problem from the kingdom of Nature. This

problem was created by one of the wicked witch-

es of the west. She is the one who stole the most

precious jewel and the most powerful one in all

the land. This problem had actually happened 14

years ago. Tomorrow at midnight a full moon will

rise with the color of black and green and the God

of the Underworld will appear and will be shown

to the entire planet. But once the jewel has been

returned, the destruction will be stopped.” Elsha

said, “Let’s go and give the jewel back. “ “Oh

yeah”, said her dog, “but how are we going to go

up?” Let’s find a secret path that will lead us

there”, she said. “Let’s go!” said the dog.

They found a path that led them to a huge

kingdom. Elsha and her dog went inside. All the

Gods saw her holding the amulet and they were

so surprised. They said, “THANK YOU!” and

she was very happy. The gods said, “Now you

may go back to your little home.” She was very

pleased with herself for doing a good deed and

the Gods gave her the power to talk to animals.

“YA!!!”

The End?

Hey! Well, that’s the end of this story but the

beginning of ANOTHER! Bye!!

The Boy and the Dragon One day, Peter and his family were going on a

trip to an island. They called it Cilly. As they

were nearing the island, Peter saw something fly-

ing. It was a dragon! It was magnificent. Sudden-

ly it flew down and blew fire.

Peter and his family were very afraid and

rowed their boat to shore. Peter’s father knew the

dangers if the dragon came back. So he told the

family to set up their camp inside a cave. The

cave was cold dark and creepy.

The following day Peter got up early and went

exploring the island. While walking Peter saw a

baby dragon was trapped in thick bushes. Peter

knew what to do. He pulled out some branches

and baby dragon was free! Peter was cold but the

baby dragon blew fire to keep him warm. The

baby missed his mother, so Peter helped him to

find his mother the next morning.

He searched all over the island for a long time,

finally they saw the mother. The mother realized

that Peter helped her baby so she did not harm

Peter. But Peter was still afraid. It was only then

that Peter realized that it was dark already and he

couldn’t find his way back. He looked sad and

worried but suddenly the baby nudged Peter clos-

er to his mommy. Peter obliged and the mommy

blew fire into the nearby bush to keep Peter

warm.

The next day Peter’s family went in search of

him when suddenly they heard a loud shout from

above. When they looked up they saw Peter rid-

ing on the back of a dragon and waving at them!

It was a happy family reunion. From that day on

Peter was never afraid of dragons.

The Warrior’s Adventure One day, Thorstein, a very strong warrior,

sailed off in search of adventure. On top of a cliff,

he saw a gnome crying, “A bird of prey has

snatched my wife away!” Thorstein helped to get

his wife so the gnome gave him three special

stones to show his appreciation. They were three

small stones- white, yellow and red. White stone

could make snow, yellow made the sun shine

brightly and the red stone made lightning. The

warrior travelled on until he ran into a gigantic

ogre. “I will eat you in one gulp!” said the ogre.

Thorstein took out the little yellow stone and it

began to snow very heavily. The ogre shivered.

Then the warrior took out the little yellow stone

and the burning sun melted all the snow which

turned into a river. The ogre was engulfed by the

raging water. Finally, the warrior took out the lit-

tle red stone. The ogre was struck by the lightning

bolt. The gnome’s gift saved the warrior’s life.

the land and there were no leaves and grass on the

ground. Livy went to look for food everywhere

but there were no leaves or grass left. Then Livy

saw some leaves on a high tree but she could not

reach them. But she saw the giraffe eating them.

Bob the giraffe saw Livy and asked her, “Do you

want some leaves?” and she said, “Yes please.”

“Here have some,” said Bob. “Thank you,” said

Livy and they became best friends. The next day

there were no more leaves on the tall trees and the

giraffe was so hungry. The rabbit had saved some

leaves from the day before. Livy saw Bob hungry

and offered him some leaves. The giraffe was

very thankful and they shared the food together.

My Time in Grade 4 Have you ever wondered why time goes by so

fast? If you have, you will understand how I feel

right now. The end of the school year can bring

up a lot of feelings for a lot of students in school.

Mixed emotions that I could describe myself.

Somehow happy that I succeeded my grade 4. At

the same time I am sad that I may not see my

classmates, friends and of course all my teachers

in school. I am also excited to move to the next

level of challenges as a student but a little worried

if my Grade 5 will be a room of caring, support-

ive teachers and helpful classmates.

I would like to share with you some of the

things I have learned throughout this year. At the

beginning of my year in Grade 4, I was not that

confident. I am a very shy student who only looks

at and observe the students and my teachers in

school. I was afraid to ask questions as I don’t

want my teachers to think about me that I don’t

know anything. But there was no escape in the

classroom. In every new lessons or topics we had

there were always activity groups that we had to

share ideas with before and after the lessons.

Sometimes I became a leader and sometimes I

become a member and the listener. I had no

choice but to open the discussions and give my

opinions to my group mates and hear the others’

ideas as well. I became friends with all my class-

mates not only to Urvi.

Now, I found out myself that I do ask a lot of

questions and have developed more self-

confidence. Before I couldn’t write cursive and I

was very scared to get mistakes in doing it but

listening to my teacher saying, “Everyone can do

it, just a little bit of patience, and never giving up

trying until we succeed,” I got my strength and

perseverance.

Now my teacher commented that I have a very

good handwriting. I know that it takes a lot of

hard work and strong determination. I learned

many things in Grade 4 but the most important

things that I am taking with me is to” believe in

myself, try my best, and be a hardworking stu-

dent. These things I believe will help me to be

successful in whatever I do in the future.

The Steadfast Tin Soldier Retold (Musical Interpretative)

From Music Class

(While Listening to Dmitri Shostakovich’s Piano

Concerto No. 2)

Once, there was Jack-in-the-box, a music box

ballerina and a toy tin soldier. Jack was in love

with the ballerina but she did not like him. The

soldier tried to protect her but he failed.

When the soldier and Jack fought, the soldier

went down the waterfall, past the mice and rats.

He got eaten by a fish, but the fish was caught by

fishermen. The fishermen then sold the fish to the

toy soldier’s owner who found him and put him

back to his box.

At midnight, the soldier finally defeated Jack-

in-the-box and the soldier and the ballerina lived

happily ever after.

Beetley, G-4

In a house at midnight, the toys became alive.

There was a ballerina, a tin soldier, and an ugly

Jack-in-the-box. The Jack-in-the-box liked the

ballerina but the ballerina didn’t. A soldier with

one leg thought the ballerina had one leg and

gave her a rose but she had two legs. Even so,

they fell in love.

The soldier and Jack-in-the-box had a fight.

The Jack-in-the-box threw a wooden boat to the

soldier who fell out the window. He fell into the

drain and out into the water. He got eaten by a

fish but the fish got caught and sold. The fish was

bought by the owner of the same house where the

toy soldier came from in the beginning.

The soldier and the Jack-in-the-box had anoth-

er fight but the soldier won. Jack-in-the-box fell

into the fire and the soldier and the ballerina lived

happily ever after.

Pyae Phyo, G-4

At midnight, there were three toys that become

alive – the tin soldier, the ballerina, and the pup-

pet. The tin soldier and the puppet liked the balle-

rina. When the soldier saw that the ballerina had

one leg, he was happy. So he went near to her and

gave her a rose. But then he saw her with two

legs, he was sad. But she still liked him. So they

played together.

Suddenly, the puppet showed up and pushed

him out the window. The tin soldier went down to

the sewer and into the deep waters. Then he got

swallowed by a fish. Later, the fish was caught

and sold to the owner of the house where the sol

dier came from. The ballerina was sad when the

tin soldier was gone but the puppet was happy. At

midnight when the toys became alive again, the

tin soldier defeated the puppet, throwing him into

the fire. Then the ballerina and the soldier lived

happy together.

Renaya, G-4

When the clock struck midnight, all the toys

become alive. The Jack-in-the-box saw the balle-

rina and loved her. The tin soldier with only one

leg also saw her and thought she also had only

one leg, so he loved her too. And then he saw that

she actually had 2 legs and he was sad. But she

was so kind that he didn’t mind the difference

between them.

So Jack-in-the-box and the tin soldier started

fighting for the ballerina. The Jack in the box

started throwing blocks at the soldier. The soldier

fell out the window and into the drain. Some of

the rats in the sewer tried to eat him but he es-

caped. He fell into the ocean and a fish ate him.

Next day, a fisherman caught that particular fish

and sold it to a woman who was in the house

where the toy soldier came from. The soldier fell

out of the fish’s mouth and the woman put the

soldier back in his box.

In the end, Jack-in-the-box and the soldier

fought again. The soldier managed to throw Jack

into the fire. And then, the soldier and the balleri-

na danced all night.

Emma, G-4

The clock struck twelve o’clock. The ballet

dancer started to dance, and the ugly puppet got

out of his box. The soldiers also started to march.

The fifth soldier got up but it had only one leg.

When he saw the ballet dancer, he thought that

she had one leg too, but when she stood up, he

found out she had two legs. So, he became sad.

But later, the ballet dancer danced with him

and this made the ugly puppet jealous. So, he

grabbed the soldier and threw him out the house.

The soldier landed in the sewer. When he reached

the end of the sewer, he dodged the rats and fell

out the drain, sinking down the water. Then a fish

ate the soldier.

In the morning, the fish got caught and deliv-

ered to the owner of the house where the soldier

came from. He fought the ugly puppet and won.

The soldier and the ballet dancer lived happily

after that.

Continued from p.19

All the main characters are toys – the ballerina,

Jack-in-the-box, and the tin soldier. Every mid-

night the toys move. One night, the tin soldier

woke and fell in love with the ballerina because at

first he thought she had only one leg, just like

him. The Jack-in-the-box got jealous because he

liked her too. So, he pushed the soldier out

through the window.

The tin soldier fell into the sewer where there

were rats trying to catch and eat him. But the tin

soldier fell all the way to the ocean. He got eaten

by a fish and at that time, he could not do any-

thing, he froze because it was already day time.

In the morning, the fisherman caught the fish

that ate the soldier. Then the toys’ owner bought

the fish and got the tin soldier back. At midnight,

the tin soldier became alive again. He fought the

Jack-in-the-box and the made him fall into the

fire. Then, the tin soldier and the ballerina lived

happily ever after.

The Firebird One day, a deer came out of the woods where

he met a girl with powers. She filled the forest

with trees and grass. She was the life of nature.

She came to a place where there was some-

thing dark and black. She touched it and suddenly

the Fire Bird came out. She became afraid and so

she ran, but the Fire Bird chased her and she went

down.

When the deer saw her, she climbed on the

deer’s back. She cried and her tears fell on the

flowers – but the flowers grew! She became hap-

py and the trees and everything around came back

to life.

Chinmay, G-3

Once there was a deer who was in a polluted

place. The deer found and saved a water woman.

She was helping the earth, by touching it and giv-

ing life.

But then she touched something dark, and the

Fire Bird came out! It destroyed everything. Even

the water woman.

But then the deer came and tried to save her.

She started to feel better. She started to touch and

make the plants grow again – the trees and the

mountains too, they grew again. And the whole

Earth became green with life again.

Mai Thao, G-3

This story is about a girl who is made out of

water. She makes the forest green all around.

But when she almost reached the top of a vol-

cano, her powers seemed to be not working so she

went inside the volcano. She saw a big rock. It

was the Fire bird, and it awakened when she

touched it.

The Firebird rose up and burned the whole for-

est. The water girl got lost in the fire, but the deer

found her. The deer carried her, and she became

stronger and powerful again. She made the forest

alive and green again.

Electric Current What are the parts of an electric circuit?

You press a switch and your flashlight lights

or your radio plays music. Electrical energy pow-

ers your flashlight and radio. You depend on elec-

tricity in hundreds of other ways, too.

In our group investigation we found out static

electric charges collect on objects and may jump

quickly between objects. But these charges can’t

be used to run electric devices. For electric charg-

es to be useful, they have to flow. In the form of

electricity we use at home and school, electric

charges flow steadily, somewhat like currents of

water in a stream. According to encyclopedia

electric current is a continuous flow of negative

charges. An electric circuit is a path along which

negative charges can flow. In our experiment we

showed how to put together the parts of an elec-

tric circuit. We found out that a simple electric

circuit starts with a source of electric charges

such as a dry cell. We connected the second wire

to the bulb or the other device back to the source

of negative charges. We learned that when a cir-

cuit is closed, or complete, there is no break in the

pathway of negative charges. The charges can

flow through a closed circuit. In a closed circuit

containing a light bulb, the bulb lights up. Then

when the circuit is open, or incomplete, there’s a

break in the pathway. Charges can’t flow through

an open circuit. We tried to disconnect a wire in a

simple circuit, the bulb cat’ light. We used a de-

vice that opens or closes the circuit which is the

switch. We concluded that when we turn a switch

to on, we close a circuit so it is complete. When

we turn a switch to off, we open a circuit so it is

incomplete. By adding a switch to a circuit, we

don’t have to disconnect a wire to open the cir-

cuit. Thunyamas, Mesawadee, Napat, Varoth,

Happy Year in Grade 2A When I came to Grade 2A, I felt so happy. I

was so excited when I came to grade 2A because

I knew that I was going to Grade 2A.

The subjects that we learned on the first day

were Math and Spelling and Vocabulary. In

Math, we learned about addition and in Spelling

and Vocabulary, we learned about the short ‘I’

sound words.

I was so happy. I improved in Math. In Sci-

ence, we did exciting experiments like the Leak

Proof Bag experiment. We also di some more ex-

periments like Drops on a Five Baht Coin, and

Bouncing Bubbles. I liked all the experiments.

On the smart board, we played so many games

like the Solar System.

In our class, the teacher divided us into groups

so that we can do group work.

We had Nature Walk in our class activity and

we also had Flash Light Tag activity. They were

fun activities. We did many class activities.

In our school, we had so many activities too.

I feel so sad that I will go to Grade 3. I will

miss teacher Elvis very much. I hope Mr. Elvis

will be there too.

Tanawit, G-2

My Best Grade 2A Year First, when I came to Grade 2A, I was feeling

very excited. In grade 2A, my teacher is very fun-

ny.

The first subjects that we studied were Math

and Spelling. In Math we learned about addition

and subtraction. In Spelling, we learned about

Short I sound Words.

I improved a lot in Math, Science, and Hand-

writing in the second semester.

On Science, we did a lot of experiments. I did

The Leak Proof Bag Experiment. It was very ex-

citing and fun. There were two days for the Sci-

ence Day. I had so much fun.

On the smart board we played so many games

like Solar System, Elapsed Time, etc. The teacher

took us to the computer room and we got certifi-

cates when we passed in the Quiz Game on the

Solar System.

In class, the teacher lets us do group work in

Math, Science, and Social Studies. In Art class

too the teacher told us to be in groups.

We had a Nature Walk with Grade 2B class.

We all went around AIT. In the Nature Walk we

collected leaves, shells, etc. When we came back

to class, we labelled them into non-living things,

living things, and once living things.

In our school, we had a lot of activities like

Science Day, Visual Arts Open House Day, Brain

Quiz Day, and Crazy Day. All these activities

were really fun.

When I am going to Grade 3, my feelings are

so sad. I am going to miss my teacher so much. “I

am going to miss you Mr. Caszo. I hope you are

happy. I am going to Grade 3, but I will miss you

so much.”

Anushka, G-2

My Fun and Creative Grade 2A Diary When I first came to Grade 2A, I felt shy. All

of a sudden I knew that the world was going to

get a lot harder, but I didn’t mind.

The subjects we learnt were much harder. My

favorite subject is Math. My second favorite sub-

ject is Creative Writing.

I improved from grade 1 to Grade 2. In Grade

1, I was sloppy as a sloth. I forgot to mention

about my teacher, Mr. Elvis. One thing I like

about him is he make us do science experiments. I

love Science.

There is a Student Councilor named Mrs.

Hasmeena. Whenever we touched her Smart

Board, it went boom!

I love group work in Grade 2A! I especially

enjoyed working with my friends Krish, Oak, and

Rujirat.

I love the class activities such as the science

experiments. My favorite activities were on the

smart board.

The school activities give you a day off. On

Science Day we watched a good movie.

I wish I could stay with Mr. Elvis. In Grade 3,

things will be hard. I wish Mr. Elvis will teach

Grade 3.

My Great Experience in Grade 2A When I first came to Grade 2A I felt very shy.

I met my friends after a long time. My teacher

was good.

The subjects I studied were fun. They were

Math, Science, and Creative Writing. There were

some things that I couldn’t understand. After

sometime I improved in my work. My handwrit-

ing got better. Then I could understand every-

thing. Everybody liked me.

We got to very exciting experiments. The ex-

citing experiments were fun, like how many drops

of water could fit on a five Baht coin?

We always went to the smart board room and

had lots of fun. We played on it and we answered

questions too.

We also did group working and I enjoyed

group working. We did group working in all sub-

jects and in Art and Craft too.

In the class activities we have lots of fun. We

did class presentation like plays, etc. it was really

fun.

We also did School activities like Crazy Day.

On Crazy Day I was a rock star.

Now I am grown up because of Mr. Caszo. I

like Mr. Caszo so much. He is the best teacher in

this universe.

Krish, G-2

My Fun and Creative Grade 2A Class First, when I came to Grade 2A, I was so ex-

cited and it was a feeling of fun because I liked to

go to Grade 2A. Then I went to the Bookstore and

bought all my things. I bought books only as I

already had all the other things needed. The book

were for Math, English, Science, Handwriting,

Social studies, and Creative writing. Then I went

to school.

I started to improve in my studies.

When Science Day came, I was very happy. I

tried to do experiments. The experiments that we

did were The Leak Proof Bag, Drops on a Five

Baht Coin, Bouncing Bubbles, and The Fire Ex-

tinguisher.

After Science Day, I learned about the clock.

We went to the smart board and played exciting

games about clocks. We also played games on

digital clocks too. We did many other games such

as The Solar System game on the smart board.

We did lots of group works with my friends.

We did the North, South, East, and West, we did

rewriting the story Strega Nona’s Magic Lessons,

etc. They were fun. We did a Nature Walk in the

school. We collected many things such as living

things, non-living things, and once living things.

We did classification of the things in the class.

That day was the best day in the whole year in

school.

We did many school activities such as Science

day, Crazy Day, Friendship Day, Earth day, and

preparing for Annual day.

Today, I am feeling very sad because I will be

going to the next grade. I will miss my classroom.

Sahaja, G-2

My Adventure in Grade 2A I felt great that I was in Grade 2A. When the

teacher said we will have an activity, I readily

joined it.

The subjects that we learned were Math, So-

cial studies, Reading, Spelling, Creative Writing,

Handwriting, Science, and English. I improved a

bit at first. Then I improved a lot in my learning

skills. I also improved in many subjects.

On Science day, I did many exciting experi-

ments. It was fun and exciting.

I was having a lot of fun. Every time my teach-

er took me to the ESL room to play learning

games. Sometimes the teacher made us work in

groups. It was fun too! The class activities were

class presentation, group work, experiments, etc.

The school activities were Crazy day,

Songkran Day, Loykrathong Day, Annual day,

Talent Show Day, Science day, Friendship Day,

Sports day, and Earth Day.

Now we are coming to the end of Grade 2A

year. I still want to be happy and so I will come at

the snack break to this class. I want to visit Mr.

Elvis every day to see him.
