Assignment 1.B.2 If you are the head of total rewards department of an organization which stakeholder constituency or constituencies would you cater to and why? If you face a dilemma or even a conundrum while dealing with multiple stakeholders and their expectations what anchor points would you depend on to make the 'right' decision? Hint:What is the highest starting point from which all activities of any organization starts when it has to make especially difficult decisions? We are not referring to the CEO or any other individual. Give an example from real life either from your organization or any other.. I feel that I would cater to The U.S. government since this is the authority which passes laws that affects all companies. Also not being compliant with these laws could cause legal problems for any organization. Hence I would ensure that all my policies and procedures comply with U.S government legislations. Compensation systems are created at the top of the organization; hence executives are a key stakeholder. Executives utilize compensation systems to hire and retain top performers for their company. Executives with good knowledgeable on compensation laws and regulations, create a system which is reasonable, fair, and provides an edge over competitors. By catering to the U.S. government an HR professional is often also catering to executives. So by closely working with the executive compensation professionals I could create an appealing offer for pay and benefits which would attract and retain top performers in company.
