Case Study

Project Name: Haybrook College

Project Type: BREEAM Report

Client: McLaughlin and Harvey

Date: August 2013

Neo Environmental were commissioned by McLaughlin and Harvey to undertake an assessment of

Haybrook College and its grounds as part of the re-development of the site. An ecological survey was car-

ried out to inform a BREEAM assessment.

Neo Environmental’s involvement:

Undertook a desk study including an assessment of the existing baseline

Undertaking a field survey of the site

Compiling a report and making recommendations to enhance the ecological integrity of the site

Assessing the development’s BREEAM credit eligibility, and consulting with the BREEAM Asses-sor

Project Outcomes:

The project gained relevant ecological credits under the BREEAM scheme

The desk-based survey and field work found the site to be of low ecological value, and that the

proposed development would have minimal negative impacts on the ecology of the site

BREEAM credits were gained by identifying and protecting the site’s ecological value, imple-

menting relevant mitigation measures, and enhancing the sites ecology value post -construction

through a biodiversity management plan (BMP)

All work was carried out in a timely, cost-effective manner, adhering to current standard guid-

ance to prevent any un-necessary delays to the client

On-site construction staff were educated on ecological considerations
