“T he main purpose of education should be to impart a culture of the heart. There are two types of ed-ucation: education for a living and education for

life. When we study in college, striving to become a doctor, a lawyer, or an engineer, that is education for a living. But education for life requires an under-standing of the essential principles of spirituality; it is about gaining a deeper understanding of the world, our minds, our emotions, and ourselves. Youngsters need to understand the purpose of life. They need courage and wisdom to face the challenges of life. With that understanding they become the light of the world.

The Amrita MBA gave me the holistic perspective that all managers aspire to have. Classes focused on practical assignments, allowing us to experience real life scenarios through case studies. The students develop a broader perspective and a multi-faceted view of the current and future commercial and social scenarios. Students are also given opportunities to interact with corporate leaders through the Colloquium sessions. These provide insights into the

corporate world and the business opportunities. Amrita Technology Business Incubator helped us to understand more about start-ups. Through its value added courses and self-awareness programmes students are nurtured not only to achieve professional excellence but also for life, The Amrita MBA has all the right ingredients for imparting entrepreneurial, managerial and leadership competen-cies in an individual. The MBA programme helped to shape my mind-set and the perspective to leverage my skills and competence.

“The MBA programme at Amrita, Amritapuri proved to be an intellectual challenge which taught me to assess my priorities and my motivations

in a disciplined manner. It made me seek the answer to the question “What is it that I can do that would really mean something?” What differentiates Amrita MBA from the other programmes is the uniquely qualified and dedicated faculty who have always nurtured and supported us and has been key in our trans- formation into assertive and so-cially responsible managers. Without a doubt, my time in Amritapuri has been some of the best days of my life.”

The best of both worlds’- That was life at Amrita for me. I was lucky enough to be a part of the MBA-MS Program that Amrita offered in collaboration with SUNY, Buffalo. Two high valued professional courses in a span of 2 years and from esteemed universities- It was an opportu-nity I did not want to miss. The MBA course gave me an understanding of how the business world works. The challenges we faced, kept us on our toes, constantly pushing us to give our

best shot! It was a synergy between rich experiential learning and deep rooted values that our faculty imparted in us. The MS course was all about strategy and business analytics. The exposure we got at UB was quite a unique one in terms of the curriculum and the teaching pedagogy. I feel fortunate to have experienced student life at both the campuses. The faculty of the program were SME’s from their fields which was indeed the main reason we had a great learning at Amrita.

In this world of ‘Internet of things’, Analytics has become the ‘in thing’ globally which is being applied to every field and industry. With experts predicting that 40 zetabytes of data will be in existence by 2020, careers hinging on analytics will only shoot through the roof. The volume and velocity of this data is so huge that it overwhelms the time starved managers. Shortage of skilled professionals in a world has led to the huge demand for Business Analysts and Data Scientists. The time has never been more right to embrace analytics and join the MBA - MS Dual-Degree programme, offered in collaboration with University at Buffalo (UB), State University of New York. On successful completion, graduand is conferred an MBA de-gree by AMRITA and MS Degree in Management Sciences: Business Analytics and Systems from UB. Among the campuses, Bengaluru is the only campus that offers this unique programme.

Placements at ASB

The serenity of the campus as such and the hum-ble nature of people within it is what makes ASB unique. The range of activities right from clubs

and bfests to cultural events provide a platform to bring out the mana-

gerial skills and gives a corporate exposure which orients us in the path of professionalism. The self-less extra effort and concern put

in by faculties during placements, which is at times even more than that

of students ourselves, has been the driving force for me to believe in myself and get placed in one of my dream companies ‘Zoho’.

Abirami APlaced: Zoho2017-2019 Batch (Coimbatore Campus)

It’s a great place to live close to the nature and pursue Masters that teaches beyond what is pre-scribed, the values and experiences which are the

building blocks of a great leader.I found the source to get inspired

that paved a way to what I wanted to achieve as a starting milestone in my career. The whole experience of pre-

paring for NetElixir has not only brought about many interactions and

earnest efforts from faculty members, friends and alumni, it has also opened up a whole new world of Marketing which is dynamic and where there is contionous innovation.

Pushkara APlaced: NetElixir2017-2019 Batch (Coimbatore Campus)

Job Profile: Team Manager, OperationsTestimonial: The placement drive at Amrita Busi-ness School comprises a mix of well renowned firms and

many emerging startups. Companies come with specific job profiles and students fulfilling the

same are handpicked. Established brands such as Amazon,Zoho, BNY Mellon,Phil-lips,Deloitte to name a few are the first to arrive and pick the students they feel are

good enough to fit the job requirements. There is no dearth of companies coming and its

up to the students to ensure they get picked, The Business School has Analytics as a specialization, and firms such as Caterpillar, Bridgei2i are the ones who regularly recruit in this domain. The CIR cell plays its part in ensuring students are in the best frame of mind as far as aptitude prepara-tion, interviews and various other counselling is concerned when the placement season commences.

Arijeet SrivastavaPlaced: Amazon2017-19, Batch (Bangaluru Campus)

The reason I got placed in Bridgei2i (Fastest Growing Analytics Company in India) is due to the academic sylla-bus and extracurricular activities in the Analytics field by

Amrita School of Business. ASB’s Analytics Program consists of not just Analytics techniques and

tools but also it integrates Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain and HR with Analytics this increase the scope in the analytics field. Addi-tionally, Analytics club helped me to get more

industry knowledge. MS boosted all these with international exposure and techniques.

“We have received unparalleled support and mentorship from the faculty of both ASB and Amrita School of Engineering. Some among our earliest leads came from faculty references. Eminent professors from Amrita School of Business - Prof. Deepak Gupta and Prof. Shobhana Madhavan wrote a case study modelled on some of our challenges and TCS Smart Manager published it. Answer entries to that case study from industry leaders gave us great insights and strategic trajectories. The guidance offered by Amrita Center for Research in Advanced Technologies for Education (CREATE Labs) has also been phenomenal. Such an ecosystem of multimodal support is very unique to Amrita.”

“ASB presented me with a plethora of knowledge; mixed with both business theory and practice. Being one of the campuses that provide cross cultural knowledge and best in class academics; it was indeed a very fruitful experience. It has prepared me to take up top managerial and leadership roles in the corporate world and had moulded me into an entrepreneur that I am today.

“We have been able to make impact in the lives of many farmers. Over 95 percent of farmers who have tied up with us have had more profitable season with us. We have expanded ourselves into major heartlands of North and Central and Eastern India in multiple states. In the export market, we are actively working on some of the biggest deals right now in agriculture commodity market in India.”

Shaswata Majumdar, Co-Founder , ChomSha Agrotech Private Limited (www.chomsha.com) Class of 2011

“ASB helped me to shape my personality, especially when it comes to interacting with people. Faculty at ASB knew the potential of each student and taught accordingly. We had 40% of the class from North and few from North East too. This diversity helps me in business, in satisfying the tastes of people coming from different parts of the country. For most institutes, it is about learning and writing exams. However, at ASB, it is doing assignments and presentations, which required even more thinking and time management. All these contributed to my entrepreneurship journey.”

Alumni Reunion & Bootcamp

Alumni have been backbone to ASB for Placements and Internship. About 30% of the Summer Internship opportunities are through Alumni. Ahead of the placements this year, the Alma Connect Club organized Alumni Boot Camp and trained students on various aspects of placements, ranging from resume preparation to GD mock sessions and in choosing the right profile. WhatsApp groups are formed with the alumni who work in the companies and they give their inputs and tips to crack the companies.

2018 Alumni Reunion had 100+ Alumni attend along with their family members. Almost every batch was represented starting from 1998.Having got new wings to fly around the world, on this day the ASB alumni make a resolution - I will get back to ASB with my new wings. We live the reality and carry the memories, come back and relive those lovely memories from exams to festivals, from assignments to deadlines, bring back those nostalgic moments.
