By now, all ASA members should have received the 1989 Membership Directory and Handbook. This publication contains a large amount of infor- mation about the Society not contained in previous editions of the member- ship directory.

In addition to an alphabetical list of members, which now includes both business and home addresses and telephone numbers, facsimile tele- phone numbers, and E-mail addresses, members are listed by their acousti- cal subject areas of interest as well as by geographical location, and there are also 65 pages of fortext containing the following new information:

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers has elected the following ASA members to Fellowship: Johann F. Cooper, University of Illinois at Urbana--Champaign, for con- tributions to audio disk recording and stereo sound technology. Don H. Johnson, Rice University, Houston, TX, for contributions to the modeling of auditory systems and to array-processing methods. Roger H. Tancrell, Raytheon Research Division, Lexington, MA, for con- tributions to the analysis and design of surface-acoustic-wave filters for signal processing. Bernhard R. Short course

The University of Kentucky will present "Using Numerical Methods to Predict Product Noise," 11-13 June 1990. This course consists of morn- ing lectures on the finite element and boundary element methods in acous- tics. Afternoon workshops allow attendees to gain experience running boundary element and finite element acoustic programs on 386 PCs. For
