Artists covered include: David, Ingres, Delecroix, Goya, Constable, Turner, Courbet, Millet, Manet, Monet, Degas, Cassatt, Renoir, Homer, Sargent, Rodin, Toulouse-Lautrec, Cezanne, Seurat, Van Gogh, and Gauguin.

Chinese calligraphy is both functional written communication and an expressive art form. You will be introduced to the simple tools of this ancient art and begin the mastery of its technique.

Pottery, Basics CL101-01 This class introduces the exciting aspects of working with clay. The class will cover the baskci skills of using a potter’s wheel to create a variety of vessles. Students will learn to professionally finish their work using a various techniques with special glazing colors. All pieces will be kiln fired. No previous pottery experience is necessary. All tools and materials are provided.

Pottery, Basic and Beyond CL101-02 This class is a continuation of the Basic class. Under the watchful eye of a master potter, students of the Basic II class will polish their wheel throwing skills developed in the first class series and explore other design options. Additional work with glazing compounds and color enhancements will be explored. Some previous wheel pottery experience is required for this class.

Pottery, Beyond the Basics CL101-03 Students will refine their beginner wheel pottery skills by focusing on surface design, unique glazing options, lids, designer handles and more. More abstract design will be demonstrated and taught. Larger, more intricately designed ware will be encouraged during this class. Students will be given the opportunity to create their own unique ware under the watchful eye of the instructor. Some previous wheel pottery experience is required.

Garden Step Stone, Basic CL104-01 Students will piece glass designs into a cement stepping stone mold for a creative walkway path. Tool kits are available but students must purchase all supplies.

Handbuilt/Slab Pottery, Basic CL107-01 Students will explore techniques of handbuilding items made from clay. Techniques will include: coil building, press molds, slab construction, and pinch methods. Also covered will be basic glazing techniques. No previous clay experience is required. Tuition includes unlimited use of studio through duration of class and multiple kiln firings.

Pottery, Overview CL108-01 This class introduces a variety of methods in working with clay. Covered will be the essentials of hand building, slab rolling, coil, wheel, and various other methods of creating clay and earthen ware. Students will learn to glaze pieces with artistic expression and be instructed on the methods of kiln firings. No previous pottery experience is necessary. All tools and materials are provided.

Sculpture, Basic CL109-01 Students will explore a variety of sculptural mediums including wire, paper, wood, found objects, and clay to create unique sculptural art pieces. All mediums will include student exploration of the elements of art.

Clay, Basic Sculpture CL109-02 Introduction to three dimensional clay design. Students will learn to carve a head or sculpt a figure out of clay.

Pottery, Intermediate CL201-01 CL101-03 For students who have mastered the basic techniques of throwing pottery, design, and glazing, this class will be built around the use of iron-based stoneware and porcelain clays. There will be an emphasis on decorative surface treatments, including carving, faceting, patina washes and over glaze brushwork. Development of unique glazing compounds will also be studied.

Ceramics, Low Fire Beyond the Basics CL202-01 CL110-01 Go beyond the basics of our introductory class in low-fire clays. Explore other building techniques as well as methods to use silkcreen tranfers on clay.

Pottery, Lidded Jars/Pots/Bowls CL203-01 CL101-03 Students will refine their beginner wheel pottery skills by focusing on surface design, unique glazing options, 2 types of lids, and more. Pottery, Non-Round Trays/Plates CL203-02 CL101-03 Students will refine their beginner wheel pottery skills by focusing on surface design, unique glazing options, manipulation of forms, and more. Wine Selection FO104-02 Overview of wine varieties, selection, tasting, collecting, presentation and pairing with foods. Instruction will cover overview of the main wine regions of the world highlighting classic and rising regions and estates; differences between varieties of wine by color, grape, style; how to taste and drink wine; basics of building a collection and storing wine at home and how to pair wines with foods and presentation for a gathering.

Wine Tasting FO104-03 The class will examine the proper method of wine tasting and wine judging. Knowing what retail store wine score numbers indicate will help students select appropriate wines and also allow them to provide their own scores on unevaluated wine selections. Proper tasting skills will also aid students who wish to make their own wine. Students will taste and score a white and red wine and will be encouraged to bring their home wines for class scoring. All wines will be blind tasted; home wine makers will not be identified.

Beer Homebrewing FO105-01 Learn to make your own home brewed beer by observing the technique of our own master homebrewer. Many will say if you can boil water you can brew beer. This class gives you the opportunity to see the process in action before tackling the project yourself. With the purchase of a few simple tools you’ll be brewing your own home brew before you know it.

Outdoor Dutch-Oven Cooking FO106-01 Experience the excitement of cooking over an open fire. Using a Dutch oven and spit you will learn the process of cooking a beef roast and vegetables over an open pit fire the way your pioneer ancestors would have experienced meal preparation. Painting Ukrainian Eggs (“Pysanky”) PA106-01 A traditional Russian craft with a thousand year history. The method is similar to batik - patterns are drawn on eggs with wax, wax protects the covered areas from the dye that is applied. By repeating this process with different colors of dye, a multi-colored pattern is built up. Finally, the wax is removed to reveal all the colors.
