Our Spring Summer brochure is bursting with activities for all ages!

Saturdays are always busy here with arts and crafts courses for all abilities. Lorna Miller returns with two fabulous textiles

workshops, whilst Emma Morrissey adds a creative fascinator workshop to her regular

painting with acrylics lessons.We are extending our range of cookery

classes to include a Simple Cookery class for novice cooks - see page 9 for details.

We are also delighted to host the Wildern Junior Music Academy for children wishing

to learn solo instruments and The Music Factory which encourages children and

adults to play alongside each other as they learn their woodwind instruments.

Wildern Junior Music AcademyThe Wildern Junior Music Academy offers one-on-one instrumental lessons for primary school children at all levels. Lessons are available on a wide selection of instruments and are all taught by experienced tutors, so you can be sure the quality of teaching is high. The Music FactoryWednesdays, 5pm to 6pm, £2 adults & £1 Under 18sLearn a woodwind instrument in these fun group sessions. Holiday ActivitiesHoliday activities at the d.@rt centre are a great way to keep your little ones busy over the school holidays, whilst engaging their creative side. These sessions are suitable for children aged 4 to 12, and our experienced tutors ensure that every child has a great time being an artist.As well as the main session, we offer wrap around care from 9am to 10am, and then again from 3pm to 5pm at a cost of £2 per extra hour.

Dance Junkie provide fun street dance classes for children, with sessions for all ability levels. Street dance is a great way for children to have fun whilst getting active, and also teaches invaluable team work skills. Teacher Annaleigh McKinley is UDO qualified and has been a backing dancer for the likes of Westlife, Kanye West and Robbie Williams!

Performing arts classes for children aged 4 - 13 Incorporating dance, drama and musicThursdays (term time only) 4:30pm to 5:30pm £21 per half term

The Youth Triple Threat Theatre is the junior branch of Southampton’s established Triple Threat Theatre Company. In the sessions children learn singing, dancing and drama skills making them true ‘triple threat’ performers. Each year the YTTT take part in a showcase alongside the adult company so friends and parents can see their new skills put into a performance context. Previous shows include Annie, and the group are currently working towards a performance of Alice In Wonderland.

January21st: Painting with Acrylics 11am - 4pm, £25 per person. An exciting painting workshop run by local fine artist Emma Morrissey who has over a decade worth of art experience, sharing & demonstrating some simple yet effective techniques to create your own canvas painting.

February4th: Chocolate Making and Dipping: 10am - 12.30pm, £25 per person. Learn how to temper, mould and dip to create your own delicious chocolate treats with the aid of the experts from Theone Chocolate Company.18th: Making Fascinators 11am - 4pm, £35 per person. Create your own festive accessories with guidance from multi talented Emma Morrissey

March4th: Magic Machine Embroidery 10am to 4pm, £40 per person. Magic machine emroidery for fashion or home with textiles artist Lorna Miller.18th: Portraits in Acrylics 11am - 4pm, £25 per person. Wave Film SocietyFirst Thursday of each month, 7pm in the d.@rt foyer & film will start at 7.30pm£40 annual membership, £5 single screeningThe Wave Film Society is our monthly film club, showing a selection of films ranging from big budget blockbusters to low-key indie films. Film showings take place in the Wave, our auditorium with big screen, HD projector and surround sound, giving you the full cinema experience in your local area. Each screening includes time both before and after the film to relax with a complimentary hot drink and biscuit, where you can socialise with like-minded film fans and test your film knowledge with our fun monthly quiz.

Book ClubSecond Thursday of each month, 7.30pm in the d.@rt foyerFreeOur monthly book club is a great opportunity for literature lovers to read and discuss a wide range of books. From comic capers to powerful drama, there is something for everyone to enjoy. The opportunity to discuss the book you have read is a great way to get more out of the reading experience, making you think more deeply about various aspects of the story, as well as hearing other peoples opinions. The club is very informal and is a great opportunity to chat to other bookworms, so as well as the month’s chosen book you are sure to hear some great new recommendations.

Open Mic NightThird Thursday of each month, 7pm in the d.@rt foyerFreeThe d.@rt open mic nights are relaxed evenings of live music, where anyone is able to get up and perform. The friendly atmosphere makes them perfect for musicians of all abilities, and you can always be a sure of a warm reception. So whether you are a seasoned pro, or looking to step out and perform in public for the first time, the d.@rt centre is the perfect venue for you. We provide all the equipment you would expect at an open mic night, but if you have any specific requests or queries please contact Jon Prince on [email protected].

Knit & NatterFourth Thursday of each month, 7.30pm in the d.@rt foyerFreeCome and enjoy a relaxed night of social knitting, where we share patterns, tips and gossip. You are more than welcome to bring a project of your own that you are working on or take part in one of our regular charity projects. Previous projects we have been a part of include making hats as part of the Innocent Big Knit, as well as contributing knitted bunting to the Knitting For Victory project, which broke the world record for longest line of knitted bunting! If you are new to knitting then Knit & Natter is a great way to learn the basics.

Whether you’ve never used one before or are looking to learn some more advanced skills, Wildern pupils are a wonderful source of computer knowledge and can help you learn to get the most out of your device. Different, simple, creative activities are offered for each of theselively sessions, which require no artistic skills. Getting To The d.@rt

The d.@rt Centre is located on the site of Wildern School, Hedge End, Hampshire, SO30 4EJ

By BusThe d.@rt is easily accessible via a number of bus services. Visit www.travelinesoutheast.org.ukto plan your route.

By Train The d.@rt is located 1.5 miles from Hedge End train station. This is approximately a 25 minute walk, or alternatively a number of taxi services run from the station.

By CarFrom the M25 take junction 7 towards Hedge End. At the traffic lights in the village centre turn left onto Wildern Lane. Wildern School and the d.@rt are 200m along on the right.

In order to keep our class prices at an affordable, and accessible, rate for all we operate the following booking policy:

1. We require advance payment on booking for all classes and are unable to reserve places without payment2. The d.@rt reception is open to take payment from 9am until 9.30pm on weekdays and between 9am and 4.30pm on Saturdays3. We are unable to offer internet payment as our courses require individual attention that cannot be gained in this way4. Materials and resources are bought to match the number of people booked on the course. As a result, we cannot guarantee places will be available on the day unless pre-booked. Please always phone to check: 01489 7794715. In the event of a cancellation a refund cannot be given, unless we can fill your space. Should the d.@rt Centre cancel a workshop you have booked onto, an alternative workshop or date will be offered. Where this is not possible or acceptable to you, a full refund will be paid

Park and StrideWe operate a park and stride from the B7Q on Charles Watts Way. Visitors can park in this secure carpark, and from here there is a short signposted walk to the centre.
