ART ALLIANCE PBSC!We look forward to a great year full of amazing events and activities. As the Art Alliance, our mission is to develop an appreciation of the visual arts through visits to art fairs and festivals, museums, galleries, and artist studios. We wish to prepare ourselves for the professional world through networking opportunities and participation in peer-to-peer learning. Additionally by sharing our enthusiasms and talents with the larger academic and local community, we wish to cultivate awareness and promote the visual arts, making a lasting and meaningful contribution to Palm Beach State College.

SERVICEAside from the Travel opportunities listed below, we plan on giving back to the college through involvement with other clubs and groups. So far we have discussed making Pinatas for the Spanish Club, and painting a mural for the rooftop garden that Community Earth will be making.

Whenever possible, we will help beautify, enrich, and enliven the college community in creative and diverse ways. Far from existing in a cocoon of Art Elitism, it is our goal to create networks with other clubs and communities, and to collaborate in ways that benefit the entire school. We are privileged to have the opportunity to attend local art events, and so it is through service to the school that we find a way to give back.

Second Saturday Arts Walk, Wynwood Art District, Miami

On the Second Saturday of every month, dozens of the independent galleries in the Wynwood Art District open their doors for their Second Saturday Gallery Night, each venue offering their own exhibitions, entertainment, refreshments and vibes. The creative sprawl that has taken over Wynwood and the Design District along with the businesses brave enough to risk it is inspiring. It's living proof that Art Basel isn't just a fleeting few days in Miami. There's a neighborhood raising awareness for contemporary artists and that's definitely something to support and become involved in.

Lake Worth Street Painting Festival, Lake Worth

The Tradition of Street PaintingTraced back to 16th century italy when itinerant artists would use their chalks to transform pavement into a makeshift canvas, street painting has retained its appeal through the centuries. As in ages past, crowds still gather to watch as fine works of art emerge. The “paintings” last only until the next rain, but the lively spirit and accessibility of the exhibition captivates new audiences each year and inspires lasting memories.

The BIGGEST EventDowntown Lake Worth and the Greater Lake Worth Chamber of Commerce invite you to the annual Street Painting Festival, which claims bragging rights as the country’s largest. The 2-day event transforms the downtown streets with more than 200 street paintings sponsored by businesses, organizations, families and individuals, covering more area than any other festival of its kind in the U.S. Hundreds of artists converge to display their diverse talents on the asphalt – using only chalk – in styles that range from Renaissance classicism to Cubism and Pop Art. Street performers, strolling minstrels and Mainstage musical entertainment add to the creative atmosphere. And of course, don’t miss the Festival Food Courts, accommodating culinary tastes and thirsts as diverse as the surrounding artwork.
