PAGE 1 OF 3 COURSE OBJECTIVES Graphic Design 231 is an introduction to typographic competencies in two-dimensional formats. The projects assigned this term will enable you to develop an understanding of the history and principles of typography that are the basis of all design endeavors concerning the written word. The course will provide skills necessary for developing and executing basic typographic concepts. An introduction to the Adobe Creative Cloud design programs (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign) will be incorporated into projects in order to bring them to completion. COURSE POLICIES The course grade will be based on student work, ability to meet deadlines and class participation. Grading of each project will be based on execution, inventiveness and aesthetic quality. Active participation in all group work sessions and in individual and group critiques is required. One grade lowered on projects for each class day late. Deadlines will be listed on project handouts. It is better to hand your project in on time, and revise it later (if necessary) for a re-evaluation grade. If a student is not satisfied upon receiving a grade on a project, he or she will have one week to revise it for possible grade change. CONTACT My office is Room 401, Ivan Wilson Center.
