CHI, Greater NOIDA organ donation awareness camp Army Institute of Education, Greater Noida organized an Organ Donation Awareness Camp in association with NOTTO (National Organ & Tissue Transplant Organization), Directorate General Health Services, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India, New Delhi on 23 Jan 2019. The camp was attended by the students of both batches as well as the faculty members of AIE and AIMT students. The purpose was to aware the students about the significance of organ and tissue donation as well as transplantation and stimulate them for rendering their contribution towards this noble cause. The Camp was inaugurated with auspicious lamp lighting ceremony. Welcome speech was given by Dr. Tania Gupta, Principal AIE. She welcomed and felicitated Dr Vasanthi Ramesh, Director NOTTO, Cmde (Dr) Vivek Chawla (Retd), Director AIMT and Col Rajendra Pandey (Retd), Registrar AIMT. In her welcome address she thanked the Management Committee of AIE for encouraging the Institute to organize such awareness building events. She also emphasized that a single person through organ donation has the power to save eight lives. Cmde. Vivek Chawla, Director AIMT addressed the gathering and shared his views on the importance of Organ Donation. Dr. Vasanthi Ramesh, Director NOTTO during her Inaugural address commenced the session with a brief introduction about herself and organization. Then, she explained the meaning of organ donation and tissue donation and the reasons which make them the need of the hour. She also discussed about the various types of organ donation and preservation time of donated organs. In addition, she showed a video to give a demonstration of brain stem death. Later, she enlisted the mandates & roles of NOTTO. The students were acquainted with the coordination of NOTTO with state level and

Army Institute of Education, Greater Noida organized an Organ Donation Awareness Camp in

regional level organizations SOTTO and ROTTO respectively and the guiding principles for organ

donation.

Eventually, she interacted with the students, responded to their queries and clarified their doubts on

the formalities and conditions required to be an organ donor. Students and faculty members exhibited

splendid enthusiasm towards this noble cause. 39 students and one faculty members including

Principal AIE filled the form and took a pledge to become an organ donor.

It was an enriching and enlightening session, which infused a motivation in the students to actively

participate in this act of selflessness and an endeavour to save humanity.To make this event more

attractive some competitions like Poster, Slogan, Rongoli and Skit were organized on the theme of

Organ Donation. Students of both B.Ed. (AIE) and MBA (AIMT) were invited to enthusiastically

participate in all competitions. AIE received 48 entries from B.Ed. student-teachers for poster

competition, 35 entries in slogan writing competition. 8 teams of two members each participated in

Rangoli competition and 4 teams of ten members each participated in skit competition on the theme

‘Deceased Organ Donation’.
