SUPPORTING OURARMED FORCES AND OURARMED FORCESCOMMUNITY
THE SUB-REGIONAL ARMED FORCES PARTNERSHIPIn 2017 a Sub-Regional Partnership was formed between Hull City Council; Doncaster Borough Council; East Riding of Yorkshire Council; North Lincolnshire Council and North East Lincolnshire Council.
The Partnership are working together to strengthen the delivery of local Armed Forces Covenants and the support available for the Armed Forces Community.
WHO ARE OUR ARMED FORCES COMMUNITY?
Regular Personnel currently serving;Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force
Merchant Navy served for at least one day on active service
Reservists both Regular and Volunteer
Veterans served for at least one day, Regular or Reservist
Families Immediate family; Spouses, civil or other partners, children for whom the veteran or partner are responsible
Bereaved Immediate Family, Service Personnel or Veterans who have died
WHAT IS THE ARMED FORCES COVENANT?The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise from the Nation that those who serve in the Armed Forces, whether Regular or Reserve, those who have served in the past, and their families, should face no disadvantage compared to other citizens in the provision of public and commercial services.
The Armed Forces Covenant relies on the people, communities, and businesses to actively support it in order to make a difference.
OUR COVENANTPRIORITIESWorking with our Partners we aim to ensure:
The Armed Forces Community will be provided with high quality guidance and support when applying for social housing and private rented accommodation.
The Armed Forces Community will enjoy the same standard of, and access to, healthcare as that received by any other citizen in the local community. Veterans will receive priority treatment where it relates to a condition which results from their Service, subject to clinical need.
Children of members of the Armed Forces will have the same access to education (including early years services), as any other local resident.
Access to training, education and skills support will be provided to Veterans to assist them to find suitable employment after services.
The Armed Forces Community will have access to the same welfare benefits as any other local resident.
HOW BUSINESSES CAN SUPPORTTHE COVENANTOver 2,000 businesses in the United Kingdom have pledged support for the Armed Forces Covenant.
Private, Public and Voluntary Sector organisations of all sizes who wish to demonstrate their support to the Armed Forces community can demonstrate their support by signing the Armed Forces Community Covenant.
