NPP KozloduyModernization Units 5 & 6

Project objective:Adjustment to the international security standard

Scope of service and delivery:75 single projects, basically consisting of:• Security increasing measures• Additional studies and expertise• Measures improving availability• Measures for the improvement of work and maintenance of the facilities

Project duration: 01.06.2001 – 31.05.2006

Project status:The project was finalized in due time and at the customer’s high contentment.

> Replacement of 6kV emergency power switchgear, batteries and rectifiers

> Upgrading of 6kV normal power switchgear

> Installation of new diagnostic systems inside the reactor building (loose parts monitoring (KÜS), moisture-sensitive leakage monitoring (FLÜS), fatigue monitoring (FAMOS))

> Hydrogen monitoring and recombination

> Supply of new fire alarm systems

> Seismic upgrading of existing cabinets

Duration of our Projects: 1998 – 2007

Customer: JNPC (Jiangsu Nuclear Power Corporation)Location: Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province, China

Highlights:

H2 -Recombiners were included in the VVER-design and supplied by AREVA

For the first time VVER-1000 units were designed and build with qualified digital I&C based on TXS and TXP

~ 5200 HVAC components were designed and supplied

November 2005:AREVA NP / Siemens submitted to Atomstroyexport (ASE) their first proposal of participation in Belene project as a Main Foreign Subcontractor

October 2007:The First Period Contract was signed between ASE and AREVA NP / Siemens to perform necessary activities to start the project.

November 2008:A Contract Agreement was signed between ASE and AREVA NP / Siemens

April 2009:The Site Specific Design and Procurement Contract was signed between ASE and AREVA NP GmbH with Siemens as Main Sub-Subcontractor, comprising the scope of supply and services to be performed within the next 12 month.

Hydrogen Recombination:

During design bases accidents and especially during beyond design bases accidents large amounts of hydrogen can be released inside the reactor containment.

For high increase in safety, the engineering, procurement, supply and installation of Passive Autocatalytic Hydrogen Recombiners (PAR) are included in our scope

proven high efficiency of catalytic material total prevention of combustion and combustion loads proven high resistance against poisons, cable fumes, oil

fumes, core melt aerosols several years faultless operation experiences in more than 25 plants compact, robust design optimized for back fitting easy in-service inspection with short inspection times due to easy removable catalytic insert and optimized transportable in-service inspection equipment
