Hi Osceola Wildcat families,
I am Heather Caldwell and I am the new instructional
literacy coach here at Osceola Elementary. St Johns
County over the past 15 years with a focus on helping
struggling readers improve and meet their individual
goals. I am excited for this new role here and my focus
on Literacy. You are an integral part of your child’s
reading success. Please try and spend time each night
reading to or with your child. Ask questions and check
for understanding as you read together. This is a special
time for you to spend together that will also greatly
impact their reading skills and set them up for academic

Change in transportation and checkout procedures
If you need to change your child’s transportation, please
send in a hand written note to the teacher or: click on
Change Transportation on the OES website. Do not call the
school. We will not accept change in transportation request
over the phone. We accept dismissal changes up until 2:00
pm every day except Wednesdays. 1:00 pm is the deadline on
Wednesdays. A driver’s license or State ID is required at
all
times when on school property and when checking your
student out.
No Checkouts after 2:20 on Monday, Tuesday
Thursday and Friday. No checkouts after 1:20 on
Wednesday.

Home Access Center (HAC) is a wonderful way to stay aware of
your child’s ongoing progress in the classroom. All report cards

News from Nurse Kelley
The clinic provides a vital service for our students at
Osceola. I always extend an open door policy for students,
parents, teachers, and staff. My hours in the clinic are
from 8:00am to 4:00pm, Monday-Friday. If you have any
questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call or
email me. I will be happy to answer any questions.

Interpreter Requests: If you are in need of an interpreter for
an event at Osceola, we ask you to send a request in writing at
least two weeks in advance to the date of your event. We will do
our very best to secure an interpreter, but need your help in
asking to notify us as far in advance as you can to assure we are
able to have an interpreter in place. Please communicate these
requests with your child’s teacher and they will pass them on to
the office for processing. We also ask your consideration and let
us know ASAP should you need to cancel a prearranged interpreter.
This is an additional expense to the SJCSD so we appreciate you
helping us to be conscious of these costs. CLOTHING CLOSET open to
families on Tuesdays from 1:30-3:30. Gently used clothing and shoes
are available free to families. Donations of children’s clothing
appreciated. If your child is in need and you are unable to come,
please contact Ms. Harrison at 547-3787.

Parents this is just a reminder, per SJCSD Policy: If the
person requesting the release of the student is a person
other than a parent or guardian listed on the
emergency contact form, we shall not release the
student without the consent of the parent or guardian
who is listed on the emergency contact form.
Mentor Training
Do you know someone who would be interested in
volunteering at Osceola by becoming a mentor for one
of our students? A mentor typically comes to the
school once a week to have lunch with their little
friend. Mentors offer support by listening, talking,
and becoming a “Special friend” to share with.
Mentors need to become approved volunteers and
attend a Mentor Training. Our next training will be
held here at Osceola on Thursday, September 27 from
9:30-10:30. Please contact Ms. Harrison at 547-3787
for more information and to sign up.

Just a reminder Osceola is a tobacco-free
campus. Tobacco-free means that smoking in
any form is prohibited on campus or in your
vehicle including: cigarettes; cigars; pipes; e-
